Bass
noun

the lowest adult male singing voice.
denoting the member of a family of instruments that is the lowest in pitch

Rarely used in singular form. Plural: basses Example: I have too many basses (also rarely used). I don't have enough basses. I take pictures of my basses on the sofa.
2. More recently I saw Russian shoegazers Pinkshinyultrablast, they had a Travis Bean. Some footage from *behind* the bass player here: https://youtu.be/ITqUFEukdds
3.
What's it actually for, though?
It's for whatever you like, be wild! I'll tell you what I use mine for: I live up North (ish) but work in London, so I stay here during the week and rent a small room. To pass time in the grim city I needed a docking station for my phone to play some music and a small practice amp to play my bass through. And cables, lots of cables. So I got the B-Social, the sound quality streaming audio from my phone/laptop through the bluetooth connection is pretty good. I can use my bass using the included wireless system and play along, or practice against a backing track, drum track etc. I have even recorded a few things just because it is there (that involves cables though). So for me it is a great solution for my predicament - I guess this is not what Ashdown had in mind when they created it, otherwise it would have been called the B-Hermit. Like Muppet said, it is a great piece of kit, the build quality is fantastic and the features really good. A few bits are not ideal, but on the whole I really like it. I didn't not pay the full price either, I could not have justified that.
4. So I think it is an ATK 100. The layout of the controls is a bit different from the pictures I found, but it could be because in the later models (MIK etc.) the 3 way switch has been migrated to an area less prone to accidental flicking. It would be a passive bass then.
5. I keep an eye on the Japanese made ATKs that come up on eBay and this one came up: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/332099483598?ul_noapp=true I have never seen an ATK with 2 knobs. My MIJ 300 has 4 knobs and the switch, like all ATKs I have seen. Anybody knows what model that is?
6. I like the music. Good luck with finding the right bass player.
7. How often does it need to be fed, and why doesn't it need a knife? At least it's not vegetarian Good looking bass!!
8.
Have you made a decision yet?
I thought a decision was made on post #41. Are we having another round?
9.
I went to see The Cure again last night. Simon Gallup has the poses...he also skips about the stage in fits and starts....i have no idea how he manages to not miss a beat (other than the fact his basslines are simple)...the way he looks like he's trying to push his bass into the floor all the time impresses me. just saying
Yes he does look cool. Unfortunately the sound, bass in particular, was rubbish. But he was a good example of giving something to look at when the rest of the band is mostly static; which helps with making it a great show (in this case despite the sound).

11.
I'm not sure what you mean by the bit I've underlined? One position is series and the other position is parallel.
That's right, but it's supposed to be "up" is parallel and "down" is series, mine does the opposite. Otherwise yes, I have only played with it one evening but it is incredibly versatile.
If you want the series/parallel to work in the opposite direction, take the plate off, undo the screws and turn the switch round similar to what you did with the plate. I'd rather do that than take it back for repair under warranty - it's a 5 minute job. G.
I did try that, but the switch is connected to the others so it is not really possible without unsoldering. I suppose I'll live with it, I have never bought a new bass before so I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't perfect. Thanks guys, it is a great bass and really beautiful in white.
12. So this thread totally GASsed me. And I bought the last Olympic White one I could find. It is fabulous, but the pickup switches were not functioning as expected. It took me a while to realise that the control plate had been fitted upside down (neck pickup switch towards the bridge and the series/parallel switch towards the neck). I have flipped it but the series/parallel switch works the opposite of how it should. This is quite disappointing and makes me wonder if the QC was non existent and there might be other issues with it? Should I get it repaired under warranty in any case? Thanks.
13. I am not interested at all but I have something completely different I am also sellling for £45. PM me.
14. The seller has not responded to my contact attempts over the past couple of days, so that bass may be there a while
15.
Just found that myself - £130-odd for a new bridge though! Pretty sure without all the gubbins, what's on the bass will still work like a conventional bridge.
Yes, rather pricey. I agree there is enough left of bridge to work just fine. I think the fine tuning screws can easily be bought. Only the detuner will be unusable.
16. Well done, I love mine. There this German shop selling Hohner parts: http://www.hohner-cshop.de/en/Guitar/Headless-Bass-Series/Basses-Bass-Headless-BB/Hohner-BBass4/
17.
Pmt list them as in stock in Romford. http://www.pmtonline.co.uk/ashdown-b-social-stereo-desktop-bass-amp-in-black
Thanks! That will have to be a weekend job.
18. Is there any shop in London or Nottingham where it s possible to try one of these b-Socials?
19. I believe that Wunjo stocks some Eastwood basses, maybe worth giving them a call see if you can try one?
20. And now it's gone.
21. Just seen this: https://www.gumtree....bass/1163839766 I know these are popular around here and this seems a good price (£160 - but active circuitry is defective). If it was closer to me I would probably have a go.
22. The link at the top takes me to a different web site (acmebass.com) you may want to check your hyperlink. Thanks for posting this review.
23. Only just saw that. Have you still got it or is it gone? I have a B-Bass, so I would quite like to see the catalogue entries for it.
24. Is that the ghost of a double neck guitar that can be seen on the lid's foam?
