1. Thanks OldG. What about left (fretting) hand? I find that when I slide from one octave to a higher one my index goes nicely against the fret but my ring finger ends up in between the frets and the high note buzzes. Just lots if practice again?
2. Thanks guys. I'll experiment with getting closer to the bridge and angling the bass as Fionn suggested. Topo Morto, that's a bit advanced for me! Little finger! I just need to be comfortable enough to play basic octaves. Not ready to funk. Like that Rocco video made me laugh: "practice high lows and low highs" and then he demonstrates with that cazy bassline.
3. So that's it? Just hard work and lots of practice? Damn, I was hoping to find some magic formula
4. That's really good. I like that you have to open it up to change the strings. Ashbory strings it seems?
5. What about the Hofner Shorty? http://www.hofner-guitars.com/electric-basses/solid-body-basses/hct-shb-bk-0.html Small body but the neck might bo too long (30" scale).
6. Thanks fonzoooroo, good idea! I'll try to get some cheap tapered strings and give it a go.
7. Hi, It is time to change the strings on my bass, and I am suddenly concerned I may not be able to put any old strings on it. It's a Hohner b-Bass with a massive bridge with fine tuning pegs on it (essentially some screws pressing down on the strings). Would strings tapered at the ball end be suitable or will they cause issues with the fine tuners (I am thinking that they may not approve of a much smaller string diameter to press on)? The internet does not seem to have an opinion on this matter. Cheers.
8. 4 strings, 4 fingers, I thought I could manage that. And the likes of The Cure and Joy Division.
9. Hi, I am new to the forum, sorry if I am bumping this post (doesn't seem all that old). I have recently acquired a Hohner B-Bass too, a slightly different model with the battery in the same compartment as all the wiring and the pre-amp, I am not sure if it is older or newer. But anyway, I did some research when I got it, in case I ever needed to fix it (it worked absolutely fine when I got it) and found a wiring diagram in an old basschat discussion at: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=44498 Just passing it on in case you are still interested. This is a cracking bass, I hope you manage to fix it!
