Fishman have just brought out something comparable, there's a thread on it on here. Personally I would look to combine a separate gain unit and harmoniser/octaver in one loop together. If it's say octave up and down you're after, you can't go wrong with the EHX Micro Pog, or if it's something more complicated you're after (say +/- 5ths, 4ths etc), perhaps look at the Eventide Pitch Factor? The Digitech Whammy also provides all kinds of cool harmonies and shifts. Combine any of those with a fuzz/distortion pedal of your choice and you'll get that sound.

You could do that sound with a Wah after a distortion unit. I used to do it myself with a 105Q running after a Muff variant.

To me, being in tune is really important. It's being OUT of tune that really kills a vibe for me, and unfortunately I've shared the stage with many musicians who haven't bothered to check before playing. Shudder, shudder.

It is a fantastic multi effects unit for the price. I used one live and in the studio for about 3 years and it didn't fail me once. Have a quick search on this forum, there's loads of golden info about it on here. I left my board at Uni last year but had a gig to do so I took this instead and fell back in love with it. I've since gone for single stomps, but don't let that detract from what is a brilliant pedal. I especially enjoyed being able to assign the expression pedal to any parameter and having such a diverse range of effects available. I loved all the modulation effects, especially the choruses, the delays were great too, however many gripe over the overdrive and synth sounds: although I agree that the Synth module is limited, I still used it well. With regards to the overdrive section, I think that such a criticism is completely unfair. In fact I still come back to the fuzz patch I created every now and then as it reacts very well with other overdrive pedals I use and has oodles of lowend, For the price, expect £80-100, I don't think it can be beaten. Would I go multi again? Possibly, but I'd get an M9 and not use the overdrive section, incorporating it with my current stomp setup.

I've had a bit of a reshuffle on my pedalboard, moved across to a PT-Jr to give me a little more space and to neaten things up considerably. Still playing with a small board, thanks to being at Uni and thus having a tourman being a little excessive at the moment, but here's what I'm rocking: Apologies for the grainy Blackberry pic. The powerstation is now mounted beneath the pedalboard to make it look a bit neater, I had my Dynaverb squished on there as well but it looked a bit cluttered and I only use it a few times so it's no big loss. Would be nice to have my chorus on there, as well as my double looper etc, but needs must and it's bloody hard lugging a tourman on trains and buses! Never again!!

If it's an ampeggy kind of grind you're looking for, you can't really beat the VT Bass. Lots of love for it here on this forum, plenty of videos and demos about as well.

DD-6 is a good choice for this. DD-5 (if you can find one) would be better, especially with an external non latching footswitch.

Just at home watching the BBC coverage of Reading and Leeds this weekend and stumble across something hilarious... Is it just me or is Rick Birch playing a 200w Micro-VR through a SVT-810AV? Can't see a mic on the cab, just that little guitar holder on the top.

I've never had any problems with my MXR M-80 using my active bass however I always run into a buffered tuner first, so I can't give you an idea of how it copes with a pure active signal; but if I had to guess, I would say that it sounds the same.

Massive fan of the MXR-M80 here. I've gone on about it in other threads asking the same question so I won't bore you with details, but I've been using it live now for 4 years and never turn it off. If I lost my whole pedal board it really would be the first thing that I would replace. Switchable distortion, powerful 3 band eq, good noise filter on the distortion channel and a very clean DI. Each to their own, but I would pick it any day over the Sansamp.

+1 to Toddy's advice. I've seen players do this before and they all said the same thing to me: "cover with nail varnish/laquer to ensure they stay put!".

Haha I knew someone would mention the ODB-3! I really loved mine for the 4 years I used it live, not one complaint - it does what it does very well, especially in a band situation and there is a horrible prejudice built up around it which I don't think it deserves - generally as a result of people not understanding how to the get the most out of the pedal and hating the fizzy, bee sound which it generates with gain maxed. Sorry I don't mean to rant on or be obnoxious - nice board PauBass!
