1. That second photo makes it look even tinier than I thought it was. If I just used a PT mini I'd get one fosho.
2. Interesting that the mains cable is wired in. Never had any problems with my powerstation, great products.
3.
Nice bit of bling there! how many pedals can you daisy chain from a single power supply?
Well it all depends how much mA it pumps out. The Visual Sound One Spot has 1700 mA on tap for example, so as long as the combined mA draw is less than that figure you'll be fine. Hence you could run 17 100 mA drawing pedals from it if you really wanted to. Basically: every pedal has its own mA draw, so add em all up (check the user manual or online for tech. spec) and see what you need to be able to supply. My Diago powerstation has 3,000 mA available so I've never really come close to maxing it out. EDIT: of course that is supplied at 9v DC (negative tip) - which is what most pedals require these days. Some don't however, but it is possible to work around that issue.
4. I think you wanna ask Shep on this one!
5. Just a nice fuzz into a filter firing downwards is going to get you close. I've only messed around with the song once with a band, but I added some octave down in as well to beef it up.
6. I would say so yeah - I think Wolstenholme is using one of those Electrix Filter Factorys, with an Ernie Ball pedal used as an expression pedal to control the sweep. You can use the standard Xero just like that, and the deluxe can also function in the same manner if you turn the Sensitivity all the way down so that the filter doesn't trigger and that you're only using the LPF - using an expression pedal to control the sweep.
7. Well it's infectious: I really, really want one without having to import it, so I'm imploring the good people of BC to sell me one.
8. It sounds like a low pass filter after Octave and Fuzz to me, with the range starting from below what even sounds to be audible!
9. To be honest, this pedal isn't really going to give you that kind of always on sound. For that you really need to look more towards a lower gain overdrive, perhaps like the Wren & Cuff Phat Phuk B, Catalinbread SFT or maybe a Fulltone Bassdrive. A Sansamp Bassdriver could be just what you're after for an always on kind of low gain sound, with extra EQ control - this is what I bought my MXR M-80 for. I've had an ODB-3 for years and think it's a great pedal, if you use it properly. With the gain around 11o'clock, blend favouring the clean side and the eq set roughly at 12, you'll get a nice thick bottom to really give some umph in sections where you need it - I would generally roll back the highs slightly and boost the lows too. It's not really that subtle to be honest though so I don't think it's the right pedal for the job, sorry to say.
10. Congrats man, very well deserved.
11.
My guitarist now has a bigger board than me. This must be changed!
I've got a Diago Tourman you can take off my hands if you like
12.
Well that's the next blog post written!
Keep up the blog man, I've really enjoyed reading it.
13. I find the the BBM sits quite nicely with my band, especially in dry mode. When my guitarist goes to eleven his fuzz choice is a rat anyway, so there's not too much of an issue of the mid scoop making me lost. If you find that it does however, you could always run it in a loop with an EQ pedal to bring back some of those precious mids. I know that's what the bassist from And So I Watch You From Afar does and his parts sound very meaty when he kicks his BBM on, even fighting against two very distorted guitars.
14. OC-2 still available? I'm interested.
15. Filter models on the B3 are meant to be pretty nice. To be honest, I think the B3 sounds absolutely perfect for your needs, you're definitely the kind of player they must have had in mind when creating it. I would gladly get one myself but I know that there's a few things I wouldn't be able to do with it that I would like to.
16. Try swapping this into the Items Wanted subsection of the classifieds, might have a little more luck.
17. Yeah, I love mine as I'm sure everyone knows. Some don't like the imposed EQ structure upon the distortion channel, but in a band mix it sits really nicely. Secret is definitely in the blend control.
18. Ha well that's what happens when all your cables are cable tied and you can't be bothered to undo them just to try a new pedal! I was actually really blown away by the Proton, I know I prefer the Xerograph because of its' tweakability and expression control, but it's just so musical and intuitive. May have to stay anyway, though we'll see. I'd gladly trade it for an Analogman Mini Chorus w/deep mod or an Oxide.
Eskimo, that is a beautiful setup you have there. Some day I'll be using that same PT Jr. too..
You say PT jr now... you'll end up on something bigger like a Diago Tourman before you know it! I sure as hell did and have only just been able to convince myself to downsize. I only got a smaller board before because taking a massive board to university and on public transport wasn't feasible.
19. Here's what I was briefly messing around this weekend: Hopefully getting a TAFM in soon, still desperately searching for an IE Oxide and a nice chorus pedal aswell. Will all be transferred with an EP-2 for the Xero onto a PT-2 over easter - which will also be when I assault the classifieds with a great long list of gear to sell!
20. I've used an OC-3 in poly mode for years now, I can get it to track down to A and below without warble. Yes it is digital, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Super cheaps too.
21. Your OC-2 in the classifieds is really tempting me, but I am just happy with my OC-3 instead to be honest. I mean yeah I would like to have that iconic phat dubby sound on tap, but the OC-3 is nice and precise - it would some convincing to push me over to the analogue side.
22. A little different to what's been posted so far, but my drummer (amongst his other drumming duties) has been doing kids workshops for a while, here's an instructional video with Funky Junk Trio. He's the one with the mop on the right: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVRBJMEjZ8Q&feature=colike My guitarist is also desperately talented on the acoustic/folk front, couldn't find a video of his project High Beck Hill anywhere, but if anyone is interested here's a link to their bandcamp with some great music to stream. My favourite has to be Kingdom Blues: http://highbeckhill.bandcamp.com/
23. A valve in a guitar? I think if I played it there would be tears and broken glass everywhere.
24. I just received some pedals through the post from him this morning. Sent special delivery they arrived quickly and were packaged well too. Thanks a lot mate, pleasure doing business.
