    BOSS ME-50

Yeah it'll be fine; the bass version does have bass specific modelling and I think most of the effects are modelled for bass frequencies but I've never noticed much difference (I have an ME-20 for bass and for guitar and they both sound the same to my ears). Truckstop
  2. Bought Andy's TurboRat off of him and it came on time and his communication has been top notch! Cheers Andy, good luck with the wedding! Alex
  3. I find Strat style guitars best to learn on. Wider sting spacing, passive electronics, lots of tonal variation, easy to maintain, no diddly locking nuts or Floyd rose trems, basic no-name ones are excellent value for money and they always look great in any setting. I've always used Squier Strats because I know they always work and are always well constructed. It's also nice to know that if you want to experiment with different bridges and pups, you can! 4. Oh good! Because I've been a bassist all my life I feel weird not having any gear to show the band mates or take to gigs! So, mic and cable it is then! Cheers guys Alex
  5. Hello all, Over the last few weeks I've found myself a terrific role as the lead vocalist/frontman of a metal band. I have my own mic (SM-58) and a stand. As we look to start performing live in the coming months is there any gear I should be looking at to make life easier? Cheers Alex
  6. This is an awesome price for a great bit of kit. I rave about the Workingman's range to anyone that'll listen! Amazing build quality, great tone and the cabs really not as heavy as you may think. GLWTS Alex
  7. I think I'd buy matching flight cases for my SWR combos and then all the gear I'd need for bi-amping and mic-ing them up. Basswise; I think another 1024x would be just fine! Truckstop
  8. I'm struggling with Gumtree at the moment. Had an ad up in the 'wanted' and the 'available' sections in order to increase my visibility so I've had loads of responses but all useless. I'm pretty open as to what in looking for and I'm up to jam with almost anybody; it's just been a logistical nightmare! They either live miles away and don't drive or they live next door but with no gear and work nights or something. Gah! Alex Ps; if anyone's interested I'm a bassist/screamer looking for dudes to start a metal band with in herts/west London.
  9. No worries mate, thanks for the reply! GLWTS Alex
  10. I would say my BB424x. I have two now, but I prefer to use the one I bought first. I prefer the pup selector switch to knobs and the pups sound huge and nasty! Comfy neck, handsome, great feel, great build quality and excellent value for money. Mind you, I may well go back to Blazers! Truckstop
  11. What power supply does the Guv'nor need? 9v or 18v? Cheers Alex
  12. On the plus side, Korn's rendition of One was actually pretty awesome! Truckstop
  13. Peavey Firebass 700. I think the loudest and biggest head I ever owned. Cracking sound, looks mean and costs nothing. I picked mine up for £120 a year ago. Truckstop
  14. Massive DT fan but I agree with the sentiments running through this thread. Since Scenes From A Memory they seem to have lost the charm that they had. There's no sense of fun anymore and it's all very dry and cold. Totally over-produced! I really wish they'd just stop trying to be a heavy band, it's weird and I don't like it. Truckstop
  15. Keep a Squier and a decent combo. Why would you need anything else? Truckstop
  16. I cannot recommend Marshall pedals enough; I think they're awesome! Very well made with a lush natural tone to them. £70 for a pair of really decent pedals and some spare leads AND a spare wall wart?! Bargain! Alex
  17. Well if the top's as nice as the one on the advert, then yeah, some sort of light stain or wash would look great! Oh dear. I really want one for myself now! Truckstop
  18. Also, some people are freeloading ***** that'll never pull their finger out and need to be kicked to the curbside as fast as possible. Truckstop
  19. Maybe find a different way into the solo section? Break down the riff a bit, maybe a pause or two and then go into the riff. I don't think effects are much good at 'filling' out sonic space. You need to find a way to keep the groove going using what you have; change the drumbeat, change the riff, simplify, work it out! Does the guitarist have his solo down yet? Maybe work on it with him to make the change smoother. Maybe have some vocalising or scat over the first few bars of the solo? Maybe experiment with an EQ pedal to boost the frequencies that are missing now that the guitar part's no longer there? Truckstop
  20. Honestly, leave it! Or if you absolutely must re-finish it, go for a 2 tone tobacco burst. Looks great with a black pick guard and all that chrome. Truckstop
  21. Exactly! It's a difficult thing to try to explain to someone, "sing from your guts" etc but once you get the hang of it it almost becomes second nature and doesn't even make a mark on ones throat/vocal chords at all. I do tend to get a slight sore throat after doing it for a while but that's just down to all the air I'm inhaling and exhaling often pretty violently. Did you take any lessons or did you just start doing it one day? Truckstop
  22. Behringer BDI-21! Less than a quarter of the cost of a SansAmp and does the same thing. At least this way you can see if you like extra grit for not much money rather than take the hit on a more expensive pedal. Truckstop
