  1. They look sick! Chrome! Steampunk! Truckstop
  2. +1 on the RBXJM Charic!! Brass bridges look great I think, on any colour. I think when you get gold machine heads and knobs and frets and stuff it gets a bit silly. Loving the porn in this three by the way! Truckstop
  3. Some, like the John East J-retro/P-retro are designed to drop straight into an existing cavity. Some may require drilling for extra knobs and a cavity for batteries to be dug out. Those types should be fitted by a professional! Personally, I'd go for an on the floor one. You may risk reducing the value of your bass and you may want to buy a new bass in the future and you'll have to chop up the old one AND the new one! Try a Behringer BDI-21. Great value for money and sound just as good as a SansAmp. Truckstop
  4. Would like to re-iterate; do not attempt this yourself. It is a bastard. Truckstop
  5. Personally I'd invest and just buy a 1025. I have both (424 and a 1024) and cannot recommend the 1000 series enough. The sum is more than the value of its parts. You could upgrade the parts on your 425 but you wouldn't end up with a bass as good as a 1025. Truckstop
  6. Very, very cool!
  7. Ha ha amazing! I love Disturbed. Truckstop
  8. Yeah but you have to bang Trudi Styler.
  9. Shout - Tears For Fears! I've never been able to convince anybody to try it in any of my bands ever. They're always worried that you can't do it without synths, but you totally can if you get creative! Truckstop
  10. Sort of matters because the speakers in the combo will be working harder under the same power from the head. The speakers in the extension cab will be underpowered (or rather will be working less) which MIGHT affect the sound because the speakers in the combo might be rattling away and breaking up while the speakers in the cab are working as they should. Unless you're playing really big stages though I can't see why you'd want a 4x10. A 2x10 will be plenty! Truckstop
  11. Do it. Sell them all and start again. Who cares? They're only possessions. If I stopped gigging tomorrow I'd probably sell everything and if I needed a bass and an amp for a job I'd buy or borrow gear from someone else. Truckstop
  12. Likely story.... http://britfa.gs/b/src/138549250019.jpg But seriously though, terrible news. I hope all you stuff's ok and it's all covered by insurance if not. Alex
  13. Sadly, yes I got a gig that required more tonal flexibility and bought a BB424x and sold one of the Blazers to part fund it; a 1024x shortly followed as did the loss of another Blazer. At the moment I have only a loaded body at home. Currently searching for a neck! Anyway, here's a link to what I'm talking about: http://www.guitarandampshop.co.uk/acatalog/Stagg_RB-2U_2_Unit_Rack_Bag.html?gclid=CN6hhqyu1LwCFSTkwgodIGkALA The actual ends of the rack bag are not flush with the 'box' part of it. There's like an extra 2 or 3 inches of space beyond the zipper so that larger things can fit. I used to use a rack bag for a particularly large C-Mark power amp; wouldn't fit in a case, but a bag had a little bit of extra give so it'd fit. Truckstop
  14. Edit- deleted expletive Truckstop
  15. Warped pick guard looks great. Leave it! Welcome to Basschat. Truckstop
  16. Rack bags have an inch or two give at each end. Maybe try one of those? Can be had cheap on eBay! Truckstop
  17. I prefer passive purely because I don't like having extension leads and crap all over the place. Truckstop
  18. I wonder if these sound anything like a 'real' Streamer? Would you mind giving some of your thoughts as to it's tonal qualities please? Alex
  19. Last time I saw them was 2003 (I think) at the Hammersmith Apollo on their Train of Thought tour and remember being distinctly unimpressed with their live sound. Everyone apart from Petrucci sounded flat and tame. Probably sounded great on stage though. I wouldn't see them again. I prefer to listen to them at home on CD; terrific production values and you can really hear what they're trying to achieve. Live it's too loud and it lacks the crispness that a band like DT need. Truckstop
  20. Wow that's actually quite reasonable. Might pick one up for my little SWR combo! Truckstop
  21. About $64,000 I'd imagine
  22. Nice
  23. Or is as metal as f***.
