1. I wouldn't mind having a go at Spirit Of Radio myself, did you pick it up just by listening to the track?
2. I use Ritter bags, and IMO, they're the dogs danglies. Spend as much as you can, the top end bags are worth the extra.
3. I just got my hands on one of these, and I'm knocked out by it. Very nice bass indeed.
4. Yep, maybe the one bass I lust after the most, but will never own. Stunning bass.
5. The Schecter is the mutts nuts mate, glad you like the K5, it's a great bass.

OLP

I have an OLP Tony Levin that have to muck around on at home. Nice bass, plays well, fit and finish a bit iffy in places, but it's a great bass with a great tone, although I have upgraded the pup and pots, so the tone bit doesn't count. Don't compare an OLP to a Stingray though, I've had both, and they're completely different in almost every way, apart from the shape. If there's an ATK to be had, and Barry44 is selling his, I'd buy that myself.
7. Epiphone Thunderbird springs to mind. Biggest sound I ever produced was from one. Get the goth version for your dark satanic look.
8. Barry44 is selling one.
9. Find a good luthier/tech to do it for you first off, Paul at Arrowhead guitars, one of our own on here is a good option.
10.
Are there some serious reliability issues with these then?
Heck yes. Always the footswitch. I was warned before I bought mine. The problem is the switch is buried amongst all the gubbins inside, and not easy to get at. I just don't want to wreck the thing trying to do it myself.
11. Superb, I'm jealous. I'd love to try upright. Can't see it happening anytime soon though.
12. Ha ha, I know, I've had a look in there and thought..............er................no.
13. Went down well, and the Trace sounded good. Why is there always a notice board behind us, every bloody place we play? We had some rather nice young ladies up and dancing, which is always good for bunch of old farts to oggle at. Crap accoustics though, it was some kind of conference room, private party etc, but it was a good night.
14. I've tried dozens of makes, as we all have, close second favourites were the Warwick Black Labels. Powerful, clear, lasted over a year for me on a thunderbird, but were very abrasive on the fingers. The only strings I'll have, on all my basses now, are Ernie Ball Super Slinkys. They do all of the above too, and are kinder to my fingers.
15. Anyone know a good electrical wizard I can send mine to, to get a new footswitch fitted?

obbm's feedback

Lightning fast job as usual. High quality cable, wouldn't get one anywhere else. Top chap.
17. I gigged the Trace Elliot for the first time last night. I've taken the advice of many, and switched the graphic off, and switched on the tone shape 1 on which is the "classic" Trace sound apparently. I'll fiddle with the graphic over the coming weeks. During the course of the gig, I tweaked the gain and volume, and while using the Geddy Jazz for most of the gig, I ended up with, to my ears, a very authentic Geddy Lee tone, it sounded just awesome. In fact I had comments from the audience at the end to back that up. Excellent for its first outing I think. One thing that surprises me though was the fact that it isn't massively louder than the Roland was. Testament to the Roland and it's output for its size, or underwhelming output from the Trace? Well I don't think its the latter, the Trace is only 40W more than the Roland was at 200W, so I wouldn't expect a big difference between the two, but the Trace certainly has more thump with the extra paper. One thing the Roland had was LOADS of punch. It might not have had massive bottom end (although it was pretty good for that too), but it was bright and clear (maybe a bit too bright for some). The Trace doesn't have that initial punch on switching it on, but I'm sure I'll find it in time with the graphic. Overall, after the nightmares I had with this rig on its first outing, I'm very very happy with it now. The Geddy Jazz seems to go very well with it, and may now become my #1 gigging bass because of it. I've got all the thump I wanted and more, and with some tweaking I think I'll get the punch too. Very happy.
18. Top bloke, and the ATK is a top bass, you won't regret it.

Weddings
We're a slightly rockier modern covers band and we get plenty of weddings. People who are getting married now are (mostly) the younger generation, IMO they don't want WetWetWet and Robson & Jerome. We're doing a wedding in August where we've been asked if we can do some Rage Against The Machine........oh yesss Si
We just keep getting weddings, and to be honest, we don't want to do them, but the money's too good to turn away. We're doing Muse, Foos, Stereophonics, U2, Chillis, and we keep telling people we're not wedding music, but they keep booking us. I just get fed up with looking into the audience and seeing pensioners with fingers in thier ears, and children sliding across the dance floor on thier knees, while we're halfway through My Iron Lung by Radiohead. It's bizarre.
20. I ended up using my Marcus live in passive mode, it sounded fantastic. In the end, I've traded it out in favour of a Geddy, which is basically the same bass without the preamp. Both models, to me, are just brilliant basses. Love that P.
21. I'm interested too, as I was searching for the EBS, now I'm not so sure!!
22. My brother had a Hondo Les Paul in the late 70s, it was a great guitar, with DiMarzio super distortion pickups if I remember correctly. Played like a dream. I was in a metal band in th 80s with a guy who also used one as his main guitar, it sounded just stunning. While the rest of us fannied about with vintage strats and precisions, Chris ripped it up with his Hondo and killed the lot of us, he was an awesome player. That Hondo P looks great to me, and at 50 quid? cool.
23.
It's Dave's Russ - I'm thinking of doing the same mod to mine.
THAT Dave, is a stunning looking bass guitar. Can't wait to hear Alans' live.
24. Very very very nice indeed. Messa just looks the bomb doesn't it? It bet it sound immense.
