1. Nomeansno are sooooo good : D
2. Get a Sansamp Seriously though, for me it's a pick, a slight bass and low mid boost, and a slight treble cut. A bit of overdrive for flavour.
3. I like them, it would be nice if there was an option to turn them on if it's possible.
4. Stunning!
5. Absolutively!
6. I've listened to the new PJ Harvey record a few times now, and I think it's easily the best thing she's done. It's rare that after hearing a record for the first time I'll feel compelled to listen to it again in full immediately, but that's exactly what I needed to do in the early hours of this morning with Let England Shake. Amazing record.
7. Let England Shake - PJ Harvey. This record is utterly fantastic so far (still listening). Radiohead are going to have a job beating it this week.
8. Beautiful bass. Very classy.
9. Awesome! I saw you guys playing in London, with Thomas Pridgen drumming. Some amazing grooves you two had going! Keep up the good work
10. On my P it goes under the scratchplate near the neck. On my Spector, I have a pick wedged in between the bridge pickup and the body.
11. Bump for a flippin' bargain.
12. When I saw NOFX live, he was playing his Danelectro DC 59 into an Ampeg head and an Ampeg 8x10, as far as I could make out. Great sound out front too, punchy and slightly overdriven.
13. Arrrgh, I want to watch this but quicktime is disabled at work. I love Juan's playing and the crazy noises he gets out of all those pedals!
14. Very cool IMO!
15. First things first, I'd check the nut and ensure the B string isnt sitting on top of the nut slot - you would normally need to file a typical 4 string nut slightly to accomidate BEAD stringing. It could throw your intontation off if its not quite right and will probably make fretting low notes on the B harder than it needs to be. If that isnt the case, then it may be worth considering re-mounting the bridge a few mm back from its normal position to give you a range of intonation adjustment more suited for BEAD. Probably only worth doing that if you intend to keep the bass in that tuning, of course.
16. I love the thought of being in a band with non conventional instrumentation. I love the natural synthesis of sound that occurs when you pair up certain instruments, flute and clarinet for instance combine and become something greater than the individual tone of the instrument.

Did you ever get any soundclips done of this fella? I'd love to do a similar project, only with a P body and 5 strings.
18. Chilled blues?
19. Sounds like an emphasis on the high mids to me, compared to the usual P bass low mid thump.
20. Yeah, I'd just buy a Spector! Mine's got EMG HZ and an EMG BTS preamp, which work very well together. Big, punchy bottom end.
21.
But what was the point of " boring. go home. leave" ?
"Move along, nothing to see here".
22. I had a '99 US Standard Fender Jazz for a while, bought used for £550. It was sublime, I regret selling it. Fit and finish were top notch, it was resonant, lively, and sounded great. The only improvements I would have wanted were rolled fingerboard edges and perhaps a better bridge. Try a few new Fenders, standard or deluxe. If they've kept the quality up then I doubt you could be disappointed with a good one.
23. Most 300 watt heads will have a fan, why is it an issue? If I were to choose a 300 watt head, I probably would go for a Tech 21 Landmark 300. Used to own one and it sounded fantastic. You could use a more powerful head of course, which will give you more options in the long term (such as the 500 watt Markbass heads) - it wont do any harm, just turn it down if you hear distortion.
24. Famously lacking people skills, yes.
