  1. Great songs, Tomorrows Girls particularly good for us bassists.
  2. Yep the Boss WL20 works well, pretty much the easiest to use on the market, just plug them together and they do it all for you. If concerned about running on 2.4 as the Boss does then NUX do one that runs on 5.8 and is almost as easy to use - a couple of small on/off buttons.
  3. I’m in agreement Dave, if I can I play the song exactly, if there’s no way of working it out - and if YouTube doesn’t have it - then at that point I’ll settle for what I think it is. But I won’t add in stuff that wasn’t there, for me being as near to the original is the all important factor.
  4. A benefit of this is not then spending your share straight back over the bar, so you end up with actual money, albeit at a later date.
  5. Following on from both my earlier post and @petebs post, weather - hot and it’s Fahrenheit, cold and it’s Centigrade. I suppose I’m just an honorary member of The Don’t Know Party.
  6. Try Elixirs, due to the coating brand new their rounds sound like other brands do after a couple of weeks use, and they stay like that for about a year.
  7. For me certain things are ok in metric others not, but it’s not only metric. If someone says someone is 18 stone I can visualise their size, change that to the equivalent in pounds and I’m nowhere, both are imperial. Swap to sending an item via a courier and I’m good with kilos, pounds and ounces, well I’m lost. But basses, well they’re pounds and ounces.
  8. Yes the Barefaced 12s range are very clear & flat sounding, the 10s being more vintage and having a thicker sound. The low mids on your amp are at 380, whereas to me for what your describing I’d be looking at adding anywhere from 100 to 250 so maybe add in a cheap graphic eq to see if you can achieve what you want, should give an idea of where to move forwards.
  9. Yeah not fun at all, just as you get your brain sorted as to really knowing yourself and your life bits start stopping working or falling off, bah 😠
  10. Agree Terry, I can get pretty near my Precisions with my Jazz, front pickup on full, bridge pickup 30%, tone 70%.
  11. He was bassist in Pink Flod I think…….
  12. Ha, different way for me, in one band the singer guitarist is about 5ft6 so with me at 6ft playing a short scale bass I look like a giant in comparison 😂
  13. My band played in Malta earlier this year and because I hate flying they got our new guitarist to play bass. He has his Aerodyne Jazz strung with Fender flats, and through his Sansamp it sounded great. So flats can work well in garage punk/rock, it just seems that I can never manage it myself. What I liked was the solid low end but without booming and overtones.
  14. I remember that rig from the SE Bass Bash, surprising amount of sound from such a small set up.
  15. A bit like a pint glass that`s never empty then - best have two!!
  16. With the shorter scale tension will probably be less so 45-105 on a 32 should feel similar to 40-100 on a 34.
  17. Only when they’ve had to hand over their clothes, boots and motorcycles will they learn.
  18. Yeah get better soon @Bluewine
  19. I think it’s because our “low” behaviour is mostly on our basses.
  20. Nice Les Paul bass, great colour on the ‘burst.
  21. It didn’t feel like I’d been away at all Dave, even when playing material written after I’d left. I was with them 2013-19 but had kept in some form of touch with them. Overall was really good, and great to hear some good-hearted “send him back he’s rubbish” from some of the old crowd.
  22. Just got in from a Knock Off gig (my old band which I’m standing in for) at The O2 Academy, Islington. Was a Vive Le Rock event with a load of great bands, being headlined by Cocksparrer. Load in was 5pm, had our own dressing room and refreshments, then on at 6pm for a short sharp shock set of 30mins. We played well, no errors, backline was provided and it was Blackstar amps - for bass was a Unity 700H & Unity 410C that my trusty JMJ Mustang & Behringer BDI21 went through, with both DI and miked cab. Was quite touched to hear a good few people calling my name out when we were setting up, and afterwards caught up with some people I’ve not seen since I left in 2019. Again the black New Balance trainers got the job, might not be particularly punk but neither is having sore feet!
  23. I don’t know about the Bugeras but the Ashdowns & Peaveys will be fine. Of the two brands Peavey are virtually indestructible, Ashdown are UK based with great customer service so any problems they can sort so that’s where I would be looking to put my money.
  24. I remember it from the Ex Boyfriends gig you & Andy etc did in Hitchin, when I was the transport manager for the evening (as in, drove you both there).
  25. Sounds promising, fingers crossed for you it works out
