It looks very futuristic, 25kg for the whole set-up is great, a real investment for your back in later years, as well as your ears now.

I ordered a good few items from Electro Music back in the day, they always seemed to have a good stock of 2nd hand stuff at reasonable prices.

Not exactly, but I did think that when I played a Fender Road Worn Precision that it was one of the most comfortable playing basses I’d ever played and that I’d be just as happy using one of those as I was with my US Standard Precision.

15kg for a 410, that’s just madness, congrats I’m sure that will make gigging life a lot easier

Yamaha BBs are very good basses, my first “proper” bass was a BB1100s, did many a gig and recording session with that bass. This was back in the years when I couldn’t afford a backup, it never let me down.

We’ve played with enough bands like that, turn up eat as much of the provided food as possible, do their set then leave immediately carrying as much of the provided beer as they can.

Yep, they just introduced the band and I purposely listened out to find out who he was, and yes he’s very good, one song involved a rather fast amount of riffing and it looked like a walk in the park to him.

Just watching the prog about Jeff Lynne & ELOs Wembley concert. Pretty good, decent sound - which must have been difficult considering how many instruments- and a left handed bassist playing with the strings from G at the top to E on the bottom - obviously learned on a right handed one upside down.

Difficult to argue against those, plenty within budget and plenty enough for pub gigs.

I too found the regular Markbass cabs to have a high-end roll-off, had similar experiences with DI-ing. Maybe they’ve just designed the Marcus cabs to have a fuller range.

Yep, a fairly recent addition to their range, and - imo having the same cabs - a good one too. They also do a 112 and 115 in the range.

I remember the time we played there, we were on at 1pm in Glasgow, then had to hack it down to Blackpool for the evening shift at The Waterloo at 7:30pm. Given we’d done Gateshead the night before it might be possible to say we were a little tired….

The Waterloo is ok, not the best venue but a decent PA. Only downside is if it’s busy getting gear in and out can be a pain. If you have merch I’d get there early and nab a space to set it all up. Have a good ‘un, at some point I’ll get round to one of your gigs when they’re a bit nearer, loved the material you put up on here.

Nothing wrong in letting off some steam, just don’t do it when you have valuable possessions with you. That’s why, when I was a drinker, that I hated gigging, either I was driving so couldn’t partake at all or on a luxury non-driving gig I still had all that gear to look after.

I prefer 45-100s as you can get more bass onto the G & D without swamping the E & A and making them too boomy. Especially on a Precision where the pickup placement puts the thinner strings over the nearer to the bridge pickup, helps to balance it out a bit.

Can the Ashdown PRO-NEO ABM cabs be added - probably only a kg or two heavier than their Rootmaster cabs.

And let’s not forget this was 50 odd years ago. Sure drummers of today would do things differently/better, but that’s with the benefit of those 50 plus years of music to take inspiration from. Pretty much the same with Macca on bass, what The Beatles were doing back then was way ahead of the time, but judging them on todays standards & styles is pointless.

Darn, only just seen this post. Still I’m sure it will be on again, will keep my eyes open for this.

In my last band as we took all our cues from the singer (who was also the guitarist) our monitor requirements were lead vox & guitars in all monitors plus our own vocals in our own monitors. Made things quite easy for whoever was on the desk as well, rather than “a tad more attack on the upper mids on the snare” and all that which I have heard people ask for.

Agree, it was about guitars & basses til he showed his curly mop.

I’ve gone from traditional sized 410 & 210 (210 just for bigger gigs) to two lightweight 210s, which have diagonally spaced cones. Much easier to cart about, easier to place in the car, smaller footprint on stage, higher up than my 410 so easier to hear, all round makes life easier. Not overly expensive either, though they can now be had for much less than I paid, grr.
