  1. The Ampeg SVT212 is meant be very near in sound to the 810 & 610 so may be worth checking out. Edit - and there’s one up for grabs on here at present.

Sounds about right Dave, I do that on all of mine.
  3. 3 gigs a year more than warrants a new bass, looks great

    Two nice ones there Dave
  5. I think you’re in for a difficult task, trying to find better than those, Chris.
  6. So an update to this, as my number 1 is a black/black/maple US Standard Precision from the 2013-16 Series it`s suddenly dawned on me that maybe having the same bass for gigging might be a wise move. So one has been purchased, just got to drive all the way to near Torquay to collect it. Dang, I suffer for my art!
  7. That’s a great way to put it Steve, something I found out by accident but which is so spot on.
  8. +1, I don’t think I can add anything to this thread other than echo the sentiments already expressed.
  9. I`ve found that whilst I`ll never be 100% happy, due to the room/stage etc, put a steel round-wound strung Precision connected to an amp that can drop low-mids in my hands and I`m going to get a sound that works for me. But that`s taken many years to establish, though as said it`s been great fun finding it out. Jazz basses, Stingrays, Compressors, HPFs, all were a good experience but I`ve just found out that they`re not really "me".
  10. They do have a lot of low end, but I got Ashdown to seal the ports on mine and it tightened up the sound nicely.
  11. I’d reckon so, my ABM410 was plenty enough for gigs so can’t see the 210 not being enough in a rehearsal room.
  12. Poor Alvin, a thoroughly decent chap, def doesn’t deserve this.
  13. I’m just trying to imagine the case or gigbag needed for that.
  14. Those ABM combos have a reassuringly good sound to them, congrats Dave.
  15. Yep, that’s a good rig choice, CMD121 & NY121
  16. Is made by a company other than Fender (or Squier) if so very unlikely I’ll buy it.
  17. There`s a dedicated Ashdown ABM600 thread, Dave. As a proud ABM600 owner I`ll heartily recommend them, best amp I`ve ever had.
  18. I’d say the ABM600 puts out 300ish watts at 8ohms, but having had that exact same rig it’s plenty loud enough - for bigger gigs I added in an ABM210 but it wasn’t really needed, more of a luxury which looked nice (and it did sound good too, of course).
  19. Cheers Rob, I often have to swap the foam, this is an excellent solution
  20. I used the 410 version on a tour a few years back and it was great. My rig at the time was similar, ABM600 with ABM410 & 210. The SVT410HLF with my amp head was pretty similar for volume settings so can only assume the 610 will more than match up. I have read that the HLFs are just bottom end flub but that wasn’t my experience, I had a twangy driven sound and it was fine, didn’t even change my eq.
  21. Mono M80 or Vertigo. I use the M80 as the straps can be folded away, but they are pretty rucksack like on both of them.
  22. Seeing this rig makes me want to play guitar in a band again
  23. For what you`re looking at using the cab for I`d be tempted by these PRICE DROOP Two Ashdown RM210T cabs £100 each Diss - Amps and Cabs For Sale - Basschat
  24. I had the RM414 (the 4ohm 410) was plenty loud, and much lighter weight, around 50lbs thereabouts, would be ideal for the requirements.
