  1. That does look awesome, agree there’s def an opportunity there for someone
  2. Yep, although I don’t like bass in the monitors that much if it could be guaranteed that it would be there at sufficient levels for the whole band I’d happily gig with just my bass and a Sansamp or my Ampeg SCR-DI. I still prefer the sound of the bass from the amp behind me with just vocals (and a bit of guitar) in the monitors but it makes things a lot easier for all, providing the monitor mix is good enough of course.
  3. Wowzers, a JacksonFaker!!! Certainly sounded nice on that demo.
  4. Great bits of kit these, instant SVT sound, I like them so much I’ve got 2 - 1 for home, 1 for band use.
  5. What’s the bass at 3:30 then, is it some sort of RickenFaker?
  6. Like the sound of the Rick playing through it
  7. Oh yeah, and thinking about it a few years back I wanted a cheapie backup bass that could sit in its gigbag, one I wouldn’t be too concerned over but would be ok if needed. Found a Squier P on the bay, bought it now, then arranged with the seller to pick it up. He said he’d be out but he’d left instructions with his mum to do the handover. I knocked on the door, it opened, and my old friend from work who I hadn’t seen for 20 years was standing there.
  8. I sold a guitar (Gibson SG) earlier this year to a guy whose brother was the guitarist in Edison Lighthouse. Given that I absolutely loved Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes when I was a kid I was rather chuffed.
  9. It is a good question, whilst I really liked Oasis aside from a couple of songs afterwards I thought they peaked on the second album and were never as good again. I liked NGs Holy Mountain a few years back but other than that not really keen an anything either have done.
  10. Tis a rack of slimness, which I shall forever think of as the Kate Moss Rig
  11. One was def PMT as I took it back myself, I think the other was GuitarGuitar
  12. You’re right, there are no American Standards anymore, the US Professionals took over in 2016. The only range I’ve experienced QC issues with was the Players, I had 2 new ones that had “bulges” in the neck so were returned. That said I’ve had 2 others with no issues at all. As with anything it’s worth a visit to a shop and trying as many as you can out, and include the Vintera & Performer as well, you might find the right one in a range you’d not thought of. Then order online the colour scheme you’re after if the shop doesn’t have one in stock.

Great review Dan, front pickup very Precision-like!
  14. From what I understand the BF 10” range are focused more on upper bass rather than the deeper frequencies so as others have said probably the room not working well with the cab.
  15. I did a gig with my ABM600 through one of these, plenty of poke & volume, reckon two would be awesome.
  16. These really do make gigging a whole lot easier, they’re hardly bigger in width than a regular hard case but obviously hold your main bass & a backup, ideal for venues with limited gear storage. GLWTS
  17. That is a good call there DrT, a Jazz has the highs for that kind of material and can easily be backed off to get a nearly there Precision tone.
  18. Same, I’d only stick to my guns on songs I didn’t like if the audience didn’t like them either.
  19. Nah, just an over-tall singer 🤣
  20. They do seem to have issues with their gear, I have the SCR-DI pedal (great bit of kit) but once the power dwindles a bit a high pitched squeal comes from it. As such I’d only use it on a gig with either a brand new battery or a PSU - and in some venues finding a spare power socket for PSUs can be a challenge. Shame that such a well known and loved brand seems beset by reliability issues.
  21. Yes, can’t go wrong with a Precision of some sorts, can fit into most music styles.
  22. My advice would be to firstly think of the bassists whose sound you like. If it turns out they all use the same type of bass then getting something similar will be helpful. Secondly having said that a visit if possible to a good music shop and letting your hands find your bass will also be helpful. A lot of metal nowadays goes very low so a 5 string could be a good place to start, rather than possibly having to make the switch at a later date.
  23. It’s probably only one song as well…….
  24. Good call, these are great cabs
  25. More that I play gigs - or used to - with very clumsy band members. Plus some of those gigs could be a bit boisterous to say the least, so the fewer items that could be permanently broken the better. Should add, in one of my bands we had to all get wireless kits, not for the posing but that regularly amps would topple where Mr Clumsy1 wouldn’t realise he’d got tangled up in everyone’s leads. I seem to always end up in bands with the clumsiest of fools.
