  1. Check, check and check again your equipment before leaving. If it`s a 30min drive set off at least an hour before you need to get there. As long as you`re relaxed about your gear working and being on time anything else that may come your way can be dealt with at the time.
  2. Always driving for me, in both of my bands all I need to take is my Mono M80 as it holds bass/leads/tuner but I couldn`t do public transport to either of the rehearsal rooms we use as each is a 45min drive away.
  3. That’s a shame, was it with Rancid or Old Firm Casuals (and irrespective of that the most important question is what’s your band)?
  4. I think Lars just had a resting bee-atch face as he’s a decent chap, probably one of the most professional in approach people I’ve gigged with.
  5. Very gnarly indeed, wonder if it was all bass/amp or if pedal
  6. I’m a tad out of touch, didn’t know about this or may well have gone.
  7. I went to bass lessons at school, once I’d found out what & where the notes were I quit then taught myself to play from there. I never actually learned to play any actual songs at the lessons.
  8. He still looks uber cool. And she sounds rotten, they’d be better off as an instrumental group.
  9. For myself I like to have a home use bass and a couple of gigging basses, which I rotate so I get to use them both. They are all the same though (JMJ Mustangs). Plus my fave ever Precision of course which although I’m now a short scale guy I’ll never get rid of unless I’m really in the mire.
  10. Adding to the list, I bought a Fender JMJ Mustang Bass from Bass Bros, paid online on Friday morning, turned up today (Monday). Very well packaged indeed, thanks @Willfunk
  11. Played there a few times, loved it. In honour of the venue and the genre (punk) we added The Damneds New Rose to our set the first time we played there (as the vid was shot there apparently).
  12. That is amazing, really nails the 70s Precision sound, sadly I’m short scale from now on otherwise this would be chez Lozz!
  13. I thought it was @walshy?
  14. I wonder if it`s that some musicians (especially drummers?) find it difficult to make the transition from where they have to fill a room with sound from their own gear alone to suddenly having FOH to do the hard work for them that they keep on pounding as hard as possible.
  15. Which is in fact the correct Basschat response
  16. Looks great, real nice wear/mojo and awesome dark fretboard
  17. Fender/Sansamp/Ashdown The warmth of the Fender & Ashdown work well with the clinical sound of the Sansamp.
  18. No use for that I’m afraid, wouldn’t know what to do with a fret less bass other than to put frets on it. Well I’ll probably just use 8.5 at home and keep the other 2 for band use as they’re lighter but that’s not a bad idea at all.
  19. So Bass Bros had a black Fender JMJ Mustang at 7lb15, it would have been incredibly rude to not snap it up, should receive it next week. Then I’ll have 3. The sensible part of me says move the heaviest (8lbs5) on but I just love these little basses so much that I’m sure I’ll keep them all.
  20. Unless it affects playability or tuning stability leave as is.
  21. Yes, got a couple of Mustang ones from them, very good quality
  22. How much of the ABMs EQ do you use, if a fair bit then go DI from there. I’ve found that as cabs in general have a coloured sound (usually adding in low end) what goes to DI from an amp (or pedal) is less so, this making it easier for FOH to mix in.
  23. Having had both the ABM500 & 600 I found the 600 to be way more powerful. Maybe the extra EQ points help but it really was a different beast. Having put it through a Big Twin I couldn’t imagine the need for any more power.
  24. And if finding its still not working, unless the bass-line is an intrinsic part of the song dumb it down a tad.
  25. Don’t, that’s one of my pet hates, bands thanking, get on & play please!
