  1. Yep, get out the Flapometer
  2. I`m sure we can manage a 2023 relay - I`m J8 on M1 (20 miles north of London) I could get it up to the start of the M6 as part of it.
  3. Definitely. I`m quite willing to drive for a meet up am not posting items like basses or guitars. If it takes me longer to sell as a result, well as the French say, c`est la vie!
  4. Sorry chaps, didn’t mean specifically re delivery, it could have been if people had messaged him asking what colour the teapot he was selling was when the ad stated red teapot and the 13 photos all showed the colour. But he’s def no keyboard warrior, having seen him deal with a good many people in 1-2-1 situations when attacked (never saw him go first) he ain’t no shrinking violet in that aspect.
  5. A mate of mine used to tackle this by copying & pasting the text from the ad into the reply, then increasing the size of the font to massively large, and say I’ve attached the ad and made it easier for you to read. He then, when that didn’t seem to work either would just reply that he refused to sell to them as they were too stupid to read and understand what had been written. Harsh but fair maybe?
  6. I think that’s the way to go, play what feels best. Over the past few years I’ve been obsessing with tone and this and that, and have come full circle to deciding to play what I enjoy playing the most, and that I’ll just get as near as I can to the sound I want.
  7. Fender Precision 5s are quite wide, pretty sure it’s 19mm
  8. Sounds like a good week ahead, ably supported by Ashdown
  9. It might all have been the intensity of the performance.Seriously, this can happen. Many years ago I did a gig with a band I’d been in, got asked to stand in. After the gig a guy I knew asked what I was on as my performance was apparently quite good. Nothing, other than a few pints of lager, I was just chuffed to be doing a gig again and put my all into it. All that said tho, I reckon MK was like Tony Montana in Scarface, head in a pile of it.
  10. Yeah my main one did my last 3 albums, first (and some subsequent) Rebellion Festival, first (and some subsequent) overseas tour, plus some special gigs during this time including supporting 3 of my fave bands. I originally bought it with a view to it being just a tool for the job and not bothered if damaged/stolen but that just isn`t the case now.
  11. I had one for a while, nice sounding cabs, not as low-end heavy as the ABM cabs, and nice and easy to move around.
  12. I’ve a 3 EQ, and whilst to play it’s a dream, I just can’t get a sound from it that I’m happy with. This no doubt due to the fact that whenever I play I’m expecting to hear a Precision so anything else just doesn’t work with my feeble brain. But size wise, neck dimensions, everything on a Stingray is the perfect bass for me.
  13. Epiphone guitars are pretty decent, I bought my God-Daughter one of the SG Specials and it was a really nice guitar.
  14. Might be worth contacting Creamery Pickups, see if they can do anything with the originals. If not then I’m sure they’ll be able to put something together for you that is similar to them.
  15. I’m similar Ed, I have my fave black/black/maple 2015 US Standard Precision which has mucho sentimental value so it’s not gigged. As such I have a matching 2013 for gigging, 2014 for flats/in reserve and a Mex as backup/in case of gigs where we fly. Oh and of course I have a matching 2014 US Standard Jazz, well it would look odd without one.
  16. Now that is a great looking old school style rig
  17. Beautiful dark wood ‘board on that
  18. Definitely get the Stuart Adamson vibe, especially with the Yammy SG!
  19. Same here, if hard times hit and need to sell then unless bought new it’s pretty much getting your money back as well. May as well enjoy your investments - and playing a bass much more enjoyable than looking at an online bank account imo.
  20. Great looking trio there Ander
  21. Pretty much the same for me - reggae apart that is. After many years I’ve now realised the gear that I both enjoy playing the most, and which suits my style of playing.
  22. Dunno about coated flats but what about nickel Elixirs? They are nice & warm sounding and they last - I get 9 months to a year from Elixirs.
  23. It’s funny but these valves are a bit Goldilocks & The 3 Bears for me. In the ABM600 it thickens up the sound nicely on my Precision, adding in some nice harmonics but no real drive. On the OriginAL pedal I had to have the drive fully off and the input gain really backed off in order to have anywhere near a regular bass sound that wasn’t Lemmy on Schwarzeneggers steroids.
  24. That’s my thoughts too. I’m a confirmed Precision player but if I were asked to stand in on a gig/recording session for a band outside of my preferred punk/Oi I think I would take along my Jazz.
  25. Bassdirect are the only ones I know who stock Hipshot Xtenders
