  1. Well the 20 replicates the sound of a cable in the chain so if anything I’d expect that the 20L would be the clearer/brighter sounding one. Given you’re now on a passive bass, which are usually not as bright as active ones I don’t think swapping to the 20 from the 20L would be the best move.
  2. As much as I hate to say it Booze & Glory’s cover of Elton Johns I’m Still Standing is pretty rotten.
  3. We played that stage in 2016, didn’t know what to expect as it was an Introducing Stage but were very pleasantly surprised, both with the size of the stage and of the audience, 4:30 on a Friday afternoon and it was packed.
  4. I don’t think I ever saw the careers officer at school, absolutely no recollection of it. At first I wanted to be an interpreter as was fairly good at languages, then a police officer (did my work experience with them), then quickly progressed to having no clues at all, and am still there at 56. Given I hope to retire within 5 or so years I’m running out of time to think of a dream career. And not going to lose any sleep over it.
  5. Bad Moon Rising
  6. I’m yet to use them in a band environment, Kevin. Both rehearsal rooms I use have provided speakers so I’ve been too lazy to take them along. At home volumes they sound just the same as my old ABM410- EVO-IV though.
  7. In my old band I never used my Ashdown ABM600 over about 12 o’clock on volume, and that was when on pretty big stages, admittedly that was for on-stage volume only. Fast forward to my current classic rock band and due to our drummer it’s on about 1 o’clock, and that’s hooked up to an 810 in a rehearsal room. He’s shall we say enthusiastic. But to answer the question that’s when I need the power. Ashdown checked it out for me when I bought it and it peaks at about 3 maybe 4 o’clock so I’m not far from running on full. And if I didn’t have ear-plugs I think I’d be doing serious and permanent damage to my ears.
  8. Do I suspect this is where piehole had its first outing?
  9. 6m is what I use, this from either pedal or amp to bass. The amp to pedal cable being 3m.
  10. Def looks like a decent bit of kit, and a definite contender to the Mono + Tick for a lot less. Whether it’s as good is another question but from the spec it looks really good.
  11. Must admit I’m kind of in the same mindset. Given I never really know what gear I’ll be playing through I prefer to know how my bass reacts to me. I’ve also found that having a set of flats on a bass at home for practice really helps me to be much more precise with my fretting hand.
  12. I had an ABM1000 and it was a very nice amp. Still preferred my ABM600 tho, probably due to the greater eq range but it did seem to have a little something “extra”.
  13. I’ve never been told what instrument to use, but once when recording a track on guitar I did most of it on a Les Paul, adding a few bits on a Strat, and the producer subtly asked why I favoured the Les Paul when I played the Strat better. So we did a good bit of it again on the Strat and guess what, he was right, vastly improved it.
  14. Only dropped once, my preferred format would be being told songs the band were actually going to play……
  15. Certainly nothing wrong with songs in languages other than English, however I do like to know what the lyrics are/are about. I mean, imagine being a non-English speaker, hearing a band you like, buying up their back catalogue, and then someone who does speak English tells you what Skrewdriver are all about.
  16. Love the colour co-ordination on those two Dan
  17. I use a Wenger rucksack for those purposes, plenty of compartments to keep everything in its place. Very hard wearing, waterproof, and reassuringly expensive.
  18. Def don’t want to return to those days.
  19. Looking at the iPro I may well get one, size/weight plus seeing as in most cases I use my Sansamp as my eq makes me think this is a good idea, and will make gigging even easier.
  20. A real tower of power if I ever saw one.
  21. Another train of thought could be Elixirs - coated roundwounds. Due to the coating they don`t have that brittle out of the pack top-end, but they do stay remarkably consistent for a long time - I get around 8 months to a year on my home practice bass. The nickel rounds are even warmer sounding, plus feel nicer to play.
  22. Further to my previous post I’ve utilised Garys skills a few more times recently and in each case great work on a good turnaround time at good prices. Cheers Gary.
  23. Of the Baz/recent years material my fave is Suite XVI, some great tracks on that album.
