  1. 1 Doesn’t speed up 2 Doesn’t slow down 3 Doesn’t do rolls/hit cymbals during the parts of the songs that are the “singalong” parts, as these get in the way of the vocal melodies

    DrumChat

From the chats I’ve had with drummers I’ve been in bands with they’ve just wanted someone who didn’t get in their way of holding the timing down.
  3. An Ashdown ABM 210 will easily be the happy medium between your two previous rigs, providing you`re ok with the weight they`re a good choice.
  4. Did one in a past band, last Monday of the month for 3 months. In other words a night when no-one had any money and even if they did were unlikely to be spending it on a Monday. 3rd Fri in the month isn’t that bad, I’d say yes to that.
  5. Am getting some great sounds from mine at present, tho tried the SVT style setting and it was light years away from any SVT I’ve ever used. Quite like the Bassman style setting tho.
  6. HiMass for me, seems to be tighter & more precise
  7. Still unfortunate though, and a good reminder why remaining vigilant is a necessity
  8. Great news @Franticsmurf, well done
  9. My main bass - now retired to home use only due to sentimental reasons - did probably 150 gigs over a 3 year period, including festivals & overseas tours, plus video shoots. Whilst not precious about it I similarly wasn’t careless with it. Our driver on the tours used to joke that he’d never seen a bass in such good condition, aside from fret-wear it’s still in pretty much new condition. I’m obviously letting the low-slung heavy-pick attack punks down badly.
  10. I`ve got the ones as per the left hand image on the pic. Plenty easy to put in/take out.
  11. I’m in a very loud band due to the drummer and I have the PRO 17s, pretty much all of the frequencies are preserved, just everything is much quieter, to being roughly at home listening volume for your stereo.
  12. Is it definitely the grill that rattles? I ask as I’ve had a couple of cabs which rattled and the problem was the tweeter - even when switched off, part of it rattled on low notes.
  13. Yes the Paradriver is very versatile due to the sweepable mids, I used one as my sound for about 4 years in my last band where I needed a toppy/driven sound and it excelled at this, boosting the upper-mid range really pushed the gain/drive across when digging in. For more "traditional" bass tones I do prefer the BDDV v2, after all it is a bass-specific pedal whereas the Paradriver is more multi-instrument.
  14. I’ve not used mine with the Shape on on my ABM600, will give it a try.
  15. Sadly I`m now unable to attend, work is calling
  16. Nice to see you back, great choice re amp too!
  17. Melkweg is a great venue, I really enjoyed playing there (and a Spinal Tap moment, I got lost in all the corridors backstage)
  18. The coolest of all Jazz basses
  19. They were at a fairly high price before the current political tomfoolery, recall seeing a similar thread about it a couple of months ago.
  20. Impossible to have a thread like this without mentioning Ashdown.
  21. Definitely, I met Bruce Foxton of The Jam when we were on the same show and I was incredibly nervous but he was a really nice guy.
  22. A clip from The Spacewasters most recent gig, Sat 08 Oct, at The Escape Bar, Shepherds Bush. The song is actually called Red Hot.
  23. I’m surprised there isn’t a queue to the end of the road, these get such great write ups
  24. They’re very good basses, easy to change parts on to suit, but no actual need to.
  25. This is a great thread, must have been an awesome situation to have been in.
