1. Thanks for the replies guys! I completely forgot about spare battery's. It happens that the last gig I did, I'm playing with the same drummer and he's always bang on so I'm confident there
2. So tonight (wednesday night) is my first proper gig in just over a year and i an't wait! It'll be my first time gigging with a 5 string and i'll be christening my orange/ashdown rig. I'm not nervous or anything as i used to gig with two bands last year frequently but i'm probably forgetting some gig basics.
3. I've been taking note of my playing much more recently and I've been doing alot more recording (whether just noodling by my self or band work) and it became apparent that my playing was quite boring. It was very surprising how much a difference little things like a bit of vibrato and some grace notes made to my playing and has really opened up some of my bass lines in the band. And I have noticed that not many bassist use these little techniques which my self was guilty of.
4. I'm quite lucky in my band, the guitarist and drummer both appreciate good bass tones and get quite annoyed when the bass is buried under a thick blanket which is quite rare to hear from a guitarist Even goes as far as...'use the jazz on this song, it'll sound great! which again is mental to hear a guitarist say.
5. Daaaaam, I would seriously buy this bass in a heartbeat. Been after a T40 for so long after my school had one stashed away in a cuppboard (one of my first real bass play experiences was on a T40). If this is still here in about a months time (or some money mysteriously falls into my possession), I will be snapping this bass up. Dan
6. I suppose it's about your own instinct and somewhat of a risk! With most dealings on here, i tend to give my number and speak on thephone rather than over PM so perhaps it may be a gopd idea to call the guy or maybe even a chat on skype?
7. I've been in this situation where the studio has sucked the tone right out of my bass and has ended up sounding quite generic (after spending many £ on gear). I've always kept quiet about in whilst in the studio but always moaned alot after the final mix. My band memebers have always told me to say in the studio and I feel like I should have...but I just haven't! Can be a bit awkward telling an engineer 'how to do his job'. Seems some engineers just look past the bass and use it literally as bass of the song, not an important instrument. Or maybe we're too picky?
8.
Was that in Gwdihw in Cardiff? missed it dammit!
Yeah it was!! It was rammed in there! Even had some crowd surfing going...imagine that in the Gwdi Hw ey?
9.
Saw them outside GAK busking in Brighton today. They are playing at the Hydrant tonight but I can't make it.
Yeah that's right! They said they were going to be busking! Taking on the tradition of Rubylux's street gigs! Have you managed to catch any of their street gigs?
10. Just engineered for a great bluegrass band called Water Tower Bucket Boys (http://www.watertowerbucketboys.com/home.html). never had so much fun engineering a gig and I lost my 'see an upright player slap the sh*t out of his bass' virginity and to think I can barely play a note on the things. Anyone care to share some stories about seeing someone slap an upright for the first time? Dan
11. I have another bass to bring....some sort of 70's/80's 'Satellite' jap crap neck through precision which is a fantastic bass! Dan

15. Really nice to hear him refering to 'other' basses for inspiration...makes it sound as if he actually likes the bass that he has helped create...not just a money thing Dan

20. I may have a possible +1 with an Ibanez ATK and a modded Fender Marcus Miller (di marzios + varitone circuit) And I have 2 of the ashdown cabs now Dan
21. Up for sale is my Mark Bass Little Mark 250 bass head. This is a lightweight head weighing less than most laptops but churns out a very impressive (loud) 250 watts at 4 ohms. I've done small gigs to large festival gigs with this head and has been plenty loud for onstage monitoring. The head has never missed a beat in the two years I have owned it. Selling due to jumping on the orange bandwagon and unfortunately, this is no longer used. Not looking for any amp trades as I am happy with my rig. I'm looking for £240 (delivered) o.n.o and I am willing to deliver within a reasonable distance from Cardiff (Bristol etc) or local collection. Cheers, Dan
Sorry Rich, it has to be that weekend for me otherwise I can't go Working weekends is the worst thing about being a Chef, however I will probably have a rather exciting Shuker by the time this rolls around . The plan is..... Im going to contact Dave Dearnley (local guitar/bass set up/repair/build master) about doing some sort of demo, as well as John Caulfield (local teacher) about doing some sort of demo/workshop and Burke Shelley (local bass player off of Budgie) about bringing his lovely P-bass, Travis Bean and himself along for a chat should he be in good enough shape to come down by then. If i even get one bite out of the 3 this should be a lovely day. Also edited my first post for more info on the day so far.
John teaches bass at my university and not long ago bought a wah pedal off me! would be great to get him down! With his lovely sei basses of course Dan
