1. Just found these two makes/sites.... quite interesting stuff.... not sure if they've been mentioned/discussed here before? http://www.tuscanyguitars.com/tuscany_basses.html http://www.exlusiveguitars.com/exlusive_basses.html Not sure why they're all fivers though....
2. I prefer not to give myself a label...
3. I would alo like to point out to those with a 'signature model'-aversion that the things that makes this bass a 'Kip Winger' Futura are the fact that it is of a higher grade wood with a thru-neck and a trussrod cover with his name on it! The trussrod cover can easily be removed should you so wish...
4. Bumping a great bass at a great price (just half the current 'shop price'!)! See here for some 'new' ones. For £700 http://www.bassmerchant.com/item_detail.php?product_id=385 For £849 http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...ofessional.html
5. Beautiful! I love white basses with gold hardware
6. Schecter Model T..... GREAT bass! Fender Duff McKagan (particularly an original mid 80's one) and Aerodyne Jazz are cool too...
7.
Is he influenced by Macca or no? Is he a nob or a bass god? Successful songwriter - do you like his stuff? Did he do the right thing not rejoining the ashes of Queen? You decide!
Nope to Macca influence Bass God - definitely! Yep, very interesting songwriter... Definitely, Queen is kinda embarassing since Freddie passed away...
8.
sorry bud, not a chance - fits me perfectly, definately the easiest bass i've ever had to play live plus the emg p is ace! taken the tone control out of mine and moved the jack socket in its place, also upgraded the wiring. went to see kiss on tour and noticed the j pup is pretty much screwed right down out the way! just curious if the spector necks are similar? or what it might be modelled on. amazing collection btw......... the mrs doesn't agree i need to try and rival it!
No worries, you know where I am if you change your mind Yep, Gene doesn't use the J pickup live so he's lowered it right down, moved the selector switch out and put the jack on the front I also own an original Spector 1976 SB1 bass (the one Gene's original Spector bass was modelled on) and I believe that is the model the Punisher neck was modelled on. Very long, quite slim and VERY playable! The mrs? Bah, don't listen to her.....
9.
Pretty sure you told me before, but is the Impact a short scale bass? Looks awfully small!
No, it's long scale.... it just looks tiny next to those two hulking Jazz basses!
10.
The Hamer, the Rex, and as you have 2 one of the Axe basses please
I have a Rex for sale now mate!
11. Another +1 for UPS through Interparcel. Guitar picked up lunchtime and delivered other end of the country mid afternoon next day with packaging still intact. Nice easy transaction/operation
12.
Interesting...I always thought of Winger as a "players" band who were somewhat underrated. Despite some dire songs, the boys could play!
Yep, Winger were one of the 80's rock bands who were highly respected by musicians. Kip was a classically trained pianist who was no slouch on bass or vicals, Reb Beach was/is respected as one of the finest guitarists of his generation, Paul Taylor is a multi-instrumentalist who has since gone on to MD shows for many famous artists and Rod Morgenstein is also the drummer in the Dixie Dregs! Definitely no slouches...
13. Provisionally sold subject to the usual...
14. I have a friend who's interested and hopefully popping over to see it soon so anyone who is serious should probably act sooner rather than later!
15. No worries, plenty of interest but no definite bites yet (though I have advertised it elsewhere as well....)
16.
Mr Cetera, Mr Cetera! As a man who owns a lot of Spectors, how do you rate the EMG-HZ pickup/SD preamp combo from the lower end Spectors compared to the "proper" EMGs + tonepump combo on the higher end models? Is there much in it?
I've never actually played any of the lower end Spectors but I believe they have a great reputation at their price-point The ReBop I used to have, and my Rex bass both have passive EMG-Hz humbuckers with Tonepump Jr active preamps and I think they sound great - very tight and focussed (not unlike a good Jazz bass). However, given the chance I would upgrade the pickups to full active EMG humbuckers as the tone from these is much fuller and bolder
17.
i'm so pleased i've found you! IS there another bass like the punisher - or even similar? i'm in love with mine for all occasions, but obviously it doesnt look the part in all occasions! cheers bud
I've yet to come across anything similar feel-wise to the Punisher. Though looks-wise the Schecter Devil bass is pretty similar but has humbucking pickups.... http://www.drumza.com/images/SchecterDV4DevilBass.jpg Btw, if you ever want/need to sell your Punisher on... let me know!
18.
If you were stage right you'd have been standing next to me, i was the only one sitting in a chair, on the on-stage side of the barrier. I'm doing sonisphere this weekend if that's any help?!! I missed the yodel / flute rock of Focus at High Voltage though.
Lol! Were you the guy slumped in his (wicker?) chair with a headset on? I thought "check that guy out.... how bored does he look!" I'll be backstage/stage side on Sunday late afternoon/evening for Iron Maiden so may see you there...
19. Great cab! Have a free bump! Have you thought about replacing it with the Genz Benx Neox212T? That'd probably do the job for you...! Loud, great tone, compact and light
20. Thanks Etienne! Your words confirm my own thoughts on this fabulous amp
21.
Cool, i'm working on that. I'm on the Metal hammer stage (not playing..)... It's nice to be on a festival where i'm not up to my knees in mud for a change - however the locals that keep breaking into the site, raiding the busses and nicking or trashing everything in sight aren't that nice.
Balls, I missed you again! I was back & forth to the backstage there all weekend. Watched Down from sidestage too.... NICE Spectors Rex had!
22.
Well.. I dont have the money anyway Unless Cetera would be interested in some trades!
600W not enough for you?!? Crikey... I've never turned up more than half way (with an efficient 4ohm cab) and that was PUSHING it! Trades? No, sorry.... selling only....
