1. I got a Marantz 6004 amp from Richer Sound. Fantastic value. I love the sound.
2. It pretty pathetic eBay did not prevent this to happen after some many of us filled reports...
3. I have filled an online complaint with the Trading Standard Institute. Feel free to fill one. https://www.brand-i.org/report-a-site/
4. It's totally illegal. I am really furious at eBay not caring more about this sort of things. It shows a total lack of support for legit trade. I feel really let down by eBay.
5.
Chrismuzz - I've reported it to eBay twice now. And they seem to have done absolutely nothing about it. Please do report it as well.
I have reported the counterfeit several times to eBay and to MusicMan as well. Nothing from eBay...
6. MarkBass Compressore is the bomb if you don't mind a large pedal and a separate 12V PSU. I love mine! ---------
7. Hi, I bought a little giant from an online store about 2 years ago. I open the box and I found some scratches on the front panel. Specifically, around the button holes. It looked like whoever drilled those holes got a bit carried away and scratched around. That wasn't a good start... I plugged all my gear. No sound. I checked everything from my cable down to the "is there a mute button?" I sent the head back to the online retailer, who confessed their tech guy opened the amp and found some soldering problems he was able to fix. They asked me if I wanted the head re-soldered. I said "No thanks give me my money back please". I totally the the concept of the Little Giant and I was totally excited about owning one. The issue I believe is that Ashdown have been totally let down by quality controls in Asia. The head I received should have never left the factory. I bet yours got some issues that went undetected due to lack of quality controls.
8. Looks like an uncomfortable position to me. Especially for your neck. Time to see an ostheopath !
9.
I find stainless roundwounds are like cheese graters, where nickel ones have a softer feel.
Spot on!
10. What makes Mark King's sound is the piece of tape around his thumb. Nothing to do with skills....
11. Why spend GBP 1,500 on something just to play at home? That is, you won't need an (expensive) earthshaking loud bass system. With that in mind, maybe you should spend more on the preamp, in comparison to the power stage and the big cabs. Also, you may want to do a bit of recording if it's only for home use. What about a boutique-ish/fancy preamp like an Jonas Elborg, a small Markbass combo, and audio-interface for home recording?
12. I have never seen one like this. Very peculiar.
13. I was very lucky to attend a clinic with TM Stevens at London Bass Day. I had a chat with him about "his sound". I commented that for big slap guy I very was surprised not to see a compressor on his pedal board. TM Stevens replied "I AM THE COMPRESSOR, my hand controls the attack". He also showed me his hand, with a big stare. This left me thinking that my search for effects was possibly due to my inability to produce nice sounds with my hands. I've recently sold most of my effects on this forum. Today, I only allow myself two pedals (1) a compressor for slap (please don't tell TM Stevens!) and (2) an autowah. I spend a lot of my time experimenting with my right hand technique to find different sounds. I find this hugely rewarding, the same sort of fun I got from tweaking pedal knobs. We all play bass to make sounds. The sounds we have in our heads can be the result of x and y effects, hand technique, or both. I am following a more organic approach these days, using my hands and I love it. And, yes, I will buy some pedals in the future... but not now.
14. Buy neutrik connectors, some quality cables and make your own cables. http://www.thomann.de/gb/neutrik_np2c.htm http://www.thomann.de/gb/neutrik_np2_rx.htm LOTS of fun, and cheap !
15. Top bloke from the Netherlands. I sold my JoeMeek compressor to Dunk and it was super smooth (my first transaction outside the UK). Highly recommended.
16. I'd like to add that we tend to be real drummer-lovers. And, we desperately need drums in general to exercise our craft. But oh god!!! I am fed up with prima-donna drummers. I find it really hard to find a good drummer, who's also a good chap.
17. I own this bass model in red (built in 2000). I have added a BadAss III and a John East preamp. IT TOTALLY ROCKS !!!!!!!!
18.
I got shot of mine. I found it lacked power for the stated output. Didn't like the eq, not enough deep bass and very mid honky. Replaced it with shuttle 9, and also have a streamliner 900, which I prefer. Having said that, I was happy with my iampP800 for quite a few years.
The head gives, in my opinion, a perfect reproduction of my bass tone... Maybe your bass tone is honky to start with ...
19.
Done. CB
The bass is still listed... I've also dropped them a note.
20. After the sanding is done, try boiled linseed oil in small quantity.
21. What about contacting eBay about the counterfeit?
22. Stefan Redtenbacher Funkestra / Hausmusik is pure funk madness.
23. I got a John East preamp for my Jazz Bass and it was super easy to install. Actually, it was the easiest thing I ever installed.
