  1. Thanks all for input. I've clarified that the you can freeze on the Oceans 11 itself (without an external pedal) and I like the sounds of the Shimmer too as I recognise @radiophonic's points about the tone on the HoF2. Still open to suggestions though so keep them coming. Will report back when I get round to sourcing one...
  2. @mattbass6 Just think how much better this bass will make you! With this Excalibur, you'll realise your full potential that previous puny instruments have held back from you... Or another way of looking at it is, Jaco did all his stuff on a $90 second-hand Jazz bass. Paul McCartney played a Hofner which has the playability of potato and doesn't even stay in tune much past the seventh fret. Also a starting price of 2.5 kilo-pounds is pretty steep for an off-shore build. Full disclosure - I'll want one too when they do a six - coming soon apparently.
  3. Good luck. Heard good things about these basses...
  4. Crikey that's a looker! Just like mine 😁
  5. Can't wait. The Manchester shows were great. Last one I attended I saw Billy Sheehan, Victor Bailey (RIP) and tried beautiful basses from Shuker (Dan Veil's 7-string monster) and Goodfellow. Well done all involved...
  6. You'd be mad to move a Fodera or Pedulla anywhere but BC... And if you own such a bass, I don't believe you wouldn't be aware of this...
  7. Thanks MrTea, Loved your work with Hannibal and the team. Yes this looks good. I've since found the ElectroHarmonics Oceans 11 does both too but you need and external footswitch to freeze. Will investigate further. Visog
  8. Great video... the clean sounds work best for me. Seems to be a running theme of preamps like this that have a frankly nasty (not in a good way) fuzz.
  9. Is there such a beast? Pedal me a solution...
  10. Yes, don't disagree - a bit like Foderas in that regard but I think this BD 'bic is from new. So if and when the purchaser of this bass decides to move it on, I don't see it holding its value - at least in the short-term. Five much better 'bic deals here (@ the time of posting): https://thebassgallery.com/collections/bass
  11. The first double-neck Warwick (only?) I ever saw was at the Bass Centre thirty-odd years ago. I think it was ex-Colin Hodgkinson and so obviously left-handed. And maybe it was a Wal. Hmm, no fairly sure it was a Warwick.
  12. Doesn't stack for me. Needed a set-up on arrival? If it wasn't right for you say so... but you could have returned it under the 'no quibble' policy. What gives?
  13. Well it's gone! http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Alembic_basses.html £27k in the end... Don't know who to? That's over £6k a string!
  14. Some hardcore GB porn... EBS_Freak - you referenced a through-neck Spitfire so here we go with a cross-over to Jon Shuker who set-it up with the strings underneath the frets as John Entwistle would have it. (I would have gone to Bernie of course but I'm 300 miles from him and it's just over the Derbyshire hills to Jon.)
  15. Hmm... potentially a good a deal but... what's the provenance? Is it structurally sound? Proceed with caution.
  16. I love these basses. Yamaha stuff is built like tanks! Bump.

Well it looks a nice job... Was expecting some headstock awfulness but I can't tell that it didn't leave Conklin like this...
  18. Agree with a some of the previous posters... But to answer the OP, here we go: Yes - Close to the Edge Kate Bush - Hounds of Love Rush - Moving Pictures Bjork - Vespertine Return to Forever - Hymn of the Seventh Galaxy Joni Mitchell - Hejira Beatles - Sgt.Pepper's Allan Holdsworth - Sand King Crimson - Red Mike Oldfield - Ommadawn Pat Metheny - Imaginary Day … and that's my list.
  19. Squire musical archivist miguelbass has a four part video series on Chris' 8-strings but here's the Ranney episode - brilliant research from Miguel:
  20. I think he's going for a 'jazz box' sound but in a bass...
  21. Chatters, Anyone know anything about this gorgeous instrument JP is sporting at about 47s into this video? Did he happen to have one at the LBGS? Looks like an update to the curvier hollow body he was seen with about three or four years ago?
