  1. Never been a fan of green (seafoam apart) but this is gorgeous! I hadnt played a Lakland until this week - I'm massively impressed with the quality - great attention to detail, great tone and playability
  2. Ahh...detail and function (and aesthetics) - me too mr zed - an obsession! This thread has got me wanting a sunburst J with a J Retro and Fender knobs
  3. Mr Zed, thanks - good to see such a constructive and helpful post. I too dislike the look of the J Retro knobs and the solution detailed (and very well photographed) is an excellent one
  4. Very lovely bass Karl - an excellent price too for such premium quality - the claro top is stunning. Alembics don't do it for everybody but the quality of craft skill that goes into these is second to none. A serious bargain for somebody - get a bit of flitz on the brass and it'll come up like new too.
  5. I finally got around to weighing my DB750 at the weekend - a little over 54lbs in its 3 space aguilar rack bag. I'm pretty sure that that bag weighs around 7lbs so the amp is around 47-48lbs. Lighter than I'd have thought but very much heavier than the quoted weight of 43lbs.
  6. +1 - fantastic amps - the pre in these is worth the asking price alone - channel strip transparency and shaping. Brilliant for doublers or two bass situations. Quality of conception, build and components is superb - the pinnacle of Epi for me
  7. Beautiful and an utter bargain - can't really lose on this!
  8. Wow, stunning condition - always wanted one of these
  9. Again, thanks for the responses - I'm now fully convinced - just haven't had time to get around to purchase. More soon!
  10. I can see why any DB750 owners might consider a sale - I carried mine around a little last week and it's monstrously heavy, especially given the reasonably compact form factor. Getting it up stairs for a gig/storage is really no fun. I'm going to weigh it later - I'm sure the specced weight of 43lbs is way off. So, a major downside...however, then you plug it in and all makes sense
  11. Very lovely and a great price - I actually prefer these to the customs - I used to have the chance to play loads when the dealership was in Manchester, the neck profile (quite a pronounced V from memory) suited me perfectly
  12. very nice and great price - some of the hardware alone on this has to be worth a few quid
  13. Just received some strings from Matt - perfectly packed, super-rapid delivery and great communications throughout. Highly recommended and a credit to the community
  14. A legend and a very beautiful one - the best modern Js around in my opinion
  15. This is absolutely stunning - I've had too many failed stabs at fretless for this to have any realistic interest, however, a beautiful instrument (with some extremely desirable features) at a great price
  16. truly a bass of great beauty! Great decision re: the P too Clarky
  17. Hi, I'll take the D'Addario 40-90s please! I'll PM now, cheers, loz
  18. Honestly didn't think this would last for 12 hours on here... Beautiful and extremely desirable at a fabulous price (I can't play fives or long-scale, otherwise it wouldn't have lasted 12 hours)
  19. Hi all and thanks very much for the inputs - it appears that a capo works! I'll get out and find one (thanks too for the recommendations) and report back on the results. Cheers, Loz
  20. Just a quick update, this cover is now gone (I should have updated this a couple of years ago)
  21. Skandelvar, thanks - Shubb is a brand I've heard of - I'll check them out
  22. Maybe an odd question but does anybody use or know of a capo that is designed for or will function on 4 and 5 string bass? I'm moving to short-scale playing entirely but have some long-scale basses that I don't want to sell (and would like to continue to use). I'm not sure if a capo is feasible or a solution. The idea would be to tune down a full step (DGCF) then apply the capo at the 2nd fret. Any experience/ideas gratefully received.
