1. Bargain. Some of the finest Js around - ACs are my favourite of the super-Js by some distance

Wow, my dedication to short-scale is wobbling! Supersize the images on the Sadowsky site to see the burl...it's worth it
3. I remember the story behind this one - beautiful job from Kevin and my favourite colour. Gorgeous bass, good luck!
4. I'd try TI Jazz Rounds - very light and compliant. Beautifully made and feel wonderful bit not cheap. Available from the US for around $100 http://www.bassstringsonline.com/Thomastik-Infeld-T-I-JAZZ-Round-Wound--6-String-Set_p_243.html
5.
lovely!
+1 - absolutely gorgeous!
6. Wow, more beautiful than I thought - that is just stunning!
7. An outstanding bit of kit - I'd certainly have another - two or three of the tone-bank selections are superb for bass
8. Couldn't resist a look...absolutely gorgeous! Still my favourite ever body shape. Fantastic bass, fantastic price!
9. Great to see the arrival of two more Alembics - SimonEdward, any chance of a full body shot of the MK (I can imagine the top is gorgeous!)? Bass-Driver - a beautiful example. I've just sold an essence as I'm moving to short-scale, however, it was a supremely playable bass with a fantastic core tone (and highly versatile range of tones)
10. Used to have a ul112 - excellent cabs. It might be worth letting interested parties know where you're based (unless I've missed something)
11. Wiping a nostalgic tear here - heard my VS on a few recordings recently - wondrous (to be honest, every bit as good as the vastly overpriced/undersized gear I use now). If I could get a VS plus this cab...(and a van and a warehouse and two roadies)...
12. Just fantastic - brilliantly functional museum piece at a rock-bottom price...if I had a warehouse and a van...
13. Immensely impressive cabs (among my favourites) - I too prefer these to the Berg AEs. Very tight with great bottom-end
14. Immensely impressive cabs (among my favourites) - I too prefer these to the Berg AEs. Very tight with great bottom-end
15. Met Steve last night for handover of a very impressive pre - enjoyed a coffee and a good chat (great chance to catch-up). Steve is a pillar of our community with a high-end gear horde to induce GAS in any bass-player. Deal in complete confidence - an excellent seller/buyer - entirely honest and decent
16. AER Amp One could fit the bill - small, compact and reasonably powerful with a 10" driver. Very expensive and not light (32lbs) but extremely high quality with all the OP's requirements. Pro gear - lovely compressor and tight tone with staggering bottom end - I couldn't understand where the bass was coming from on the initial encounter. Not many around but worth consideration.
17.
Loz this bass is stunning, if it wasn't for the wedding; it'd be here next to me. We need that pint soon mate x
Andy - thanks - I'll shoot in this week, apologies for the silence, work's been crazy. More interest in this bass this weekend but a quick bump to keep the Alembic current
18. Had it on a couple of basses - not worth worrying about at all in my experience
19. Banana custard, TV logo, B neck, fantastic price - just fabulous - I have to be strong...
20. I'm not a fan of F basses at all. However, this is absolutely gorgeous - the quality of timbers and craftwork appear to be stunning!
21.
Can't believe this is still here, would love it myself if my arms weren't so short !
sgh - thanks for this (haha - it's not 'that' long). I've just checked on the Alembic site and the base price for an Essence is currently $7500 (though a 30% discount through a dealer would bring this down considerably of course). The custom options on the sale bass would add around $1250 (500 for the blue gloss transparent finish and 750 for the chromed brass hardware). I'm considering taking this bass in to have a few sharp fret ends taken down this weekend - for those for whom such sharp ends might be a concern, Alembic's comments and advice appear here: http://alembic.com/club/messages/16271/17223.html?1110831905
22. Stunning - I can just imagine how good this is. For anybody that hasn't had the pleasure, Celinder (probably) builds the finest updated Fender clones around
23.
Nice bass, great price! Its weight? Is it neck heavy? Nose dive-ish?
Thanks for this - it is a lovely bass (and I think it's a bit of a bargain at this price1) It's a very light bass - and designed to be the lightest of the Alembic range (as far as I know). I don't have a scale available but I'd say 8.5 to 9lbs. It doesn't suffer from neck dive (but I use a Comfort Strapp - they're pretty sticky) - again, I think the Essence is designed to balance well with a relatively long top horn that reaches to around the 15th fret. The head itself is relatively light (unlike the more traditional crown headstock). The bass feels fairly 'long' on a strap - I think this is a function of the positioning of the string retainer and bridge. However, the neck is very slender and comfortable
