Looking for recomendations on the best replacement tuners for a Yamaha bb1100s. Just after getting the Preamp fixed the G tuner has snapped (a bit like me after several decades of use it's starting to show it's ware) Ideal scenario is a NOS or original one, however I'm tempted to put some new ones on. Any recommendations for the best retro fit ideally without extra drilling! Thanks

Soundproofed basement is nearest the truth - we have a little stone barn with 2' thick walls that we use for practice. But we're moving next year and we're planning some sort of combined lounge-come-practice-room so we'll have to see what sort of house we find.

When I ordered my 3x10 in May 2024, lead time was stated at 6 to 8 weeks, and it took 8 weeks. I'm waiting on another 1x10 at the moment, and lead time has been stated at 6 to 12 weeks. I don't know if it's the move to new premises, or just increased demand which is affecting lead times. I'm sure Scott Devine and Ian Martin Allison have had a lot to do with the increased exposure and interest for Barefaced too. Rob

Just to add, that my initial few months of lessons were spent undoing bad techniques and habits. I am currently frustrated by how unmusical I am on the piano. So, if you take piano lessons, do not be surprised to feel that you are going backwards, in terms of skills and ability to play. However, I am now at the stage of being able to improvise stuff without thinking about it. That's because the lessons have given me the necessary technique.

Hi, someone had measured this wide range with a multimeter? what is the DC resistance? Original 70's ones were around 23-27k ohms

It seems to be a design feature across a few of their designs, even on the premium lines... doesn't do it for me but so it goes.

A shop in Chichester currently has one of his Rik-a-like basses. Looks normal but for 6 controls instead of 4.

I don't quite know why they didn't as it looks unfinished to my eyes. I think if I had one, I would have to do something with it.

The lines work for me but agree it would look 10x better if they finished the natural bit at the end of the neck.

Hi - I'm not far away from you - what is the power rating, and I am guessing the impedence is 8 Ohm? Could you post a picture of the back panel as well?

I would have been all over this but sadly its lined with the lines on the top of the neck. If it was unlined then I would have one for sure as they look pretty (apart from the wood at the end of the neck), sounds good and I love Ibanez basses.

I busked between the ages of 16 and about 20, earning loads more than many of my friends working in shops etc. We actually used it as much for practicing as a band as well so figured better to get paid to practice than not! For me it was perhaps the only time in my life where being a musician made economic sense. It's been almost thirty years since I last did this, but I suspect with the decline of cash it may have become less lucrative.

2.4 has a better range and is slightly less worse in poor line of sight transmission situations. However it has to compete for bandwidth with far more devices especially at crowded gigs, which at the moment makes it far less reliable than 5.8. However that advantage may disappear in the future. IME if you are going to be suffering from range issues with a 5.8 device you probably need to be looking at seriously pro wireless systems and not ones based on WiFi.
