  1. Past hour
  2. Selling my cream Avantone Active Mixcube studio monitor. It’s in great condition, hardly used and has only been in my smoke-free home studio. Works perfectly. These are perfect for checking your work to see how things translate to real-life consumer devices. Also helpful for spotting issues in the mix or production earlier. Great tools overall! Includes: Original box Power cable Only selling because I’m changing my setup. Shipping: Free postage – I’ll pack it properly in the original box and send it quickly. Collection is also totally fine if you're local.
  3. Cheers for that! I've messaged Binky...
  4. Well - there goes my weekend plans! I was going to swing by Jimmy's and try it 😂
  5. I spotted the post that the OP is referring to and found the local sale by googling (I was bored, OK!) My take is that this is like finding something undervalued at a car boot sale and subsequently selling for the market price - and it will only sell on BC if the price is right. My real gripe is that in 17 years on BC I have only ever sold at a loss, which says a lot about me!
  6. Some lovely Bass work on this Lalo Schifrin TRACK:
  7. You told me that before, Bagman. I am eager to see it 😃
  8. I didn't know this topic existed, so I'll post one of my old videos - everybody has to do a Dean Town at some point... 😄 This was back before logic was splitting stems - I actually bought them on Bandcamp. Clever guys, the Wulfs.
  9. There used to be a website called 'phat fingers' (or something) where you could punch in (for instance) 'Squier' and it would search eBay for near misses, like Squire, Squeer etc. Right, I'm off to search for a Febner Jizz Base.
  10. Well I'm in, it seems interesting enough for a punt. I flirt with short scale every now & then, I got a forest green (drab green) one from Jimmy Egypt, they promise a set up before delivery which should be tomorrow. I'll give it a try for Saturday's gig and let you know my thoughts
  11. I live about an hour outside London, so there's stuff there, but even so, when I found out a local guitar place in swindon was closing, I was sad about it: In terms of bass-centric places, when the bass cellar closed in Tin Pan Alley, I was really sad about that: magical little place, I've bought 2 Warwicks there over the decades. I've been toying with popping up to bass direct, I've been to the bass gallery. Relating back to the OP, central London wouldn't be local from here: it's a very similar kind of trip to the 100km you're describing, so I tend to visit if I'm in London for some other reason, although... I do have some holiday days to take... 😄
  12. Yeah, that makes total sense, I hadn't really considered the string spacing. It's a bit of a rabbit hole really. The difficulty for me is that where I live there aren't any music shops that have 6 string basses, so have to go largely by advice from fellow bass players and you tube videos.
  13. @LeftyJ Thanks. I took the tent idea a bit far with MK 2 🤣 I was in rented digs, thinking was to contain any dust within the spare room.
  14. That’s really bad. My view is if you’ve added value, you deserve the premium. (This includes owning something for years, like the Stingray I bought here for £600 and sold for £850 10 years later). I think we all remember the guy who picked up 2 Epiphone basses here for £75 each then advertised them the next day for £350 each.
  15. This is a moral question which applies to any asset someone buys, then sells. They're buying with the express motive of making a little money. That's what some people find offensive - now, that's the interesting thing to dig into. Personally, I think any transaction is atomic - it's what happened, right there, right then. The seller agreed to sell. The fact they might find out they could have sold it for more when they see it listed and sell for more is actually irrelevant - and feeling aggrieved on their part as a third party seems pointless. We know some platforms will get more - basschat, reverb - and some less - (maybe) eBay (depending on who listed it - again, the person listing it has listed it at whatever for their own reasons!), Facebook, etc. People sell stuff for varying reasons - could be a distressed sale (can't make the rent, bills to pay, etc). All those are valid reasons why someone gets a bargain. That they decide to flip it, is entirely their business - they bought the bass, it's theirs to do with as they will. What makes more sense is to educate. Give people the confidence to research what a bass is worth - even if it's as trivial as knowing how to filter on eBay for sold items (I always do this before I sell anything) - you can get ideas of what you should be paying for something (or indeed, selling it for). Caveat.... everything, I guess! I know it sounds terribly dispassionate, detached, etc - but you're not going to alter the sociopaths by pointing at them and saying "but it's wrong" - better to starve them of their exploitable population. Which goes for a lot of stuff outside buying and selling at the moment.
  16. Would consider trade against a Jad Freer Capo but really I could do with the cash.
  17. Some people are really bad at listing on those sites making them not return in the search results. I’ve seen plenty of “base guitars”, “squire guitar”, “fender twine”, “less pal” etc. Dealers are very hot on this and have all kinds of weird search strings to find the true bargains.
  18. As I've owned so many sixers which are my go-to basses, I can maybe help you find the bass you really want/like just as @binky_bass can too. He is on the fretted side when I'm on the fretless side. It's up to you @DiceSociety 😉
  19. You're selling basses through fbook? You're braver than I thought. Surely you just get a constant stream of DMs and comments which make no sense, all in caps with no punctuation, and endless halfwit tyre kickers asking if you'll take £10?
  20. I sold a rare bass on here for under the market price as I no longer had a use for it. It's what I do because I hate stuff hanging around when I no longer use it. Saw it for sale on another resale site - might have been Reverb - for around twice what I sold it for. Fair play. But using my pictures? Not so much.
  21. Here we have a boxed, hardly used set of schaller M4-90 light tuners / machine heads. 4 in line, Right handed. Box is marked from storage but everything’s there. I’ll consider a deal if you want to also purchase the matching 3D-4 roller bridge I have listed separately here: Currently £79 but out of stock on Thomann. P&P will be around £5 on top. Cheers!
