  5. According to my Vernier it's 44.4mm.
  6. US $700/780 for 4/5. If there was a 6 in sparkly pink, I might be tempted.
  7. Hi, everyone. Just a quick intro … not surprisingly, I play bass, and also happen to live in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. I spend my days managing an analytic unit in the provincial Ministry of Health, but on the weekends my bass-playing doppelgänger comes out. Kingston is a very fertile music environment, so there’s no shortage of people to play with. I’m in three bands, and sub occasionally when someone needs someone to fake their way through a few songs. and yes, I have too many toys. On the bass front, I’m covered with a Lakland DJ 5, a Sire V3 and a Stambaugh fretless. I have a GK mb210 combo + Neo cab that annoys me no end, so I’m entering an amplification existential crisis. Happy to be here.

  9. What price are you seeing? According to Andertons, they'll be £999 here in the UK. Honestly, SBMM can just eff off with their UK/EU price hikes.
  10. Far out, I never thought this would happen. I've owned a heap of Bongos and they're so good. Render me intrigued.
  11. Used the ABM today with great results. Maxed the input and valve (which wasn't too much overdrive with the bass used and that cab). I did notice the needle moving more so all seems well. Very pleased with that head. Tried it with the comp and without. with those settings not real volume changes at all. Just wish I had bought one years ago. Have to admit I'm thinking of a Little Stubby as another option. But need to stop thinking about it! One thing leads to another.

  15. Appreciate you sharing. I’ve watched loads of videos and guides and the boss pedals. It just made my head short circuit. It’s going to be one of the dittos. So in many ways your observation on boss is what I saw. I like less options please lol. The reasons you like loopers is the exact reason I want one. I’ve not come across a looper with a headphone out. I’m looking at the ditto+, ditto x2 (for the two buttons) and ditto stereo.
  16. *PRICE INCLUDES UK POSTAGE * Wicked pedal! Tracks beautifully. Only selling as I’m now using multi-effect unit. In great condition (I may even have original box…can’t find at the moment m). Does an octave below and/or above. Also has an independent boost effect. Blurb here: Octavius tri-tone generator has 4 controls LO OCT, HIGH OCT, MASTER MIX and BOOST. LO OCT knob lets you set the volume of the lower octave signal produced by the pedal. HIGH OCT knob controls the volume of the higher octave signal produced by the pedal. The balance between the levels of these 2 knobs is what creates your particular octave-divided sound. Experiment with your mix, and you’ll be amazed at the variety of effects you’ll get. MASTER MIX knob lets you set the overall volume of your low and high octaves compared to your direct signal. Use the BOOST knob to control the output of your octave-divided sound. The boost function lets you dial in a solo level, whether the overdrive circuit is activated or not.
  17. Re Cranes of Cardiff - I miss them too. Cardiff seemed to have a lot of guitar or music related shops in the past. But there is a hidden gem, right near the centre..... Former deputy manager of Cranes, and manager of Cardiff PMT, Mike runs a great 2nd hand guitar & motorbike shop "Motomusic" check them out. (A seemingly strange mix, I know- but I've met people from the world of motorbikes who also think he's a true gent). Mike is an absolute gent, and pleasure to deal with, and they often get really nice rarities popping up. Another positive story, is the rise of A-strings music, just north of Cardiff. They are currently expanding their shop, and moving to a much larger premises in Treforest industrial estate. Fingers crossed, and all the best to them. 18. I recall Sound Centre. I almost bought a Westbury guitar from them around 1980 / 81... and with that, I would have become lead guitarist in a band.... lucky escape? Maybe 😉 They had an Aria? Semi acoustic - which I tried out ar the time, which sported the rather "different" finish of the Welsh flag. This was a bit of a one-off at the time, and I believe the very same guitar was purchased by James Dean Bradfield. Wonder what happened to him? If I'd bought it of course the only relevant word would have been "obscurity" 😀
  19. Yes, another Cardiff guitar / instrument shop gone. I recall them being in Llanishen and Roath. Didn't go there too often when they moved to Whichurch, but bought a bass there, and took an amp for repair. Also introduced a pal to the shop, and he bought an expensive Spanish guitar there. A few leads, strings and a tuner also bought from there. I'd much prefer to buy such things from an actual shop, rather than online.... but that option is disappearing. Also, re Grimwades and similar establishments, the chance to try & buy 2nd hand is vanishing, along with the option of trading in. Support your local guitar shop / 2nd hand emporium folks.

  22. I’ve been insuring my cars for business use (as a musician) for around 40 years. When I first started out doing this it was a lot harder to find cover than it is now, for me anyway. I used the AA for a few years and then they stopped covering me, and later whilst a member I used the MU insurance. More recently I’ve tended to go with the best price from companies I’ve heard of, via comparison websites. They want to know all the details like what type of music you play and where etc, along with the usual stuff like mileage and ratio of business / personal use. I stick with the same company until their renewal price starts taking the p*ss and then look around for a better deal.
  23. It's a very clean sounding bass. Very light. Very fast for slappage, and pretty punchy. There's not much to like. At this money the colours really don't matter. It's a great playing and sounding bass for significantly less money than a Fender Player II.
  24. Any chance you'd be open to a trade for a Fender Coronado II...?
  25. I believe he was teasing about the typo… “cangle”
  26. Hi Dave, the music shop under Centre Point was Baldwin, the piano company who bought Burns. I played my first bass though an amp in that shop, a Rickenbacker 4003, probably through a Burns combo. They had glass cubicles where you could sit and play the instruments.
