  2. I wouldn't be able to do the late April dates but any other would be good. No gigs for next year booked so far so I could make myself unavailable if a date for this was decided on. Really enjoyed last years bash and would love to attend another!
  3. I’ve always found Roxy Music albums to be a treasure trove of low end delights, but the first two records are probably my favourites. Graham Simpson on the debut record, and John Porter on the For Your Pleasure follow up, are wonderful players, and add so much to the albums…
  4. That’s a perfect statue of bass perfection right there. I don’t need it, can’t afford it - but I admire it. All the best with the dog project

  6. ‘Live! In The Air Age’ is a great shout. Charlie Tumahai is fabulous on that record. The bass is also quite prominent in the mix, so tracks like Shine (which was included as part of the additional EP) really showcase his talent. Funky double stops ahoy! John McKenzie, in his time with Steve Hillage, puts me in mind of Charlie Tumahai.
  7. Isn't this what "holding down the low end" means?
  8. One of my favourite Primal Scream Mani tracks is Exterminator, a filthy train of thought groove full of feels and swagger that is the man himself personified: Also, a shout out for one of the lesser championed Roses songs, How Do You Sleep. Mani's bass on this one always makes me smile. So fluid, so freakin cool!: X
  9. I’d imagine it would translate quite well. I can hear a difference running just my amp versus running my pedal board into my amp. Same way my amp Di is adequate- I never use it but had to recently as my tube pre amp wasn’t giving any sound (turned out it was a simple fix but the amp DI did the job in a pinch). Did it sound ok for the gig yes but it’s wasn’t as enjoyable a sound. I could defo he’s the difference in my IEM’s This same question gets asked a lot on forums and there’s been some great demos showing how a pedal can sound like another pedal but I believe Origin are going for more of an experience in both feel and tone. It might not be important to folk for a pedal to feel like an amp if it’s nearly £500 but it’s exciting that we have a recreation of a classic amp that folks are describing as nailing the tone and feel. Does a 5k bass vintage bass sound better than a £400 bass? Does it feel better to play versus the £400 bass? Not everyone cares for these things but it’s nice when we can feel and hear a difference and that can push something form desirable to must have fall in love at the first play. If a £99 pedal can do 80% great but some players live for the last 20% because that’s where the inspiration lives.

Made in USA, June 2009 Walnut body Buckeye burl top Ebony fingerboard Ebony pickup covers Ebony ramp Maple neck Di Marzio custom pickups Bartolini 3-band preamp (18 volts) Hipshot hardware Zero fret/24 frets 35-inch scale length Excellent overall condition Mono gig bag, seen better days but still functional. Open to a partial trade for a 4, 5, or 6-string fretless or a 4-string fretted guitar to get back into slap bass. Dane Alderson with his Aryel Deluxe 5: youtu.be/EgUeQYpiHgI Reason for selling: I have another 6-string bass whose simpler electronics suit me better (balance/tone and that's it).

  11. Keith McMillen KMI 12 Step and MIDI Expander This is the original KMI 12 Step Controller. It can be used as a set of bass pedals, to trigger chords, samples or even drum sounds. I’ve used it with a variety of synth modules for adding strings and organ for live gigs. I’m now playing more keyboards live so I’ve gone back to my Hammond bass pedals. There is software online to hook it up to a computer or iPad but I’ve always used it with hardware and it has done the job really well. I’ve colour coded the ins and outs with tape but can remove if required I’ve also taped the note names on the unit as I found it easier to see live. I used masking tape so it’s easy to remove without much residue to clean. KMI has now been rebranded as Muse Kinetics since Keith McMillen sadly died last year. Support is still available for all the KMI branded versions of their products. It’s really small and neat compared to a traditional bass pedal controller and weighs next to nothing. The unit itself is slim and made from woven carbon fibre. I have the original (tatty) packaging for both the pedals and the expander. I’ve included a link so you can see what it does. The Mark 2 version retails at around £435 street. The included MIDI expander was bought separately for £65 as I wanted to integrate it with my outboard hardware rather than use it with my computer. Postage at buyer’s cost UK only. No trades.
  12. I’m up against mr travis and his all-consuming GEAR maw no chance, I see that bass being dragged to a Manchester address, probably leaving scratch marks on the pavement as it is sucked in like some poor dachshund caught in a wizard of Oz style tornado Briefly. 😛 I Wish I could buy this. GLWTS
  13. Pretty much done (yeah, right). I had to modify my pedalboard yet again, this time by adding an external effects loop to accommodate the wah.
  14. Oh my gosh. What a wonderful sight to behold. A large amount of Orange goodness. If you DM me the dog stuff I'd be happy to make a donation, sadly not £2,400. Rob
  15. What a rig! I’ve got an ad200, so this is just a bump, particularly just to say that that Spector is blooomin gorgeous!!
  16. Yes that line is all Mani 👌
  17. anybody interested in a jones i have just put mine up for sale on here

  19. ***PRICE DROP NOW £1300*** 2010 US Stingray, 2EQ, CAR with rosewood board. One of the limited edition 133 basses, full fat ‘ray but with a soft gig bag case instead of a hard shell job. This is in excellent condition with one very minor ding on the top edge, and the pickguard is quite marked but obviously easily replaceable. Comes with a Hipshot D-tuner (long key though instead of short… doh), if you want the original tuner key I’ll chuck it in. I’ve also replaced the pickup with a Nordstrand MM4.2, which sounds flippin’ great. She’s quite heavy (10lb) but with a decent wide strap it feels ok. ***EDIT*** now comes with the option of a Warwick Rockbass semi-rigid case - photos added. Loathe to post this but can at buyer’s (insured) expense, or can meet in person at either Portsmouth, Southsea, Southampton or Lymington (I’m on the I.O.W.)

  20. I'm still really tempted by this.
  21. All done! Gave the corners a final paint early this morning so I could fit them this afternoon, drilled out the speaker mounting holes, re-dyed the baffle, fitted more wadding inside so that more or less all internal surfaces are covered, cleaned the jack sockets and replaced the wiring, mounted the speaker, and put the grill back on. Finished. I've given it a blast as loud as I dare at home, and the house was rattling. It does sound better than it did, in fact it sounds bloody marvelous with the Bassman. Perhaps it's just me making sure everything was tight and secure, extra internal wadding and the speaker mounted properly, but it's tighter sounding, no rattles and no flub. My intention was to create a recording setup, but I think I could gig this rig! Very happy with this! Cheers, Rob
  22. Fish, 'Vigil In A Wilderness Of Mirrors'. Gorgeous fretless bass by the utterly awesome and much missed John Giblin. The mid/solo section of this track is an absolute highlight.
  23. Bought on a whim, im really not a pedal man. When i have too many knobs to twiddle i spend more time messing than playing. Can send in UK if i can get some packing stuff together. Great working condition and the RPD (ric, precision, drive) labels will pull straight off
  24. I know. But the effective cone diameter of a speaker is roughly 1 ½" to 2" less than the overall diameter - measure diameter across the midline of the suspension roll. 1 ½" off four 5" speakers is a lot more, proportionally than 2" off a 10" speaker. You'd need more than five such smaller speakers to equal the larger one.
