Only 2 according to your profile. Welcome aboard. Post a Hello/ Hi on the introductions forum, and reply to a few threads. Just join in generally. Then all of a sudden you'll have thousands of posts of random rubbish and no friends in real life other than those you meet at bass bashes. And if you stray into the Marketplace then you'll also have no money and a reputation for meeting strange men and women in supermarket car parks up and down the country. Don't ask how I know... 😅

Potentially, I'm lucky enough to have a few from both sides of this particular fence. I have a few ACGs Alan made for me and of course Binky the 10 string Bee Bass. I also have some I've bought well under their market value that I doubt I'll ever sell and some I've bought for about their market value as I wanted to try it but also didn't want to buy new and loose a chuck after the initial purchase. 'Orses for Courses as they say!

Had a similar experience with PMT in Cardiff. Some of the staff had been extremely helpful over the years though. Must be quite soul destroying working in a music shop sometimes. Really feel for them and its sad that only one music shop in the centre of cardiff now. Heard good things about Moto music on the outskirts but all a bit too high end for the likes of me. A strings in Treforest are absolutely fantastic. Looking forward to seeing their new shop also. I dont think I would deal with any other shops these days. Generally they are really competitive with their pricing but they also quality check over the instruments and set them up so for that Im willing to pay extra anyway. Really nice staff as well.

Absolutely 100%. A few years ago, I bought a bass on BC that I then realised had a bowed neck after I tried to (unsuccessfully) lower the action to my liking. The seller not only refused to take it back but completely denied there was anything wrong with it because they'd just had it set up. Which either makes his luthier inexperienced/incompetent or the seller an out-and-out liar. It's only when things go wrong that you find out people's true character. My luthier managed to straighten it with heating and clamping, but I then couldn't stand the sight of it so sold it on eBay. Obviously, detailing the problem and remedial action. Lost a lot of money on it and made me very wary of buying basses here. So huge kudos to @reggieboomboom, you're one of the good ones.

I used to commute to Birmingham, each spring I had this odd experience where my eyes would water as I was driving down the M42 for a month or so. After several years I eventually realised it was hay-fever... or more likely tree pollen. I still get a bit of it but the odd thing is if I take a single antihistamine tablet, it pretty much goes away until the next year.

soulstar89 started following Cab that will compliment the tone hammer

Hey peeps, hope everyone is well and catching a tan in this weather lol. I am looking for a compact cab that will compliment the tone hammer. I’m looking for a compact size. The first one that comes to mind is the barefaced one10. Is there any others anyone could recommend for around that price range or cheaper ( it going to be for jamming at home with the misses who plays piano)?. I play a pbass Asian ash with maple fretboard. Chrome flats or dead rotosounds and playing style is all fingerstyle. I LOVE the ashdown abm evo head but it’s over kill atm for home I feel. cheers

You're not going to look like Arnie unless you eat loads of protein, lift massive weights all day. The farmers walk is the two handed version of the suitcase carry. I farmers walk my 2 cabs in, otherwise most of the stuff carried in is either a suitcase carry or 'box carry' - which is essentially a goblet squat and carry. -

So I guess the diffrence is if you are buying something for an investment or an instrument to play

I like the geezers, yes, upper mid push, tighter bottom end. They sound quite 70's to me in a good way. I don't think EQ will get you the same thing, but it might get you into the right space. Like @Lozz196 says - worth a try first!
-
I think a pure FRFR cab can be a little too HiFi, but I think there's consideration built into the LFSys cabs to stop them sounding harsh? Correct me if I'm wrong @stevie...

I'll check that out! I'm also using a DCX and B15 NAM which I really like! The DCX sounds exactly like my DCX. It's good to know that there's Tone3000 available to check out and it's free!

Great purchase at an amazing price!! You will have loads of fun with it. I’m a fan of the ABM 300 evo iv tone I’ve played. It’s heaven for a pbass with flats tone. Warm yet it has so much clarity for fingerstyle playing.
-
Thank you! I thought I had posted enough…

Cheers! *shameless plug alert*

This EQ is rather insane. I love me a 800hz boost but when I’ve boosted the 660hz mids on my p bass it’s still adds clarity.

I suppose the difference being is that if you spent 4k on a custom build it'll be worth approximately 2k the day its delivered to you, whereas if you buy a 4k bass on the second hand market (Wal, Fodera etc.) it'll probably be worth 4k if/when you move it on, assuming you haven't paid well over the odds.

So mine is finally arriving today. Stand-by for initial impressions.

I love the warm yet articulate clear sound you get. I have played the newest version ABM evo. It’s just beautiful. My Yamaha pulser pbass with chromes sound amazing at any volume level. Top top amp The only reason why I’m probably going to get a Aguilar tone hammer is the size. It will be for home use for the time being.
