  1. Past hour
  2. Lucky 🤞 it's not a ra..
  3. You've done the right thing - tried both and gone with the one that felt better. Congratulations, it's a beauty!
  4. I find it much easier on guitar than on bass. Probably because the guitar parts tend to follow the rhythmic structure of the vocal more closely than the bass does. And for many things, being a bit more avant-garde on guitar is fine and doesn't ruin the pulse of the tune. I started singing and playing at pretty much the same time - when I was introduced to James Hetfield in 1986/7 when a mate shared some TDK cassettes! I wanted to do that. So very frustratingly I can play fast metal on guitar and sing at the same time and have great trouble playing simple bass and singing at the same time! But generally, it's all about spotting things that line up with strums and vocal beats and using them as anchor points with flexibility in between.
  5. @RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE retirement is great, thanks for asking! I have never been as busy, it’s like I used to go to work for a rest re: MPC started using it eventually, once I had time, which you may think is an odd thing to say now I’m retired I watched a whole load of videos then realised a lot where before they did a major OS update, back, chipping away But, I’ve been spending more time with my DAW, getting everything work over midi in a way that makes for an easy life That includes my old Novation Ultranova, a Roland SE-02 I bought last year to use with the novation circuit that I had at the time and a Korg minilogue XD, because I’ve always wanted one Also have an Arturia keystep and a Behringher X-touch controller which is the last thing to connect it all runs through a Tascam Model 16, which was another retirement treat, a mixer upgrade from my 12 channel Mackie so next I’m going to throw the MPC into the USB hub and see what happens, now entering the world of midi clock with so much hardware, not something I’ve got involved with before I saw the Live III, probably makes a lot of sense for what somebody already called a ‘power user’ I suspect a few months in, as a mere mortal, I will only just have scratched the surface life is good 😊 Tony
  6. Great price for this beast of an octave. Loads of tones available from this one folks 👍🏻
  7. i was checking out the squires ...a couple or red flags being the potential intonation issues on the low e and some kind of acceptance that the neck pocket was a little open to neck swivel on the secondhand one i checked out ( maybe some would consider this a positive feature?) ...so i ended up paying about twice as much for a vinterra ...hard to point to any one particular thing other than to say the vintera just felt and played and sounded better ...why? i have no idea ...maybe im just imagining it since i didn't have both side by side to compare at the same time but it does seem to ooze quality...
  8. Four ten inch speakers as oppose to two - assuming similar quality - will more than likely make a difference, you`ve reduced the "bigness" of the sound by half, same as if you`d paired your LM800 with a 210 rather than 410 there would be an impact of the size of the sound. One thing to think of, although you`re having difficulty hearing the amp when playing @Suezee, did you get the opportunity to hear the mix of the band out front. Sometimes just elevating the combo and getting it off the ground can work wonders. Re another cab, double up on whatever format your combo is, if 210 then get the same cab-wise.
  9. Also Remember , Decibels aren't a linear scale , so if something is 10 DB more than another thing it's a 10 fold increase in sound intensity So when one of the guitarists or the drummer goes its only 110 or 120 and a Jackhammer is usually about 80 DB 😉
  10. This is a pretty good starting point;
  11. Hi, I'm writing to you from Italy. I'm interested. I can send the courier for pick up. Do you have PayPal for payment? Or you prefer money transfer? Thanks Alessandro
  12. For me the trick was to know both parts inside out, back to front and upside so that you never had to stop thinking about one to concentrate on the other. This was especially true when playing in a Thin Lizzy tribute band - not because the bass parts were particularly difficult but more because Lynott had a way of singing just behind the beat live that I wanted to replicate. As others have said - muscle memory for the bass lines, committing the lyrics to memory and then working out what aligns. Practice, practice, practice.
  13. Yep, although I would say my US Precisions are better than my Player am not sure the difference in quality is as much as the price tag would suggest. Sure the US has better tuners, bridge, pickups, and is string-thru but does that equate to nearly a grand? And I daresay a fair bit of the "betterness" - for myself - is personal preference on neck size and finish rather than difference in quality.
  14. Honestly, Jellyfish should have been enormous. Off the scale enormous. Luckily there's enough projects involving everyone involved (well, except Sturmer) to satiate the desire for music. If you've gotten past theose, check out Sugarbomb.
  15. Yes you guys are probably way too loud .... Buy a cheap DB meter on amazon there around 18 quid and check your volume in the room . Everywhere you play these days unless your playing a stadium is going to have a health and safety limit to protect their staff , 100 decibel peaking combined is on the verge of too loud especially in an rehearsal room , we use the meter balance our volume for each of the instruments it solves a lot of those noise wars that guitarists love to Engauge in as they turn up over each other. As Someone who also doesn't seem to get on with any of the fender rumble , ( who also happens to play an active stingray ) Whenever i have had the fender rumble forced upon me at shared Stage's rehearsal rooms etc i have had to do some very weird EQ'ing to cut through to get the sound / clarity that i have / want out of one of these , I find them both lacking the mids and Very boomy in the low end , both area's which i want to minimise to cut through. > What does your EQ look like on the amp > What does your EQ look like on the Ray > Have you changed your battery recently ( i did this and my volume increased quite dramatically turns out i do forget to unplug it a lot ) pushing your mids will really help you cut through a mix.
  16. @Silky999 how much would I be looking at for a paulownia Strat body - usual Fender dimensions, neck pocket and so on?
  17. I have the 500 combo (recently acquired). I've gigged it once going straight into the amp just to see what it was capable of and it seemed plenty loud to me. Next time I'll be using my pedal board and I'm pretty sure my MicroThumpinator will yield big results. It cuts out all of the frequencies below 37Hz (I think) and those frequencies gobble up the output of the amp with no sonic benefit. I'd strongly advise trying one out because it concentrates the power of your amp in frequencies that can actually be heard and cuts out the woolly stuff that either sounds dreadful or can't be heard at all.
  18. The simple answer is the extra money buys the American workers houses, Ford F-150 pickup trucks, and also adds to their pension schemes.
  19. I play in a 5 piece rock band: 2 guitarists drummer, bass and singer. No soundman & dont go through PA; just a backline. Im finding it difficult to hear my amp and last gig my output was switched to full with gain & master at 75% and vintage button pressed in. I got this combo as so many rave reviews about how loud it is & of course lightweight. Replaced my LM800 head & 4x10 cab which barely went above 25% on master vol. I know Im only 400w but surely that should cut through? Or maybe we are just too loud? Am I best off getting the 115 extension cab or 2x10?

  21. Epiphone EB3 SG Bass in lovely cherry red finish This is the long scale version 34" scale no dings or noticeable scratches or gouges looks and plays great , DIY mirrored scratch plate (can be removed) i prefer the look of the bass without a pickguard. This has also been fitted with a strap button adaptor This balances the bass perfectly and eliminates the notorious Epiphone/ Gibson neck dive this too can be removed if preferred, but it does make the bass much more comfortable to play Only selling due to upgrading to a new Gibson Model. unfortunately i don't have a spare case for this so would prefer pick up.from Cambs pe285ap

  23. This is a Precision / jazz bass made up of various Fender and non Fender parts. Body is a Artist royal blue sparkle p/j Bass A custom made mirror pickguard. The neck is a generic Fender copy with Block markers and a fender logo . The Machine heads are genuine Fender from a Vintera Telecaster bass The pickups are genuine Fender yosimite pickups from a Fender Japan Aerodyne bass. This bass is 9 volt Active / Passive via a pull push pot, sounds great in either mode. looks , sounds and plays great . i built this bass for a Glam Rock show which unfortunately never materialized. has had a pro set up and is ready to gig. no case so pickup only. from cambs pe285ap. i would consider postage including a used hard case in good condition plus postage and insurance for £375
