Another vote for DR. I went on a similar quest a few years ago, trying a different brand of round wounds every month. The brightest, zingiest strings I found were DR Hi Beams. The most disapointing were Dunlop Super Brights, they were medium bright at best .

Just because something is all hype doesn't mean it won't actually be useful to you!

Unless you have vast amounts of money to spend on studio reference speakers and serious acoustic treatment for your control room, the best thing to do is to pick a set of speakers and headphone and spend a couple of months listening to your favourite music on them so that you know how they sound. Then you'll be able to use them to make proper evaluations of your own recordings.

Could look at a secondhand Kawaii MP6? The keybed is good and the sounds were decent for their time. No internal speakers though

I bought the Ibanez Talman for my kids to learn to play, but after they cast it aside have found it to be a nice round the house bass, also because being quite cheap I don't worry about keeping it in a case to avoid knocks and scrapes (unlike my other instruments). It is very playable but I think the cheap electronics do not do it any favours (as multiple failed jack sockets over a relatively short time have proved). Indeed I now most often play it just acoustically. I suspect one of the main problems with short scale basses is the fact that the majority are fairly low end to cater for children/beginners, and hence they have a reputation for being low end.

@ash is selling a module which replicates the organ sound, here. You can connect it via MIDI-din, and use the Line In on your Yamaha PF-85 to amplify the sound. As for your next piano, I would suggest that you try before you buy. With your real acoustic piano, and your old but worthy Yamaha PF-85, your standards and requirements will be high. Certainly, I would suggest that you go for something better than what you have now, rather than a sideways move.

I'm not sure what you're asking? With Moises you just drag and drop a mp3 file, at least that's what I do, and it takes it from there. Of course you need a mp3 to start with, so perhaps you need another app to download / purchase music files?

If you're at all technically-inclined, I've been running a self-hosted docker container of MeTube to pull the mp3 track from YouTube vids. Obviously this won't cover all songs but a good start for anything that's on YouTube. As for anything else, well to stay on the right side of the law you'll need to be ripping your own CD collection or buying online - I'm not aware of any tools that can pull tracks from streaming platforms, and it'll very likely be against their Terms and Conditions to do so.

Necrothread bump: Admittedly I haven't been great at updating this thread as originally intended because it's just been one disappointment after another. I sold the Boss SY200 recently because the arpeggiation wasn't user programmable, the Source Audio C4 was sold last year due to connectivity faff and the Alexander Colour Theory and the Cooper FX Moment Machine both did pitch based arpeggiation but didn't do ADSR. So two steps of the same pitch and duration became one step of double the duration which meant it couldn't trigger a bass synth pedal. And of course I could only uncover all of this after shelling out for one. BUT after 16 years...I think my quest might be over. In August this year, a small company called Polyend released a pedal called the Mess which does virtually every kind of sequenced effect plus a load of delays and reverbs. I finally got my hands on one today and while I've had only a modest muck about with it so far just checking out factory presets...it's absolutely capable of pitch based arpeggiation with ADSR and user programmable pitch intervals. Yes i contacted G4M support too and had the same experience, they don't know why its a problem and weren't very helpful to be honest... they must be made from lead with the weights quoted, shame as the prices are great

At my age I'm looking for a quieter life and Wymondham ticks all the boxes for me, some nice pubs and places to eat, just a few miles from Norwich, and not that far from the coast. Obviously it would be great if I could find a band, but if it doesn't happen, then it wouldn't be the end of the world because I've been thinking about calling it a day for some time.

Yeah I never really thought about short-scale basses, even though I leaned to play on one, til my back dictated the need. I was expecting a situation of "well that`s what I need to put up with" but was pleasantly surprised at how well they work for me.
