Do you think of yourself as a musical 'artist'?
SumOne replied to SumOne's topic in General Discussion
I suppose it just comes down to semantics but it is the amount of 'craft' or technical knowledge/training that many 'artists' have to have that got me thinking that it is often more about learning and applying a craft than being artistic. e.g. a Ballerina, no doubt it is a highly skilled thing to do and takes years of technical training, but when it comes down to it - how much is actual artistic expression, and how much is by applying what has been taught? Me playing a cover version of a song on the Bass? I think that is almost entirely down to having spent the time to learn the craft of playing, I don't think I'm really adding anything particularly artistic. And even when I make up an original bassline - I think I'm just applying knowledge of all the other basslines I've heard and played and applying some music theory and technical playing skill, but art - from the soul communicating my inner emotions?!?...I'm not so sure! -

I studied latin for a few years and the 2nd declension, nominative plural does end in I. So Servus (which means slave) becomes Servi But Status is actually a name, so maybe it's different

For sale, My Tecamp 4x10 cab in very good used condition and perfect working order. I have been using this for a good while but its not getting the use now sadly. Super punchy sound and capable of handling some serious volume. Adjustable tweeter hidden inside the carry handle to limit accidents! Gives an added versatility to this already great cab. light for a full size 4x10, 30kg according to the manual. Front ported, with a very strong metal grill and excellent build quality round off this German made belter. Additional items in picture 2 are for size reference only. Although the Tecamp 1x15 is coordinating sale separately on this very site. Postage possible at a push please pm to discuss. Cheers.

I don't refer to myself as an artist. P!ss artist, maybe... If other people want to refer to me as an "artist", I won't correct them though -

Zoom Ultra Fuzz UF-01: Had one years ago and had some nostalgic curiosity. Just as good as I remember and not super keen to get rid, but there's other things I want and with 85 DIY pedals on the shelves, I have a strict one in one out policy on branded pedals... For those who don't know, the ultra fuzz was something of a hidden gem - often very wrongly considered a fuzz factory clone, it's absolutely anything but. Can do noisy squeals but also does very rich dense heavy distortion. This one is in absolutely immaculate condition, with box. Price is £125 and includes postage with adequate insurance. Pickup available from Sheffield or Leeds also an option Zoom MS-70CDR+ Multistomp Now the other end of the Zoom spectrum, the new version of the Chorus, Delay, Reverb multistomp pedal. Just not using it enough to keep, it's genuinely amazing but I've just got my sounds settled with other pedals. Had from new and never left the desk, absolutely immaculate with box. £90 posted with adequate insurance.

The moment that no-one has been waiting for. The complete 10:45 minute bass performance of the tune 'Mr. B. (For Ray Brown)' from the 1998 Dave Holland Quintet album, 'Points of View'. A monster chart. Tough to read and tough to play but so much learning in there. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/mr-b-dave-holland-quintet/

Disappointing new bass day...I would appreciate some opinions.
Burns-bass replied to N64Lover's topic in Bass Guitars
In extremis, obviously, but for most purposes it’s not relevant. This was a contextual point. I’m talking a few mm here (from the pictures) but not the sizeable deviation you’d get from a severely misaligned pickup or a string bend, for example. Pedantry appreciated but I’d say the pickups here were the least of the owner’s worries. -

I'm pretty sure he and I are thinking the same, it's why the headstock was out of the pics -
Do you think of yourself as a musical 'artist'?
Cat Burrito replied to SumOne's topic in General Discussion
I probably didn't but playing several instruments, co-writing and co-producing, I think I do more now. I know what people mean about it being a bit pretentious sounding, but it's less pretentious than a lot of the terminology in most day jobs these days! -
For sure. May sell my Digitech Drop now though...

I don`t. Although I`ve written a good many songs, most of which are on CDs/Vinyl/Streaming etc I see myself more as a musician/bassist than songwriter/artist. This possibly comes from never really being the primary songwriter in the bands I`ve been in. -

These are Absolutely fantastic , units I use one as a Tubescreamer , a RAT and a Big muff , this thing gives you all the benefit of " behaving like analog pedals with blend functionality but with the flexibility of pugging the thing in and swapping the "Pedal sim " for somthing else on the menu . A huge stable of options , And even the ability to switch it from " toggle to latch" for those ... i want my Fuzz in the Chorus only moments, So much versatility for the price , bargain. -
