Peterson combo driver upgrade (and related plywood boxes)
Pea Turgh replied to Pea Turgh's topic in Amps and Cabs
All put together. Sounds loud and deep as hell, but still a little muddy around 200hz. Sounds like many other bass cabs I’ve heard though. Maybe my tastes are a little different. I don’t go for the super flubby bottom end - I like clean and tight. Actually prefer the sound of the Beyma in the Peterson box as-is! I see a twin 8” build in the future… -
I think it was the first one out in 2025 so I'm not even gonna attempt 2026!

If you can stretch to Leicester, I can very much recommend Howard Smith for guitar work. He’s done all manner of work on my kit and that of many of Leicester’s gigging musos for years. He’s a top man. -
Nice acquisition Neep, enjoy! Not helping my Grabber GAS mind...

Im about to move into a new flat and basically need everything 🤣 so a few odds and ends will find their way up for sale. This is a fantastic pedal, a licensed version of the vaunted Bugbrand bugcrusher which is very expensive. Its a sample rate reducer with clean blend and one of the most musical ive ever tried. It took me ages to find one used, but i lterally use it on two tunes with a band that rarely gigs, so up it goes. Its in fantastic condition with a lovely sparkly silver finish, its got velcro on the bottom, no box unfortunately. £95 incl UK only delivery

Just sketched out something that will be equal to two 1x8s stacked on landscape. Me likey. I was just going to make it with those dimensions and put two ports in. I would welcome your input though @Phil Starr!

If it is the same one, there's not much of a profit there. £11.32, to be exact. Cost including 26.4% hammer fee, £783.68. It may be an optical illusion, but it looks as if the switch is orientated at 90 degrees to the one on Gumtree.

Quite different machines perhaps? I have a Passion from 198 something and its wonderful, having said that the John Birch, for all its flaws sounds like Concord taking off (in a good way).

This is probably a bit controversial, but I've always felt that a fretless Thunderbird is a bit like a five string Rickenbacker. Deeply unnatural.....

I've got a spare set of panels and a speaker. I was going to build and document the build sometime soon so I'll have a pair of these. I'm also happy to design a 2x8 for anybody who wants a go at building one. (this is where I'm tryiong to remember if I've already done this design for anyone)

Reissue priced at £40.99, yours (new, sealed) for £25 posted UK. Now £20 Now £15 OMD’s 1985 album Crush, will be reissued for its 40th anniversary in October. The band’s sixth album features the singles ‘So In Love,’ and ‘Secret’, with the former reaching the top 30 of the charts on both sides of the Atlantic. The 2LP vinyl edition features seven unreleased tracks. Both formats include rare photos and comprehensive notes by journalist and author Jason Draper in conversation with Andy McCluskey. The 40th anniversary re-release of Crush has been a wonderful opportunity for us to re-assess the album. 1985 was a period of great intensity with constant touring and time pressure in the studio, but we created a powerful collection of songs and lyrical themes. In hindsight, we made a much better album than we knew at the time. Two hit singles ‘So in Love’ and ‘Secret’ remain live set constants to this day. ANDY MCCLUSKEY

I fancy having a go with a monitor style cab with the back corners at 45 degrees. I’d make the cab a bit wider and deeper to keep the same internal volume and match the form factor of a 10” cab I have

High quality fuzz with some great sounds including Velcro tearing gated fuzz for some synthy action plus more traditional fuzz noises. In the original box with some feet and a sticker. Velcro’d on the bottom plus free of charge carpet fluff. I’m trying to free up cash for a BassRig 15 so not a massive interest in trades / part-ex unless there’s a Cioks DC7 or a GigRig QMX4 involved.

Looks like my old one - I bought it for £650 in 2006. Best rock bass Ive played is one of those old Vigier Arpeges though. They've more in the tank than a Birchenbacker.
