  2. Well indeed, apart from the TRC I can't see what you're looking for here. But I'll throw some fuel on the T-40 parts fire... When I fitted a T-40 pickup to my DeArmond Jet Star, the pickup ring was a bit warped and sad, so I got one 3D printed using this model - fits great! If they're not bothered about originality of parts, this could get someone out of jail - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3587735
  3. Sorry, missed your post. Thanks for the info.
  4. PMd you Mark....😎
  5. I normally would agree with most of what Phil says! But the "weight" of the bass IMO comes particularly from the 120Hz to 150Hz region so I would, if anything, boost that by +3db or so. I think if you are agressively cutting bass below 160Hz that feels too high a cut off, and you'll risk ending up with quite a thin sound. I'd personally recommend cutting from 80Hz to 100Hz to get rid of low end crud, and leave your mids flat rather than cutting them; and as you've already shared mid scoop can sound sweet solo'd but it's where you're losing yourself in the mix.
  6. My mid 90s FL Ray put an end to my ignorant snobbery of PF - it's got more Mwah than a couple of posh birds air kissing.
  7. Ultimate fuzz for bass IMO is the Blackarts toneworks Pharaoh. Massive range of tones and maintains tight low end.
  8. Hi folks Another lovely bass sadly having to go. This is a great active modern J bass with some stand-out features. The bass has a zero fret (like Sandbergs), a bone nut, 24-fert neck with deep cut away in body for easy access and a very nice "heelless" joint for even better access, a tilted back headstock and noiseless pickups. The bass is in excellent condition and comes with the original high-quality Cort gig bag. I have also added some soft-touch control knobs with tell tales as the original fit items are fine but you can't tell at a glance where the settings are. The controls are: Volume (pull for preamp bypass) Blend Treble Mids (pull for mid frequency shift) Bass The full spec is here: Specifications · Code: NJS-4 WHT · Body: Alder · Construction: Bolt-On · Neck: Hard Maple 3pcs · Fretboard: Hard Maple · Radius: 12" (305mm) · Frets: 24 w/ Zero Fret · Scale: 34" (864mm) · Inlay: White Pearloid Block · Tuners: Hipshot Ultralite · Bridge: MetalCraft M4 · Pickups: Cort Voiced Tone VTB-ST · Electronics: Bartolini® Elrick NJS Special Preamp · Hardware: Chrome · Strings: D'Addario EXL165 · Special: Bone Nut Pickups The new Voiced Tone VTB-ST single-coil pickups perfectly complement the big robust sound of the bass with modern clarity, transparency and vintage warmth while eliminating noise with its hum-cancelling design. Collection or meet up preferred, but may be able to post if I can find a box. Here are some pics. The second pic looks a bit blue in tone, not sure why. I think the rest look to be a good representation:

  10. They shouldn't. The room affects the PA of course, but standing close enough to the PA to take the room out of the equation your in-ears should sound very close to the same.
  11. Okay, so a long time has passed, but I had an email from Blue Aran to say that the Lavoce speakers mentioned above by @Bill Fitzmaurice were finally in stock, so I've just ordered two. This cab, which was rated at 125w, is on the way to becoming an 800w monster! When the speakers arrive I'll make any modifications needed to fit them and then repaint the white on the inside of the enclosure. I'm hoping to have some fun with this cabinet and my TE Elf, as well as my Ampeg PF500.
  12. Caught a band in Brighton a few years ago… the bass player was playing a Ric through a Trace with a 4x10 cab… and the tone was absolutely perfect. 👍
  13. Happened to me. I call it the pop/rock plateau, and the cure for me was to get serious about Jazz/Big band and get out there and play it. It completely upended and improved the way I do bass 100%. Fifteen yrs on and Im a far better, more accomplished player.
  14. So would anything around the £1500 mark be high? Would only be looking for a 90s one and not a graphite neck model.....
  15. I found that set about 3 o'clock I got a brilliant funk sound that made even my slapping sound half decent.
  16. Finally got to put the wee beastie through some of it's paces with the Jazz Bass this afternoon and I'm rather impressed. As a practice mini bass amp it's very good indeed. At first I thought the compressor wasn't working until I realised it works more like a limiter to tame transient notes rather than obviously squashing the sound and adding sustain..
  17. Portaflex on steroids. I use mine all the time. Superb amps. GLWTS.

  19. Naughty boy, Tim. Someone is bound to take the bait...
  20. Bloody hell, £3k! That one has 18v electrics, any idea why this would be? The Trace Elliot one I have and other Status ones I've seen only have the single 9v batteries. Mark
  21. Not sure if this'll have any interest, but given a EBMM logo Mono case is £199, thought I'd get the advert out there for this hard case as cash would be nicer to me than a case kept in the attic. So, on the off-chance there may be some interest.... Came with a 2020 4 string EBMM StingRay Special. Following a recent 24hr listing of the bass, followed by my wife's frown and my own 'doh' forehead slap - the bass itself will be sticking around for a good while at the least. Please post here or PM for more pics.
  22. Wow, lots of jolly useful information for me to take on board there. In particular the ole Bartolini thing is a bit Marmite it seems. My only experience with them is the Cort B4 AS+ fretless I have (my one and only Cort). I bought it new and I guess it's 'So-So'. Another reason for stalling on buying another Cort 🤔😕! I do have a permanent 'Jazz' setting I retain on one of my amp combo's, thinking about it, it's the setting I use the most so could work well for me. Just wish I could plug an M6 and a Space into it and see which works best for me 🤗 Many thanks again for all your help
  23. I really shouldn't be quite so chuffed with a £10 9V PSU. But this one has decent 2A capacity and, if you're ever gigging with single multi-fx pedal, this has a 2m cable! Bloody marvellous!
  24. @Phil StarrWe use in ear monitors which sound sooo different to the main PA sound, i.e. very toppy and they pick up every string click which can be a bit off-putting. However I'm more concerned with the front of house sound as I'm often told that the audience can't hear the bass very well so I will try your suggestions at the gig tonight.
  25. I might be missing something here but what difference does the line make
