I wonder what 'Handcrafted' means. I'm pretty sure it means, assembled in California from parts made in other countries.

TBH, I never much connected with Wals. But now I'd have one because they are desirable. Ain't that a thing...

Greco GOB 700 and 900 (I think single and twin pick up models)? Headstock redolent of an eighties Ibanez. Excellent build quality. Mostly a Japanese domestic thing I think as they are like hens teeth in UK/Europe...

For those wanting a graphite neck at a silly price, here is a 26 frets Moses Jazz Bass neck and you can even get a whole bass including an original Kahler tremolo for ... 500 Euros. https://www.bassic.de/kleinanzeigen/jb-bass-mit-carbonhals.61515/ -

Kind of a niche of a niche but La Bella just dropped 5 new Mustang sets (through body only). The stainless steel flat set looks to be identical to their Deep Talkin' Bass set, but I'm curious about the Super Polished set. No UK dealers as yet though. https://www.labella.com/?s=stang -

Mmm. So Fender won't show 'em to you on the site but you can order one..... And then Snorkie gets an email showing 'em as still being buyable...! Would any one else deduce they are in fact discontinued... Fender floggin' off remaining stock?... Cos there is a new one due...??

That'll be a rare one, no?! I'm curious to hear how much it feels like a short scale as the bridge is quite far into the body -

If you can use a 34” and would consider a semi, the Sire GB5 might be worth a look and they’re currently on sale under £400. Bridge is set well back on them.

Basses you hardly ever see for sale
HeadlessBassist replied to BaggyMan's topic in General Discussion
I can understand that completely. The T-Bass was always a fantastic instrument. If you know, you know. As for WAL. Huge respect and huge values, but rather meh to play. -
This is as hard-hitting as Lucinda’s songs, and to be frank it’s a wee bit too honest. But that makes it compelling reading, so if you like her music it’s a solid investment. If you don’t know who she is, consult YouTube immediately… Hardback, very good condition. RRP £20, yours for £13 posted. Now just £11.

Suggestion meet solution Just checked my emails, these were the specific problems I had 1. UPS refused to collect due to the value of the bass which meant I had to take it to a 'Service Centre' where the staff had apparently no idea what to do with the paperwork and at least some of the documents didn't make it to the US 2. It was almost impossible to identify the correct import code, which IIRC we eventually had to leave off the form which further slowed down the process 3. Despite the buyer repeatedly speaking to them on the phone, UPS kept emailing me new forms to complete requiring the information the buyer had already provided (these were almost certainly system generated but I got the sense that phone conversations and digital comms were completely independent of each other). UPS tracking was also a disaster, we received 'Out for delivery' emails followed by 'Your item has been held by Customs' emails frequently Eventually Rob at Status provided the necessary information, which IIRC was related to the material of the neck inlays, and after a few weeks the bass was released. I have a friend who like @walshy regularly sends guitars to the US, his view is that it's generally ok but that when it goes wrong it goes spectacularly wrong, guess we were unlucky In the grand scheme of things, all unimportant stuff. But it was an expensive and rare instrument and myself and the buyer had three weeks of worry about losing it, something neither of us could really afford to do, especially as it was a little ambiguous as to whether the insurance would cover an impounded instrument, I suspect not. But even though I might have been unlucky, I will not use UPS again, ever 😡
