  1. Past hour
  2. Some developers near where I live have had a planning application to build houses accepted where the directly adjacent neighbour is the shooting club. Next to the chaps firing rifles (and not just .22) there are the Rugby and football clubs. I suspect there will be a few noise complaints once those houses are built. Before moving I took a few late walks through the area and asked locals; the conclusion was that it was a quiet area. What I didn't discover was the plans to build a hotel nearby, with my street being on the quickest route back for hotel guests who've been trying the local pubs. New windows have dealt with most of the nuisance from that.
  3. Planning to attend this year. Gear Fender Imp combo, Fender Mike Kerr Jaguar, Fender Stu Hamm Urge 1, HB ThunderStang, Squier Paranoemal Rascal, Mark Bass Bronco ( very yellow), Ashdown Capri ( very Pink) PS I will leave it to Admin to add me to the list🤪
  4. what I wrote concerned: Steve Browning He seems (from his edit) to be irritated by the criticism (that is intended to help him). Given the lack of the anti-scam evidence, and his reluctance to provide simple information, it may be that he does't actually even own this bass. Just saying.
  5. Let's Storm The Capitol - BOKASSA
  6. Just my opinion gregor, with vintage instruments some people like to study all the usual stamps, codes and internal pics before they make an enquiry, I myself like to see these, I think you may stand more chance of selling, anyway good luck with your sale, it looks great
  7. Hi Itu, Thanks for the comment, hope you're keeping well. It seems that the phantom paint chipper strikes again!!!
  8. Fairly well-known that John Entwistle suffered for decades at the hands (and ears?) of live 'soundmen', producers and engineers. Many ripped the top and middle out of what he was trying to do back in the day. Fully get your response @Wolverinebass.
  9. If SH is an option, Charvel San Dimas Pro Mod basses have a lovely "jazz bass on ozempic" neck. Some people experienced some noise from the electronics and made a lot of noise about it. I've had a couple, one-early, one later and neither had any noise issues. As a second-hand buy, I think they are excellent value.
  10. Prior to purchasing (can't wait!) the Cort Space 4 Thomann music shop have today written to me to confirm the following: You can use any standard roundwound strings on this bass, and the clamp on the headstock allows you to use standard bass strings. With flatwound strings, the winding can break due to the pressure of the grub screw (which secures the string to the headstock). Therefore, we cannot recommend these clamp screws. This is due to the design of flatwound strings. That's disappointing news but if anyone on here has been successful with using flats on this bass I'd love to know.
  11. A venue I`ve played a few times had a nearby building bought by people of a religious faith. Who then complained about noise whilst they were praying, and wanted the venue closed down. The venue itself wasn`t/isn`t in a residential area, so noise levels hadn`t been affecting anyone until the purchase above. As per a few other posts, do your research when buying, and don`t buy then expect an existing business to change/be closed down.
  12. Before you judge someone, think twice about what you write... I'm writing in the ad asking only seriously interested people to contact me via private message. If someone doesn't understand, it's not my fault....

  16. Ordered 1 May, delivered 25 July - so a little over the 10 weeks stated. No updates during that time (even after phoning customer service number provided on confirmation, UK-based, useless had no info beyond it will arrive at some point). Eventually emailed the address supplied on the confirmation and got through to very helpful team (Amsterdam-based I think) who explained they ship these to Europe in batches, so the bass was made but waiting at the dock. Sent me a £100 gig bag by way of apology. Bass and gig bag ended up arriving on the same day. Was she worth it? Very... https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B2AGrhkPxGIGnBp Alder Body in Shell Pink Roasted Maple 1963 C Neck American Vintage II PJ 60/66 Pick-ups Mint Green Pickguard Fit and finish are all really decent and it weighs about 8.5 lbs. Set-up was decent, way-better than other stock Fenders I've had from new. All-in-all, I'm a very happy boy.

  17. After going through preferred setup and changing suitable strings would help. But I find it true that usually you get the feel about any bass pretty quickly, no matter what strings or setup. The instrument just feels good to you or not.
  18. My favourite colour scheme on any Bass is natural/maple/black scratchplate... simple and classic. If you're going for anything else, go all out - glittery pink or purple!
  19. To me, Hadrien Féraud is better on the fretless as he's more expressive and less prone to show off. Thanks @lowdown for sharing these two videos that I saw when they were first released. Too bad I can't find a physical support of these sessions, a CD to put it simple...
  20. I dislike noise as much as the next guy, my neighbour is a particular nuisance when he starts drilling into the party wall at 7.30 in the morning, but you don't move next to the M1 and complain about the traffic noise. You don't move next to a pub and complain about drunks. . . . etc etc
  21. A friend of my wife’s owns the only pub in the village. She’s always been strict about closing at 11pm and is only open four days a week. She used to put on live music in a dedicated function room. Then a couple moved in next door and started complaining… So, no music anymore, live or otherwise. This isn’t good enough, though, oh no! They don’t want people talking while walking past their house at closing time. So she had to buy signs that tell people to be quiet when they leave. She has decided to sell the pub, and those neighbours are part of the reason for it. There used to be two pubs in the village but the other one got turned into a bistro/deli. Who knows what’ll happen to her pub once it’s sold?
  22. Bad sound engineers are a different issue though, if I was doing circuit gigs using house PA/engineers and didn't know what the setup would be I would take my own preamp and just give them a feed from there. Having an optional Sansamp provided if any bands on the bill didn't have their own pre should be seen as a good gesture by the sound guy, not them trying to exert control. If they're one of those goons that removes everything except rumble from the bass signal then address that. Most of my experiences with house engineers has been good, we only do a few gigs like that every year though and they're usually in dedicated music venues away from cities.
  23. Agree, I live next to a school and wouldn’t do it again

  26. This is why I hate live sound guys. That would be a provocation I wouldn't be taking at all. I mean, what is it with them? What part of it do they not realise that people want different things? Obviously, I'm not playing an Alembic because I want to sound like a reggae bass player you melt. Oh, you're just cutting off everything above 800Hz when I specifically told you not to? Thanks for that. In more than 20 years of playing in London I've only had maybe 10 decent live engineers. All the rest have been megabells who have ruined my sound by tearing out all the top end and mids. The pinnacle of this idiocy was playing my 12 string Hamer through a Tech 21 Dug pedal which as some of you might know has a balanced xlr output with a cab sim. I was told "pre eq DI only." I refused point blank to do that explaining why. The bloke refused to take the feed from the pedal and took the DI output of the amp I had plugged into. He then tore all the top end off in the PA. I had to be restrained by my bandmates after that gig.
  27. Thanks for information!
