  2. Hi. Music theory. Very boring until something clicks. Then you have a new tool. I am a big fan of Relative Minor. Mostly because I understand this one. Piano keyboards really help to visualise this. The method is simple. Play a major triad, wait, play a three note chord, e.g C major, made up of notes C, E & G. Then count three notes (might be something to do with the 'third' bit?) down from the root note C, you get an A. So now the chord has four notes A, C, E, G. It has a new root note A. Now it is A minor 7th. Wow. That is a complicated chord and sounds all deamy. It works for any major chord. With this you and your bass can adjust all the major chords, in all your bands songs, into dreamy minor thirds, and the melody with still fit. You could move the vocal down three notes too and see what happens. I've used it for remixing. As soon as you play a known vocal and slam heavy bass in the relative minor, all goes dark and spooky. Now that I'm the bass guitarist, when I get in a band, I'll have a weapon to change all their songs into minor third remixes which I'm sure they'll really appreciate. Has anyone tried this with their band? How did it go? Next week we'll learn how when playing a minor triad, adding a new note four semitones down from the root will create a major seventh from the new root note. But I don't want to say too much yet or it will give it away.
  3. Not at £50!! By the time it's shipped, due to it's size, there will be next to nothing left. Happy to meet somewhere though within a reasonable distance to hand over.

Boasting 8 different reverb types, including a blissful Shimmer verb and a Sustain mode, the Immerse MkII also sports more standard Spring and Plate reverb sounds to satisfy the traditionalists. However, Neunaber's flagship W3T reverb mode has been refined too, delivering a smoother and more three-dimensional sound. Stereo outputs also let you take full advantage of the incredible reverbs offered by the unit, so that you can achieve an ultra-wide wall of sound when using two amplifiers. Modes: W3T (Wet version 3) — exclusive to the Mk II, our new flagship reverb is smoother and more three-dimensional sounding than ever before. Now with adjustable pre-delay, it enhances what you play without covering it. Plate – Bright and diffuse like a studio plate reverb. Hall – The lush, open sound of a concert hall, now with adjustable modulation depth for achieving deep modulated tones. Spring – The distinctive twerp of a tube-driven spring reverb. Now with adjustable modulation speed, it can achieve a vibrato-spring sound. Sustain – A new algorithm built on the W3T reverb. This magical, versatile effect can be configured as a sustainer or infinite reverb. Echo – Combining the W3T reverb with stereo echo. Detune – Adds a detuned double of the dry signal with reverb, now with true blend control between detune and detuned reverb. Shimmer – Reminiscent of a synth pad that follows what your instrument plays, this effect combines the best qualities of our previous shimmers

  12. £80.00 WMD Parametric EQ in it's original box with user information sheet. This unit is in excellent unmarked condition and perfect working order. Great quality EQ in a compact pedal, tryout/collection welcome or insured UK postage for £8.00 There are 3 bands of EQ with frequency ranges from about 40Hz to 15kHz. Each band is an independent bandpass filter with adjustable center frequency, quality factor, and gain. Use them to sculpt and shape your tone however you like. Stomp Switch - This footswitch activates the EQ. The center LED will be lit when the pedal is engaged. Freq - This selects the center frequency of the filter. The three frequency ranges are: 31Hz to 1.6kHz, 100Hz to 4.8kHz, 300Hz to 16kHz. Q - The Quality Factor (Q) gives you control over the sharpness of the filter. Turn it up and the filter section becomes resonant and more abrasive. Low Q settings sound like a traditional EQ, higher Q adds resonant nodes. The Q ranges from about .1 to around 30. Level - This controls how much cut or boost you have from the band. Center it (0) and the band is out of the circuit. Turn clockwise and you'll get more of that frequency, turn counter-clockwise and you'll hear less. If all 3 controls are at 0, you should be able to click the pedal on and off and not hear any difference. Overall Level - This gives a overall cut or boost at the output of the Parametric EQ. Like a volume control, but with some gain available.

  13. As new still sealed in packs, 3 sets available £12.90 per set including postage. I have been trying various brands of strings on a number of basses, whilst these are very nice I'm going to Dunlop's for my fretted Warwick. To my ears these seem similar to Rotosounds, maybe not quite as 'zingy' initially.

  17. Gibson EB0 1968/69 Bass USA This old bass comes complete with original tug bar, working mute and bridge cover. The big Gibson mud-bucker is stock and sounds massive. Short scale, set neck with pearl inlays and rosewood board. Mahogany body. I replaced the foam in the bridge as an old yellow kitchen sponge was in it when I bought it. The screws holding the cover in place look newer to me and there is some more modern looking wire connecting to the jack in the control plate. See pics. The other thing I did was to replace the G tuner as it was slipping (in ‘68 Gibson were using imported tuners from their Kalamazoo range to keep up with orders as interest in the bass hit it’s peak). On the headstock picture you can see the original which I will include. When I took the tuner off Schallers or similar had been fitted at some point but then returned to stock. It is strung with Thomastik Jazz flats. When I bought it the bass was wearing the heaviest, nastiest mix of black nylon Rotos and round wounds but the neck had managed to stay straight. The bass has had no neck or headstock repairs. It’s lovely to play and nice and light but resonant. It is a one trick pony but it does that trick very well and I found it very musical. The action is low and the string tension low so unplugged it’s quite buzzy. Played through an amp it sounds great but at the time I was using it I was recovering from a fretting hand op so playing it now it could probably do with the action raising. I’m out of action again with rotator cuff so can’t do this at the moment. The trussrod works properly and the frets have life in them but are probably due for a crown. I bought it with a pretty nifty home made case. I would think it rare to find one with all its original hardware. UK only sorry. No trades, pickup preferred so you can try it out but I can post if that’s difficult. It’s a gigged, vintage bass over half a century old so lots of finish checking (that looks gorgeous) and dings. The pictures show it strung with D’Addarios but the bass is now wearing Thomastik flats as per description.

  24. Very sad to be doing this, but up for TRADE ONLY (for now) is my lovely Yamaha TRB-IIF 5-string factory fretless bass in trans blue. It's a 35" scale factory fretless version of the well-regarded TRB-II basses. Made in Japan between 1998 and 2004, these were top of the line instruments, featuring Yamaha Alnico single-coil hum cancelling pickups and Yamaha's TRB 'Q-mix' 3-band preamp. This is an absolutely lovely example; there's some very small dings on the top but otherwise it's amazing for a 25+ year bass. The serial no suggests it was made in 2000 (if I've read this guide correctly). It has 18mm string spacing, and is currently fitted with DR Legend flatwounds. I think I have some Rotosound tapewounds if you would prefer. A lovely low action and amazing fretless tone. Got Basschat strap holders on ATM - I'll remove those and the strap unless you desperately want them. I picked this up a couple of years ago in a trade with TheGreek of this parish for my fretted TRB1005J, but the sad fact is I don't play enough fretless to justify keeping it, and I have some gigs coming up where a fretted 5 would be more useful (I have a Lakland 5 but it's strung E-C for one particular gig - I now need something strung B-G for other stuff). So I'm looking for a 5-string, ideally an active Jazz or equivalent with at least 18mm string spacing. Active isn't a deal-breaker, though, so happy to consider anything that's got 5 strings and 18mm spacing. Trading for a fretted Japanese TRB/TRB-II would be ideal; I might consider a TRB1005J plus cash if it's in natural. In a perfect world, I'd be happy to trade (plus adjustments as necessary) if someone had a TRB6 they were looking to shift on. I'm not really looking for 4 strings, however nice they are (even if TRBs), sorry. Not really looking to trade for anything else either ATM, though if you are desperate to buy this for cold hard cash, message me. I'm based in the SW so this is probably best for SW-based people as I'd prefer to meet up, but again if you're desperate and have something that fits the bill, but you're elsewhere, message me. Thanks for reading!

  25. What rubbish news, Hiscox are the only cases I use. On the plus side, I've got five so that's my pension sorted.
  26. Carvin SB, Kiesel JB, Peavey Cirrus, Lightwave VL in that price range. I had a Kubicki Key Factor but they're silly money now. All lively preamps with a strong B, but the Cirrus doesn't have a passive option (would need a mod) and even the 4 strings tend to be 35" scale.
  27. Lowthers weren't remotely SOTA hifi 50ya let alone what you can do with horns these days.
