  2. Some odd conclusions being drawn here. The nominal impedance of a speaker is just the lowest resistance at its resonant frequency. In practice speakers are receiving complex AC waveforms and their actual impedance seen by the amplifier will be hundreds of ohms. The wire that a speaker is made from is extremely thin, and will burn out well before any connectors or 1.5mm² flex will. And that will be for a different reason. For long runs you should be using powered speakers, not running tens of metres of twin flex.
  3. Interested in this and close by (Chesterfield) , on holiday till the end of the week though. If it isn't sold by then I'll probably take it :)
  4. Pair of side cutters. That's the best mains detector. They make a flash, a bang and a cloud of smoke to let you know a cable is live. And develop a neat notch to provide a permanent record.
  5. Hmmm...not the first time I've looked at this...even though I am without a Spector I really can't justify another bass. GLWTS
  6. It must be irony, I don’t think he’s the best songwriter in the portaloo when he’s the only one in it
  7. Not sure if this should be here or "Other music stuff" as it's a guitar effects/processor. Anyway, as above, fully working Line 6 floorboard and V.2.0 Pod, with connecting cable and Line 6 PSU. The ultimate bedroom noodler kit but also well gigable. Immense fun for not much money. It's old school, but has some fab patches. I've even managed to tailor a pretty good Eric Johnson patch, unfortunately, I play more like Ulrika. The floorboards usually go for about £60 in the real world so another £20 for the Pod, cable and PSU seems fair. Could post at buyer's cost or happy if anyone wants to pop round and try it out. Price firm, not looking for trades as heading towards retirement. Thanks
  8. I've enjoyed a lot of acts this year - Four Tet, Alanis, Maribou State, Chic, Black Uhuru, Rod Stewart, Prodigy so far,a nd still a good few I want to catch up on. I have to say the broadcast mix and sound quality has been consistency unbelievably good. I've done it myself on a smaller scale and It's a very tough job, especially on the fly, and they've suffered in previous years, but this year has been quite spectacular!
  9. Well there we have it! Thanks for the peek behind the curtain 😊
  10. It is... As an ex BBC sound recordist and Post Production manager I can assure you that, especially with current budget constraints, only the bare minimum number of staff (or contractors) are sent there. I never went on a beeb junket! In contrast, I remember when I was training; I did 3 months on Keeping Up Appearances in Kenilworth... We got pay, plus overtime for while we were there, plus travel allowance, meal allowance (even though there was location catering) and overnight allowance for being away from home, and hotel... I bought a motorbike with just my overnights! But it's not been like that for 30 years or so. My old department doesn't even exist anymore!
  11. Here we have a fantastic Glockenlang preamp, comprising Volume, Treble and Bass controls. Pull passive tone circuit activated from Push/Pull vol control. This was removed by my tech from another bass I got in a trade. If you use a twin pickup bass you will just need to obtain a suitable balance pot. The details: GLOCKENKLANG 2-band onboard preamp Active/passive switchable (at the volume push/pull) Treble-pot with +/- 18 dB@18 KHz in active mode, acting as classical high cut in passive mode Bass-pot with +/- 14 dB@40 Hz. Input-impedance (without Balance): 1,5 MOhm Frequency range: 20 Hz -20 KHz Power requirement: 9 volts/1,3 mA Min. installation depth: 28 mm (1.1″) Due to the high performance electronics, in flat position of the eq you can hear no difference between active and passive mode! £75 inc postage. Paypal (you pay fees) or bank transfer both fine. Please see my extensive positive feedback thread for assurance of a simple, honest transaction.
  12. Manic Mechanic - ZZ Top
  13. The Akai Headrush covers delay and tape delay effects, but is also a great (if simple) looper. Good condition (small wear spot on left hand side), velcro on bottom. Fully operational. £110 including UK postage (ONO) More info here: https://www.akaipro.com/e2-headrush.html

  14. Enjoyed Weezer (big warm p bass tone!), Rae, prodigy, Ezra collective, Nile playing greatest hits though he’s really getting on. Didn’t enjoy charlixcx, 1975, Rod (despite seeing my aunt on front row on bbc!), each to their own and plenty liked it. Some of these older acts fall into function band territory where the cheese takes over. It’s like they’re pretending to be their former self. Usual mix of good sound/bad sound and occasionally inaudible bass but it’s a festival! I’ll catch up on some others other the next few days.
  15. This! Even the dearest cable, whether speaker or instrument, will be the cheapest non-consumable item in your equipment. The truth is that if we started making Electric guitars and basses in the year 2000 instead of the late 1940s, we would never have chosen 1/4"jacks. For speakers, they have largely been replaced by Speakons , thank goodness. The reason? You can never tell the current rating of a 1/4" plug, and many are rated at 0.5 amp. That equate to 2 watts into 8 ohms or 1 watt into 4 ohms. If you read the Neutrik specs, they say "Current - depends on mating connector." Or, in plain English, depends on what cheapo crap you plug it into. As for the £15 speakON cable? Using an OEM 1.5mm cable and Neutrik or Rean connectors, I can do one for that price, but there will be a £3 postage charge. For £19 inc postage I can do neutrik/Rean speakON plus Sommer 2.5mm cable. Includes a lifetime warranty. You cannot get a decent set of strings for that. Would you trust your amp with anything else?
  16. The Rod set was perfect IMO, I've seen him live and he takes a few songs to warm up vocally, you get exactly what you'd expect and nothing less, he's of an era where you put on a show rather than walk around to a backing track.
  17. I remember seeing some tin foil special saying that glasto is the unspoken official BBC staff summer holiday - they take thousands of staff, mostly put up in hotels/bbs in the surrounding area for a week with days either side. This was based on the amount the BBC spend to have a presence (license payer funded of course) Vs how miniscule the viewing figures/indirect revenues are for their glasto contents. It's probably bs but I kinda believe it?
  18. BBE Opto Stomp Optical Compressor This is an early one with the blue led. It's in pretty good condition with a few marks from age and use. Works of a battery or a 9v PSU. Comes with original box and bits n bobs. They're on Fleabay for £150 odd but that's daft money so it's up here for £75.00

  20. This is a great little bit of kit, I have the Apogee Duet too and I can't justify owning two interfaces. Discontinued now, but it works without issue on both my elderly Macbook Pro and my newer M1 Air running iOs 14 (with a USB-C adaptor). Takes a 1/4 inch bass/gtr or an xlr input as well as the built-in mic, so it's ideal for recording - I've used it for online teaching as it's a great way of easily getting my voice and bass into Zoom. A fair few scratches on it and the plastic on the channel indicator has a couple of small cracks, but I've just plugged it in and everything works as it should. £60 securely packed and tracked to mainland UK addresses.
  21. This does a lot of stuff, similar in many ways to the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2. Here's what you get: • 7 x isolated DC outputs (5 are switchable 9V/12V, 2 have a sag control to emulate a dying battery and provide variable voltage from 4V-9V, but can also provide a normal 9V) • 1 x 9V AC output that can power a Whammy pedal (if you want/need a whammy pedal too then I'm open to offers!) • The whole unit is switchable 230v/115V if you're taking it abroad I'm including as many patch cables as I could find, including a doubler cable for powering 18V pedals (I used to run a bit Cali76 off this). Comes with box and manual. £50 securely packed and tracked to mainland UK addresses.
  22. It's a one-size-fits-all contraption manufactured by NS Design that connects to the EUB at the same point as the tripod mounting bolt, allowing you to 'wear' the bass and move around with it. It took a bit of time to get everything in the right place, but as a consequence it won't go on a stand. I was looking for a stand of some kind rather than leaving the instrument propped up in a corner.
  23. Forgot about Nova Twins (how could I?). Awesome, as usual...
  24. Today
  25. Yesterday I enjoyed Cymande (what bass? ACG headless?), Black Uhuru, St Vincent, Scissor Sisters and particularly, Getdown Services with their insanely catchy "Dog Dribblin'". Here at 20'30 in... https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m002fd6s/glastonbury-sunday-evening-live And even though I didn't want to, thinking it would be annoying music-as-product girlypop-pish, I also enjoyed Olivia Rodriguez' set. Great band, great stage-craft, decent songs and great overall production. Kids nowadays, eh? And I was a little disappointed with the Amyls' set - maybe because I'd given the Osees a good go and had a bit of a headache... I gave Rod a song to entertain me, just long enough to throw a bottle of piddle, but I was bored as soon as I saw the Vegas-alike set. And my Mrs insisted we gave CMAT another go... And while they all played well, and she sang excellently I still have the feeling that it's all a bit like that sign you sometimes see hanging in offices - "You Don't Have To Be Mad To Work Here But It Helps"; trying desperately hard to be wacky, different and fun but ultimately failing completely.
  26. She brought a lot of energy and her band duly followed. They were absolutely on it and giving it their all, the best performance of the weekend for me but still plenty to catchup on. I’m a loyle carner fan anyway but found his set very raw and intimate (in a good way). The bassist was playing what appeared to be a Fender Ultra which sounded great.
