  2. Here we have a 1977 Fender precision in Olympic white This was a one owner from new which I got after he passed, been well looked after and all original right down to the screws and covers No Fender case as it had seen better days but the one pictured will come with it At some stage the pots were changed out for more modern ones but fortunately he kept the originals which are now installed Frets are very good, the body has now gone a nice yellow colour which is common for OW guitars Apart from the dinks at the bottom the body is in good shape, neck is true and no dents at the back, truss rod working as it should Weight is just shy of 4.4 Kg's Nut width is 42mm Pickups dated to 77, pots dated 76 and serial on the back of the plate matches the headstock It currently has rounds but I might see if I can get some flats for it if you prefer Lovely dark board and good action.. Any questions please get in touch and thanks for looking
  3. Bass now £1200 for one week. I’ve got my eye on something but if I miss it the bass will go back to original price.
  4. Charlie Sheen - King's X
  5. More or less of a faff than deleting the entire thread and recreating it with the correct picture loaded first? I have absolutely no coding knowledge, but I would have thought that this locked process of the first picture you upload being the thumbnail with zero ability to amend would be a process that could be changed to allow for a seller to pick the thumbnail they want to display?
  6. So many bass makers are gone recently, Modulus, Pedulla, Vigier, Status, and now G&L. Myself, I don't see any of the newer makers as offering worthwhile alternatives to what those established brands offered. I know Wal are still going and turning out better basses than ever but last I heard it was a six year wait, so in practise you can't really buy a bass from them either.
  7. Who Are You? - The Who
  8. Delivery within reason possible….
  9. Genuinely think this should be in a player’s tonal chain. Took out on a Jazz/Funk gig and it was smooth as butter!! Almost has me changing my mind…..just too much a luxury with the other stuff that I own and use!!
  10. Gigged one the other day! Shame that they’re not getting as much use and love as deserved 😖
  11. To the OP is this for covers or originals? There is a distinct difference between the ways for both venues and bands operate for each type of music.
  12. Stranger in a Strange Land - Iron Maiden
  13. How do they rate in power compared to other amps ? The PF500 was underpowered and the PF800 was about as loud as a 500w amp ! If they are true and loud to their ratings I would be tempted to get the V3 if it’s loud enough into 4ohms for loud rock I use a MarkBass LM IV at present
  14. Ill have to check mine tonight. Mine is a 1998 4003 model
  15. Good man! Great video too, love the Richie’s band.
  16. Dammit getting all nostalgic and bought a Tribute sunburst Jazz... And the video that did it for me...
  17. It does currently appear to be difficult to get gigs as a jazz quartet, except at certain specialist venues (usually in Oxford) and then there's a long waiting list to get in. Where other pubs might want jazz it's usually only as background music during meals etc. and telling them we play this sort of thing (apologies, don't have a good recording of our interpretation) puts them off. Outside Oxford the pubs do indeed seem to prefer duos. I have noticed a particular local duo being booked for "jazz matinees" etc. in local pubs even though they are really folk-type performers.
  18. Lots of love for Marc and his bass kit, shame that we can't get hold of it any longer
  19. I've gone through a few phases over the years. I used to go for a very mids-heavy sound and quite heavy-handed technique to try and cut through in a band with two guitarists with Dual Rectifiers. It sounded decent, but a bit boxy and it peaked out a lot. Then I decided to go back and re-engineer everything and try and get something closer to the Tony Levin sound, with my own twist. So I started using a moderate amount of compression (I used to avoid it if possible), scooped out everything around 800Hz and started playing with a much lighter touch to "play" the compressor, so the bottom end bloomed out more, but still kept definition in the high mids and treble so the sound cuts through. A bit more mids, and a little wash of DG-style distortion gets added for when the guitarist goes off to solo to fill things out a bit. I'm also not averse to a bit of delay/reverb, and love me a bit of ambient/shimmer reverb. It took a while to get to this point though, lots of experimentation with playing style, basses, effects, gain staging and so on. It's the sort of thing that only really comes with time and lots of listening.
  20. Lots of love for Trace Elliot here, its a shame the new offerings didn't have more of a nod back to the old times with the graphic, glowing green lights etc etc
  21. We've sold quite a few of these now and people are really impressed! A great, versatile amp
  22. R.I.P G&L, sad times indeed!
  23. I know, that is what I meant - it uses the first picture you upload, there is no mechanism to change that after the fact. As far as I can see it would have to be manually edited to work, but I have never done it or looked at what needs to be done, I would imagine that in some way it would be a faff.
  24. Here's a nice jazz example - makes a change from the many notes we usually have to play: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5bq_vRMskM&list=RDj5bq_vRMskM&start_radio=1 There's a faster version with violins &c. which is better known, but I think I prefer the one above: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ER8Q504Vro8&list=RDER8Q504Vro8&start_radio=1&pp=oAcB
