  3. Vincent - Don McLean
  4. I think most people who have been gigging for a while have played to the one man + dog at some point (one spent the evening reading a newspaper!). My personal worst was a wedding where we played to the bride, groom, maid of honour and 3 or 4 other people they managed to drag along after an hour of phoning around. We didn't ask the details but can only assume it wasn't a popular joining of families. You can't take things personally. You can only do so much. You can't always predict the situation at the time you book the gig. All you can do is make sure it's on people's horizon (create Facebook events a month beforehand, followed by a photo post a day or two in advance as a reminder). Some venues are great at plugging what's on, and are usually successful. Other venues just don't seem to have a clue and expect a crowd to materialise on the night with no notice. Then there's also random factors - weather, sports events. Oh, and one of our USPs is that we DON'T do Dakota, Brightside, Oasis, etc. We're 70s "dad rock" and proud of it 😂 And wear shorts when it's hot 😜
  5. Yes, you're right, I can see the T of logo now you mention it.
  6. Yeh, that looks like it! A few differences, but could be an older model. It is ridiculously light though, like lighter than a guitar light.
  7. It's not just me then...
  8. A mixed bag. We had our second practice at a different place. The first room we got was all good and we were pleased with it. Today, the room was quite a bit smaller and just so bass heavy. Guitars and bass. We all had to change things up. So, not the best from that perspective. Did get a new song finalised in time for our gig a week on Saturday though. I love having a multi effects. I needed a variation on a sound to really cut through on one section. Ok, load up a mid booster. Bosh! Oh, I need something ambient and weird? Wah with delay and reverb, but the expression pedal is also moving around the feedback and delay times. Bosh! The sky is the limit!
  9. The first preset. There are demos of it in the MXR synth pedal thread.
  10. Will grab some more pictures when I’m at the practice room where it’s kept but yes orange bag included!:)
  11. Any more amp pics and condition ? Orange bag included ?
  12. Different logo to most of them, assume it's an older one? Another one like yours here with better pics: https://reverb.com/uk/item/45374901-secondhand-tanglewood-rebel-4-string-bass-trans-purple My old guitarist had one of these and it weighed a ton for the size of the thing, actually made it quite unwieldy so count yourself lucky you got a light one!
  13. Already done and working.
  14. I remember when that pub was The Case Is Altered. Used to doo their pub quiz occasionally when I lived in Sutton.
  15. Tanglewood Rebel? Think you can see part of the logo on the body beneath the sticker.
  16. Boring midi problems aside, I'm interested to know the current progress on implementing portamento/glide on audio trigger. For me that is still the number one feature limitation (as opposed to quality of life issue) of the FI4.
  17. Thank you that was wonderful. Really enjoyed it
  18. I have found there are a lot of bands out there, and a lot of them are incredibly average and will play for very little. Often live music can be a draw for pubs but equally I have seen bands clear a room, so it’s hard for a venue to keep paying out big sums when there could be no benefit at all. A half decent solo vocalist with backing tracks is going to sound better quality than a rubbish band, cost the venue less and take up less room. Ultimately it seems like less of a gamble. In genuinely don’t believe many people care about the live music experience at a pub level (which is my level) I think a lot of the time a band just happens to be somewhere they like drinking, it’s not the reason they are there.
  19. The reverse P sounds so much better in a PJ setup too - plus it’s Nordstrand pups! I struggle with the string spacing on these, which is a shame cos they’re blinding basses especially for the money! It’s still possibly tempting tho Just a question - in passive mode is there a tone control (like traditional passive tone control on a fender etc) I know some Ibanez’s the treble works as the tone in passive.

  21. Hi all, I've picked this up as a doer upper. Needs a thorough (to say the least) clean, a new pot/stalk, and all the stickers removing. And a strap button. And a set up. Does anyone know what it is? I was thinking a bass collection, or perhaps an sx? But the D tuning peg is higher than A on the other side? Its a shallow but wide ish neck. Confused. Feels so so light, seriously the lightest I've ever had, and sounds very nice.
  22. So first rehearsal tonight with the ric and to be honest i was a bit underwhelmed. I ditched my pedals years ago and go straight into an Ashdown Spyder head into a Barefaced 1x15. The P gets a lovely plumby bottom with a slight breakup, the mids are throaty and growly and the top is open but beefy. The ric was thin, hollow sounding and got lost easily in the mix. Now granted it does need a set up so ill hold judgement but a quick play with pickup heights didnt really help, the neck pup is maxed height wise and i just wasnt getting enough beef. Ill try again after the set up but im wondering if ill maybe need a pre amp pedal for the ric to get a similar beef that the p gives? Im also aware that ric v p is apples v oranges. I just expected a bit more body and timbre
  23. It’s a really annoying Windows limitation - it only allows a single USB-MIDI device to be active at a time.
  24. Hey thanks Paddy, I have been looking at that one 😆
  25. Hmm I had no idea about that! A strange and annoying quirk that seems like it would cause all sorts of problems. Can't remember if it has been open or not tbh. Will have another go, thanks for flagging that!
