SGFX Beta (MK1 or MK2), whilst more coloured than the Spark, it just sounds perfect and it’s so reactive to your playing

Agent 00Soul started following TC RH750 worst amp ever
-
I have a RH450 and RS212 speaker cab that I bought the year they came out, years before the RH750 came along (or I probably would have bought that). I guess that was around 2010/11 and never had a problem. I basically played through it several times a week until Covid. It transversed North America multiple times. It only broke once and sounded fantastic in dreampop, garage rock, and cinematic bands once I dialled in the EQ. It could even hold it's own in what had to be one of the loudest bands NYC - we played at near-My Bloody Valentine levels. I would pull it out of storage and use it again if I returned to playing music. Maybe yours was a lemon?

I just preordered one from Guitar Guitar since they’ve said they’ll have it in stock on the 8th September. https://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/product/250415439876008--darkglass-anagram-bass-amp-modeller-and-multi-effects-processor

I fitted a Classic P to my Aerodynalike, but it is a tad on the bright side for me. Their Duke seems to be popular on here, has anyone compared them?

Thanks Tony. There were words that look familiar there. But that is not where my skillset lies, sadly. But the conversation has started! And that is the important bit. I know that G&L do something..... capacitor across one coil.. something.... with their L1000 pickup which provides a HEFTY amount of grunt. Is anyone doing this kind of thing commercially as a drop in that I have missed? A combination of that G&L option on a Jazz could be interesting. Obv, it would not do the G&L thang, but it could be an interesting flavour. Also the Audere thang would be great.

Well if you want a J bass……….keep checking in as I have a piece of walnut and some elm with possibly a curly spalted sycamore drop top earmarked for some Js.
-
Jim Marshall did use some of the Fender circuits at the start, Fender's were based on the RCA sample circuits and the later Marshall's took their power amp designs from the Mullard Audio books.

A two piece Swamp Ash body from a really nice straight grain length. This is one of two I shaped a while back but don’t think I’ll get around to working on both for a while. Another fretted bass I’ve made from the same wood stock sounds really good and sustains very well. £75 plus U.K. post The pictures also show the weight/dimensions and a mock up of a neck (not mine!) to give some representation of a final look.

What's In My Bag? - Anthrax
-
Thanks! And same, first became aware of the Pill in early 2020 but just wasn't able to get a preorder in until this batch First impressions are that it's very cool, especially with long drawn out synths/pads etc for groove based ducking. Nice with reverb for volume swell type effects too, but you have to nail your timing so the note doesn't stick out before/after the ducking

Bassbooksbikes started following Hello from Somerset.

Hi Hello from Glossop and the High Peaks. Absolute beginner in my mid fifties. Wondering how many minutes a day I should be practising and how long it might take me to get some proficiency. My left fingers feel like sausages but been waiting a while to start playing. Just completed a Masters so now I have time to devote to this odyssey. Currently trying to play a Yamaha RBX 270, when in the right hands, plays beautifully.

MrDinsdale started following Embarrassing rookie errors….

I spent a week practicing ace of spades to get it up to speed for a low-key birthday bash, finally got it up to tempo and solid. Started playing and all was good, felt great, everyone kicked in and I realised I was in the wrong key… I'd been practicing it in EADG but decided to tune down to Eb as it felt better to play but totally reverted to playing it half a step down. Everyone was really drunk apart from me thankfully so don't think anyone noticed 🤣

I was depping last weekend. Played a very basic tune with bass coming in on F. I came in on C and played the riff in C. Embarassing. Especially as i think it was because I've been playing 4 string a lot recently and going back to my 5 string i simply got the string wrong. Such a basic and amateur mistake to make.

@Steve Browning That sounds like a good solution that will have the most positive effect on everyone concerned. It's tricky breaking up a band but it sounds like you found the right way to go about it.
