ordered a Lekato WS-70 wireless unit from AliExpress, under £16, what had I got to lose? I got to the checkout and the price was £8.30, I thought I'd got a new customer discount. The unit arrived today and its a HOHIYO A8, very flimsy but it works, but very dodgy practices, the original picture shows a Lekato but the check out picture (I've just checked) shows the Hohiyo, I shall complain but I'm not holding my breath

New Retirement Bass - Guild Chris Hillman Starfire
Grahambythesea replied to rubis's topic in Bass Guitars
Love it! For the short time Chris Hillman was in the Byrds he was very influential. One of my favourite bands of all time. He was a mandolin player and not always a Guild Player. He also played a Precision and later in a come back a Stingray. But the Guild is as iconic as McGuinn’s Rickenbacker 12. -

All those points, looks really uncomfortable. I hope it fits you.

Joyo Scylla + Tidal wave sounds fine, if you want cheap. The sound is innthe warmer end. The Spectradrive may be better for getting a bit more "aggression" to the sound which cuts better in the mix as it beside a really good one-knob compression (and tubedrive) also has a really well thought out 4 band tone control. I have experimented a bit with a Zoom MS pedal which (as other multieffects) tend to gain a good conveniency score. Each of these three have a sonic character of their own. The Zoom also run on battery where the other two depend on a 9V supply.

An excellent choice for those James Last and Acker Bilk tunes.

If it's possible to push the pole pieces down a few mm, you can sit neodymium button magnets on top. It may sound dodgy but it works absurdly well. So well that putting a neodymium button on the bottom of each pole piece may sound better.

Aren't US prices VAT excluded? Local taxes + VAT = a lot more.

Trades - X Touch Universal, maybe Alto TS215. Great bass in good condition, comes with hard case. Short scale. Not a heavy bass. Plays well. Not really any damage to speak of. There’s a little bit at the top of the headstock (photographed) but looks much worse than it actually is. I’ve removed the strap lock pins and replaced them with the originals that were odd when I got it. The case is old but fully function and all the clasps work. Can post at buyers expense or can be collected from BB22SH Any questions please ask.

Electro-Harmonix Clone Theory Vintage Chorus Pedal NYC Made 70’s/80’s This is the one made famous in the 80’s by musicians including Peter Hook, John McGeoch and again later by Kirk Cobain. You can get sweeping chorus, subtle vibrato, to mad flange and synth like sounds from this unit. It’s a hard wired mains unit and the casing has plenty of dings and touch ups to the paint. It works perfectly and sounds great. These are quite rare now. I’ve owned two and this is the one that is all original. It’s an old pedal and like most vintage EH gear a bit noisy but it’s not a particular issue for live gigs.
