Selling a couple of sets of used Elites flatwound strings, previously fitted to a P bass (cut 4 in-line). These strings have a similar tone to GHS Precision Flats (warm with prominent mids) but with slightly lower tension thanks to the round core (medium tension overall). They're also a bit smoother than the GHS flats. Ideal if you like classic flatwound tone with a comfortable, supple feel. One set has only been fitted for a few days and is still fresh. £30 The other set has been fitted for a while and have fully mellowed. Filling and drilling holes for tuning heads

Tuner screws are only to stop the tuners from spinning, so no huge loads. If it was a bridge or neck screw, or the tuner post itself, then it's a different story - but for tuner screws you can just use a matchstick and some wood or super glue, trim it flush with a sharp knife or cutters and drill for the new screw. -
The best cases in the world can no longer be manufactured in the UK. I have a bad feeling that this may be a weather vane for the rest of British industry.

My Lowden came to me in pristine condition. One careful owner. And then me. Same issue you have - cedar top with a thin finish. But that is a big part of why it sounds so wonderful, as you’re also finding. After trying to polish out some of the earlier scratches I’ve just learned to live with it. Plus, there’s only one reason any instrument ends up looking this way - because it’s been well loved and often played. -
You don’t get more ‘80s than headless basses ! (Well maybe metal pointy basses ) Nothing wrong with the cricket bats , but wouldn’t you consider a full bodied Hohner Jack? Not sure if you can get left handed ones .

I had a couple of BTBs back in the day - a black 405QM was my main bass for a long time and I also had a blue 406QM. I never considered them to be uncomfortable in that way, and I've had various guitars over the years which I certainly did (an absolutely lovely-sounding PRS CE was the very worst offender and had to go back) so it's not that I just don't notice it as 'a thing'. It's possible that they've changed the shape of the BTB since I owned mine, but the photos of newer ones look very familiar.

I can’t comment personally. My generation (and the only time I have been in a band) there were lots of local bands and lots of live music in pubs. People in general had less of an aspirational lifestyle. They went to the pub to watch mates play and occasionally to London. Most guys I know in bands now struggle to get a younger crowd and play to the grey hairs and no hairs. As for social media - mixed success. Clicks don’t equal revenue is the feedback I get. They are not in it to be social media stars.

Your final post may contain a solution or course of action, but as others have said, leave the thread open for those who come after you to have their conversation and suggest further actions that are relevant to them. The only threads you should close are For Sale threads when the item has sold. . . . but again, leave the ad, photos, correspondence etc in place for the future reference of others.

The world is flooded with mediocrity on Social Media. The bands that know how to use social media get people to their gigs. Sponsored posts targeted at the town you're going to be playing in for a start. Playing loads of gigs of the same material in your local area because band members don't want to travel is not making the most of your band, and having the same bands play the same venues isn't going to make your venue attractive to an audience looking for fresh bands.

I wonder if it did work. Ireland (and every thing Irish) became really fashionable for a while, largely due to Fontaines DC and a couple of in crowd actors. For a while I was no longer the guy drinking the old man pint. France never seemed to match the UK success in music despite funding. It’s not that I al against this idea. I just think that there are bigger issues to tackle and have lost all faith in big government and central control of funding.

None of the above. . . . ! So you've got a small budget and an 80's cover band. Who cares what gear they played in the 80's. . . . actually for most bass players it was what they played in the 70's, and what they all went on to play in the 90's. You've already got the best bass, you don't need to make it 80's, whatever that means. You don't need to spend anything. Your budget should be safe. What worked for them, me and my guess, you, is "One bass to play them all." ps If you really have to blow your budget put a set of Bartolini pickups in your Precision. That is what a lot of bass players did in the 80's. . . me included.

In an ideal world mininum wages would be linked to a companies profitability or at least all employees should be guaranteed a bonus based on companies results. No more giving directors and shareholders a preference on dividends.

Well, when I was young we saw the bigger groups at the Portsmouth Guildhall, but they were very cheap and affordable compared to how much we had, so it was actualy the same price as going to the pub, which obviously we did quite often, because that was cheap. There would often be a band in the pub, or one of the smaller venues. None of those things are that cheap any more. But then, it was the status of those groups, you see iron maiden / scorpions / Dio etc, they weren't mega legacy groups at hte time, they were just the normal groups
