  1. Past hour
  2. I actually have a Police gig end of next week, so it'll get a good thrashing then
  3. Yes, an FM synth is on the road map for one of the two remaining partitions. The other partition could be more effects or a sample-based engine.
  4. I picked up a 63 500/1 in 1978 when, at the height of punk, they were deeply unfashionable as a link to the past and no-one wanted them. I paid £25 for a good condition with original tweed case and leather strap, used it for about 4 years in a wmc band and sold it in 83 for £100... and regretted it about 10 years later.
  5. Yes I was spit balling though. PEEK seems to be the preference.
  6. Well the: - better display; - arpeggiator (which we use on a couple of our cover tracks as @Kiwihas also mentioned); plus historically: - MUCH better "tracking" / lack of glitchiness; - more compact form factor Are usps that have made the SY-200 much more useful for me as a gigging musician. Sure YMMV etc. Given that FI are now saying the tracking is much improved on v4 and are offering a more compact form factor, the very significantly better synth tones the FI offers, make it a very attractive proposition. But for some reason I thought it now also had an arpeggiator function given that it does so much else, but my bad for misunderstanding that. The SY-200 is the only programmable bass synth pedal with arpeggiator I'm aware of (unless the C4 also provides this)?
  7. I'm interested in those Nordy J shaped 51s as well. I love the EMGs in my Sandberg but I also fancy a change, just for no reason at all!
  8. I don’t think that’s really fair. People (including me) have politely suggested that over 300 years of technique might be worth studying, if only to avoid busting your hands up. Playing with low tension strings is fair enough. You don’t really need the “conventional” technique (note I didn’t say correct) but if someone new to DB tries that with Spiros or something else they could really hurt themselves. It’s friendly advice from people who’ve have made mistakes. I’ve suffered with sore hands and injuries from poor technique and solving it has been a revelation. I’d say advice is delivered in the same way your build thread has inspired others to approach restoring double basses on a sympathetic and professional way. Anyway, good playing HP and hope you’re enjoying the gigs.
  9. Have A Cuppa Tea - Kinks
  10. Mine only goes as far as September this year and all of that already happened, plus The Donald has become a Buddhist and renounced all worldly possessions
  11. Whole Lottery Rosie — AC/DC
  12. (Win, Place or Show) She's a Winner - The Intruders
  13. What about FM, is that at all feasible? Especially a 6-operator setup which mimicked those iconic Yamaha algorithms would give access to a very different sonic palette, some very handy bass patches in there. (not to mention that unique 'gong' Synclavier patch at the start of Thriller).
  14. Malcolm Foster, known for his work with The Pretenders, joined Simple Minds as a session bass player in 1989 and remained with the band until 1995. Simple Minds - See The Lights | Malcolm Foster
  15. That is stunning. If I had the right bass to trade, I’d be all over this. Just got an SR1300 and love it and currently after a 6 string, so this would be perfect. Anyway, GLWTS ☺️
  16. Nice one, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed, if you are I’ll give you the money myself 😁
  17. Great set up. Ran exactly the same rig for a few years pre covid. GLWTS
  18. I didn’t doubt it for a second.
  19. Good result 👍
  20. Hi What's the nut width on this?
  21. I found one for sale at Andertons Ex Demo interest free over 9 months trigger pulled
  22. Hi, great i need first a NECK pickup with the 51 P specifications, 4 poles only) but in the shape of a neck Jazz Bass pickup…to get close to the P51 sound….. and yes, it would be interesting to have also a matching bridge PU, ( with 4 polepieces only ) if i would later use the bass with both pickups together ….as it has 2 routings for jazz bass already
  23. Yep there is a trend amongst some double bass players on here to be 'gatekeepers' ... 'you must suffer to gain enlightenment like we have'.
  24. Maybe put out a wanted ad here, see how it goes, you never know someone might be moving one on
  25. Orange Supercrush 100 combo 1x 12 100w guitar amp Twin Channel Footswitch Cover Loud enough to gig with but quiet enough for home use too Collection from Needham Market or meet up possible if not too far away All as new condition
  26. There’s something I’ve got my eye on so, £50 off but if that item sells the price will go back up. Great bass in good condition, comes with hard case. Short scale. Not a heavy bass. Plays well. Not really any damage to speak of. There’s a little bit at the top of the headstock (photographed) but looks much worse than it actually is. I’ve removed the strap lock pins and replaced them with the originals that were odd when I got it. The case is old but fully function and all the clasps work. Can post at buyers expense or can be collected from BB22SH Any questions please ask.
