Something a little different. This is how I use a bass guitar and some rather lovely effects.

Ah man, that’s awful. I quite liked the Manchester store - in fact, I was due a trip there on Saturday. Eldest has nearly finished his exams and wants an acoustic skinny string to celebrate. youngest wanted to stare longingly at the Mike McCready strat. But obviously, that’s just a disappointment for us - very sad for the staff.

This one was a bit of light relief for me but it's gorgeous! This is Dave Holland's complete performance of the tune 'The Color Of Iris' from the 2013 'Prism' album. Beautiful. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/the-color-of-iris-dave-holland/

Really? I've had a couple of sets of LaBella white tapewounds before now and they're the most flexible strings I've ever used by a country mile. They make TI Jazz flats look stiff.
-
I wouldn't raise your hopes up. It looks like they're pitching the Stadiums [Stadia!] at a price level above their HX equivalents. Rather than making the HXs undesirably obsolete, I think it'll just reinforce a market for something which offers 90% of the experience for 33-50% of the price. I think we'll only see a real change once the Stadium Stomps come out, if those were to be aggressively priced for the larger market. Note: this is my uninformed ad-hoc reckon. I am not John Maynard Keynes.
-
It is also worth noting they did a shoulder strap for the NXT - looked a bit like a big black banana and like it had been made from bits of pram handle. I bought one, tried it, it felt a bit weird, so never ended up using it. I think it is in the loft somewhere.....

Connections to pmtonline.co.uk now timing out, sadly.

I remember about 9 years ago I left my tripod at a gig and it took the venue about 3 weeks to find it so had to buy another whilst I assumed it was lost. I seem to remember that was about £100 back then.....

It has never worked for me on either the Intel based Mac I had when I first bought my Helix or the M-series that I use now. The release notes for 3.8 firmware do say that there is a problem with retaining the global settings on M-series Macs, and TBH I have never looked at them for previous updates, so I don't know if it was supposed to work before on Intel based Macs. All I know is that it has never worked for me, since I have been making changes to the factory default global settings.

Yes indeed - I owned a black one.

I'm just sitting here hoping this will tank the used price of the HX line. I'm GASing for a Stomp XL as a backup/grab&go unit.

Sad for the staff, sad for us musicians, sad all round really.

As I said on the other thread: There will probably be trickle down to smaller/cheaper devices in the same way there was from the original Helix. The teasers have left me felling rather underwhelmed. I don't need pretty pictures of the amps and cabs they add nothing to my user experience. Also a lot of touch screens don't always work for me, so unless all the those functions can be easily replicated from the other device controls that will be a major disadvantage. It appears also to be aiming more towards (more realistic?) modelling. That doesn't interest me in the slightest. Firstly because I don't know what most of the devices they are modelling are supposed to sound like and secondly because all I want are things that make my guitar and bass sound like how I want. How the device gets there is of no importance. On the other hand if Line6 have decided to include MIDI-triggered full ADSR filters and gates (as well as keeping everything from the current V3.8 Helix), then I'll be first in line for one! Additionally: For me the amp and can models are the least interesting thing about the current Helix. I currently use two, both of which are guitar amp/combo models, on a handful of Presets where they are used either for the drive sounds or because the EQ frequencies work in the context of the overall band mix. For the vast majority of my Presets I simply don't bother because generally adding an amp and/or cab sim makes my bass sound worse.

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?

75% of Bluesfunk band coming on nicely. So bass drums and new vox are working pretty well. However, our guitar player has terrible trouble a) not playing all the time b) not doing out-of-rhythm unimaginative blues noodles when we're doing funky syncopated stuff. He just gets his head down and neither listens to or watches the rest of us... And despite months of suggesting stuff for him to play along to he rarely bothers. Seems obsessed with finding some sort of magical Funk Formula - I've sent him Bootsy's one but he appears to have missed the point entirely, that you've got to feel it and if you don't, you won't funk! And being in the middle of nowhere means not many guitarists available, plus he's a bit vulnerable... -

Very impressive. Dripping in high quality. I like green although it's not a popular colour on the shelf. This is a really nice green. It has enough tones and contrast to bear the lively colour. Marvellous

⁹I have an audition on Sunday with a band who are heavily influenced by Teenage Fanclub so having a good listen. Great bass tones and the bass, while fairly simple really drives things. I also have a bit of Snooze lined up. They've been described as happy Meshuggah. If you don't know Meshuggah, they're an amazing band but will leave you needing therapy.
