  3. Sterling Stingray Shortscale This is the newest version and comes with roasted maple neck with rosewood board and custom single ply scratchplate and original white scratchplate. Gotoh string retainer. The neck was originally a maple board one but it got damaged so I swapped it round with another Sterling Stingray I bought. I think the red looks great with the rosewood board. It’s very light at 3.6kgs. Scale length 30”. Excellent condition and the neck is lovely. I’m going back to long scale playing so selling off a few short scales I have accumulated. No trades UK pickup preferred postage will be around £20 if required. I have the original box.
  4. I always wished I didn't get a cinder red pulse 1 when they came out.
  5. I guess whoever manufactures for Warwick, I don't know if that helps matters...
  6. (The big brown truck is delayed until Monday, nothing to see here …)
  7. Keep the foto flame ( if possible )and get it refinished/ lacquered by David Wilson. He sprayed my Atelier Z and it was superb.
  8. After a few weekends off from the workshop we made some progress today! The fret board was machined with the channels for the fibre optic side dots in the underside of the board. The headstock face was then machined with the fretboard clamped in place to get the smooth transition 👌. Tomorrow we’ll add the side dots then run the fibre optics 🙌
  9. Hi. Les Dawson knew how to play the funny wrong note and there are also some beautiful wrong notes. They're called add9, but they are often add2 but still called add9. add2 is much easier to understand. Start with C major C, E, G. Now count up the C major scale and stop at the 2nd note, so 1=C, 2=D stop. D. add the 2nd note in the C major scale to the C major chord and we have C, D, E, G. Inspiring and smoothy vibes. Where does the 9th come from. If you count up the C major scale to the next D, it's in 9th place. That's all I'm prepared to say about that. It's a friendly vibe in major, and beautiful in minor. Try this. It feels odd at first but you might grow to like it. Playing the bass and singing, swap between these two harmonies. Sing = D, Bass = C Sing = C, Bass = G♯ The first harmony could be major or minor. Using what we know from bass having the power to change chords, if we stack all the notes in, we can find the relative minor of the add9 by lowering the bass 3 semitones for major, or 4 for minor. Mind blowing, but beautiful. - find the relative minor of the add9, and know what you're talking about. Power to the bass player.
  10. That ones all yours. Wrong colour for me
  11. We spoke to Nicks sister today, Nick family are putting on a memorial concert in Peterborough on the 7th September and wants to draw the raffle then so I’d imagine we’ll start selling tickets 4-6 weeks before then
  12. I used to enjoy doing that, but we lost our keyboard player so we had to drop it.
  13. Beautiful excellent condition Zoot Funkmeister 32 (asking a bit less than what I paid for it) Custom build 32” scale precision bass Roasted maple neck and fretboard Hausell precision pickup. Lightweight hipshot tuners. Drop D Xtender. Lightweight at just under 3.4kg Can’t get on with anything accept jazz necks so the only trades of interest would be a EBMM Sterling and maybe a G&L SE-2. Must be light weight though i.e. under 4kg if possible.

  14. Me again. This never sold, then I had a baby, and now I'm slowly getting back to reality 😁 So I'm bumping this with a note to any potential buyers; if you're in the UK and you're willing to be patient, I am willing to hop across the border and post this from Northern Ireland to avoid any import duty etc.
  15. I'm looking to buy a great Jazz Bass because Im about to sell my house and be mortgage free . Yay.!!.. I was looking for any opinions on these two. Ive owned a 1996 MIJ non export 75 and it was fantastic so I dig that maple/maple jazz bass sound. But I've never played a Moon JJ4 so I'm curious as to 1. what are the necks like on a Moon,.,I prefer a shallow C shape. 2. does a Moon JJ4 sound like a 70s jazz bass. I'm aware Moon slanted the neck pickup to give a fuller sound on the E string and the early JJ4s have a bartolini pre amp and pickups.. Any experience and thoughts from someone who has owned both or just the Moon is much appreciated. I would be looking for a 90s JJ4.
  16. Thank you, I’d forgotten to mention it has the vintage stylee reverse tuners - I’ve amended the post now👍
  17. And here we have Patitucci's complete bass part for the tune 'Tonight' from the same album. Listen to Gloria Estafan's phrasing and then go back and listen to Patitucci's. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/tonight-dave-grusin/
  18. I'll be going along for the setup and soundcheck but after that i'll be heading home as i'm not part of the band and it's a small wedding so i'd be pretty conspicuous (also i've got a kitchen to start painting tomorrow afternoon) the desk will be sitting next to the guitarist so if there are any issues he should be able to sort it fairly quickly, they don't want any foldback so that will hopefully help with reducing the chances of feedback, i might set up a second mic on a stand as well and balance between the two, the player might also object to the mic in a towel method so a mic on a stand might end up the answer anyway. Thank you for all the suggestions and tips, I'll try and report back once it's all over. Matt
  19. Neither will mine - I don't know why they quote an initial ridiculous and vague ETA, but mine are arriving on Tuesday - just under 3 weeks since I ordered them. If I need strings in a hurry, I got to my local shoppie anyway and pay full price for my lack of planning
  20. That's lovely. The AVII 60s P is 1960. Differences AFAICS: Tighter fingerboard radius (7.5"), marginally narrower nut (by 0.5mm), 4-ply pickguard with steel backplate, 1960 pickups. Aldo reverse tuners, not sure if thec63 has those.
  21. @Bill Fitzmaurice, here's an attempt at providing you with the dimensions. I'm not an expert at this by any stretch, but if you need anything else just let me know. Thanks ever so much for going out of your way to help me with this project.
  22. True, of course. Ian Klos asked me on a phone call about the headstock. I was diplomatic in that I said that it might put some people off. I suggested maybe a 2+2 arrangement in the more Status or Ibanez type shape. Or something along those lines.
  23. I dont need one of those. Every time i play is a master class in how not to play!!! I can only wish i was at that level of ability
