  1. Past hour
  2. I'm going to take a look at the V3 as I'm coming to the realisation that the Ampeg sound(s) are more me Enjoy your new rig
  3. If anyone is sitting on the fence about this, I can say that it's the best amp I've ever used. I regularly gig mine as you can see in that thread. I picked mine up from the Amp Hospital yesterday after a repair to some damage caused by someone else's abuse/idiocy and one of the leading amp techs of all time (IYKYK) told me how good an amp it is and how beautifully designed and made it is. They're very very good with "ordinary" basses but with Spectors they absolutely kick @$$ and take names. Also, yer man @Berserker is a absolute gent and top basschatter.
  4. I am out. Gf bought me my old MTD Super 5 I had a couple of years ago and regretted selling. It doesn't count as unsolicited as we'd swung by BassBros to pick up my Dad's unsold guitar and I spotted it and went OMG.
  5. Compression a lot of the time Octaver Occasional bit of dirt, delay and reverb on certain songs/parts
  6. **for sale again**
  7. When my gigbag handle on my NXT5 bag snapped and dumped it on the floor, I asked the guys where I bought it about a hard case (I think it was Bass Direct, but I can't remember). They mentioned someone had used a hard plastic ski case for one. I imagine they meant like a tube of some description, but I never followed it up to see if it would work. I just stopped carrying by the shoulder strap with the new bag.
  8. Indeed.. It's a Bryston! I used to work with a chap whose hobby was collecting old caps and resistors (!) - he had a room full of 'em. He was offered a surprising amount of money (£hundreds) for a few 50s oil/paper capacitors by a high end "hifi" valve amp manufacturer. He turned it down; he just wanted his preciousss!
  9. Unused 'creme' 4 string Jazz replacement pickups with all mounting hardware & instructions. Price includes postage.
  10. Let's Roll - Neil Young
  11. I've set up an alert on t'Bay. I'll give it a few months, then probably end up buying a new one. It's a curse.
  12. Great fun to groove along to.
  13. Yes, it’s in Bass Mode. From what I can see it’s just 5-A&C. 5-A in particular. Doesn’t sound like an effect, it literally cuts out completely. Silent strings. As I say, I’d be happy to never use those patches, but I’m a bit concerned after what Roland UK said. I’m trying to wean myself off Amazon for several reasons. I’m going to return this one & get one from Roland UK.
  14. As new, unused micro-adjustable string-spacing bridge. Beautiful piece of kit. Mounts using 3 of the five mounting holes on most Fender P and J basses. Note: does NOT have holes for 'string-thru' stringing. Needs 1/16 (imperial) allen keys to adjust saddle screws (not suppled) Price includes postage
  15. So tyred. Ozzy
  16. I have been testing various settings of my newly acquired Citronic CASA 10BA and Alto TS408. The sub has two Xover settings 80hz and 120hz, while the TS408 have three 80hz, 100hz & 120hz. I agree totally with @Phil Starr conclusions, using different HPF settings on sub and tops creates a gap that is clearly audible. My testing suggests that I will be using sub at 120hz and tops at 120hz at our next rehearsal. So far I'm really pleased with this simple setup of Flow-8 managing Beat-Buddy & 2 x Vox into the CASA 10BA & Alto TS408 for our trio.
  17. Sorry late to the party but I have designed a product that I'm looking to market in the near future. I'm busy getting a patent but it is 100% guaranteed to inhibit any resonant frequency issues. I know many of us have more than one bass so I intend selling them in multipacks. I'm also intending to produce them in a range of colours to match your bass; sadly sunburst is giving me a bit of grief at the moment! It can be retrofitted to ANY bass inc those with Lightwave string sensor systems. I can't give too much away till I get my patent but... Watch this space!
  18. I've had the 'prongs' disengage but have been able to sort them. On Sunday, packing up, my Hercules MS533B microphone stand was stiff. Managed to close it but it locked solid. Felt like something was wedged in the shaft as the clutch felt normal. Got it moving with lots of WD40 into the bottom of the shaft, followed by lots of twisting. Will have to see how permanent this is. The problem appears to be with (what appears to be) a white metal guide block at the bottom of the inner telescoping shaft. Perhaps it 'picked' up on the steel? Is their a hiddrn sleeve that came adrift or jammed? Wary of complete disassembly... but how long will it keep working? Annoying as it's streets ahead of other types for utility.
  19. A whole set of the Dunlop Fuzz Face Mini pedals up for grabs! Great pedals, great tone, and all in good condition, but just haven’t been used (plus, quite hard to display upright…). The following choices available (prices including UK postage): FFM1 - Silicon Fuzz Face Mini (blue) -£100 FFM2 - Germanium Fuzz Face Mini (red) - £100 FFM3 - Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Face Mini (pale blue) - £110 FFM4 - Joe Bonamassa Fuzz Face Mini (black) - £120 FFM6 - Band of Gypsys Fuzz Face Mini (red with white knobs) - £110 - £110

  20. Pair of Marshall Guv’nors up for grabs. On the left is the original MK1, made in England model, on the right, the slightly later (but still vintage) Korean model, including box. Both are well used (MIE model especially) but both still working well and sound great. The occasional crackle from a knob (they are both 30+ years old) but nothing majorly affecting use. £150 each, including uk postage.
  21. I do a bit of BV in my bands and I've experimented with some of these pedals. They are really, really useful! I really liked the Boss VE-20 for some of its effects: harmoniser, megaphone effect, reverb... It did the lot. The problem for me came when the soundman just doesn't want to know: "woah woah woah it sounds like you've already got reverb and compression on your mic, No no no can't do that". I know, most musos would say the sound guy should just deal with what they're given, but I guess he had been bitten far too many times by weird kit turning up and misbehaving on stage. It made me really reticent to keep using it live, even though it added a great effect for certain songs and generally gave me more confidence in my BV. So, if you go down this route of vocal effects pedals be prepared to tweak it so you can remove certain effects and give the sound guy the signal they want to make you sound good, or just bypass it and accept there isn't time or willingness on the part of the sound guy. If you are the sound guy, however, make sure you know the kit.
  22. The next song to learn is Place Your Hands by Reef. I sat down for 30mins the other day, mainly listening to it. Bass part is quite interesting I'd say... considering I've got more than enough root only songs in our set. It's not a song I've ever liked, mainly due the vocal. I'm sure it'll sound OK when someone else sings it 🙂
