  1. Past hour
  2. Assembled the bias board and wired the PT to the mains via the fuse and switch.
  3. Better be quick with the S2 - the prices are heading into the stratosphere at the moment... If you miss it, my mate in Manchester has one for sale, I think.
  4. Because they all look really ugly? 😁
  5. Great set up. Ran exactly the same rig for a few years pre covid. GLWTS
  6. A fantastic compressor with plenty of tonal variety using 3 styles of compression with their own respective ratios. The SSL Bus compressor, FET 1176 and Darkglass's own Super Symmetry. There is also a lot of great tweaking that can be done via computer with the timings of attack, release and even a HPF. In fantastic condition, including box, manuals, rubber feet etc. Specifications: Hybrid Analog/Digital Compression Pure Analog signal path Blend control 3 built in yet distinct modes of advanced modelled compression Connect to your PC/Mac via Micro-USB (B) Free ‘Darkglass Suite’ software (provides additional fine control and compression models) 10-LED gain reduction meter Touch-Through metal sensors Internal doubling of supply voltage to 18V (allows for extra headroom) I/O: 6.5mm / ¼” Jack Input impedance: 1M Ohm Output impedance: 1k Ohm (9V DC, centre -, 2.1mm, ~250mA current draw)
  7. I had to figure out the bassline by ear, as all bass tabs I could find are 200% wrong.
  8. Whats ya ear pleasure? Maybe a Secondhand Ibby SR300 (Super Skinny Necks) or do you want the conventional P (or J?) , Squier of Harley B...
  9. Great story from Nick Beggs (on the latest edition of Popbitch): "I was performing at a rock/pop festival in Europe in the 80s and staying at a hotel with all the other luminaries of the day. I recall seeing Ozzy Osbourne and Bruce Dickinson talking in the hotel bar that evening. Becoming overwhelmed by my fan-like mentality I helplessly ran up to Ozzy and spouted, "Oh my God! Ozzy Osbourne! I can't believe it, you were my biggest influence!" "To which he replied. 'F*** off! I'm not taking the blame for that crap." There's another great story going about featuring Ozzy, Slash, Cliff Richard and the late Queen of England (that I won't repeat here) 🙂
  10. I must admit, I did wonder about that. However, Jake E Lee put up a screen shot of a text he received from Ozzy a couple of days before he died, thanking him for doing the Back to the Beginning gig and suggesting that they meet up in a few weeks time when he went back to LA. So, perhaps it was more unexpected than you might think.
  11. Not usually in favour of the far right but... i can make an exception.
  12. Sometimes, these parcels show up, it happened to me a (very) few times, so 🤞🏻 !
  13. Have been interested in getting one of these for a while but still uncertain about what it can actually do when used straight in to amp! The controls are minimal and there doesn't seem to be any videos etc that really demonstrate its effect. You don't happen to have a recording you can share? Cheers.
  14. Back in his heyday Ozzy would have got up to some kind of dubious shenanigans with those chimpanzees. It would have been too good and opportunity to miss. They should count themselves very lucky.
  15. In terms of the music, my favourite Sabbath was definitely the Dio era too, saw them live ect, but Ozzy was a personality cult all of his own, even back then. I agree that if Sabbath had changed their name at that point then maybe people would have more readily acknowledged what great music they were turning out in their own right. I saw Ozzy with Randy Rhodes on the first Blizzard Of Oz tour in 1980. It was pretty good but not great, just another routine gig on a Monday night in the provinces for Ozzy. I waited at the stage door afterwards to get my programme signed but Ozzy looking a bit dazed and glazed-over, wasn't very approachable. Sharon accompanied him straight across the car park to the hotel next door. A few minutes later you could see him through the window having a drink in the bar with Budgie, the support band. Probably just a quick nightcap and then straight to bed.
  16. Dude, this was heartbreaking to read. I read the thread for the other (black) bass, and was looking forward to this one, but that sentence sent my heart sinking for you. A wonderful build, that I hope turns up for you soon. Mark
  17. Funnily enough this lot did have a keys player! But that video clarifies that the basis of the line he played (which is in just about every youtube bass cover) is actually the guitar line. I'd somehow never come across anyone playing that as the bassline before that night.
  18. Great to see you live up to your name .😺Jealous about the status s2 classic . I may track one down one day .. There is a cort space bass for sale on here . If it’s still here after the weekend , I may take the plunge .🤔
  19. I am sure it is. But there are ways of applying it that do not look like that!
  20. Here are the two bass guitars together, side by side like they should be...
  21. @MoonBassAlpha Track goes together well, moves through and keeps interesting. Good sounds too. Bass came out well. I like the mid drive sound, it's live sounding and has even weight low and high. It's original too. Nice work. @upside downer Good mix. The slury synth bass riff makes my head go funny, in a good way, and so does the arrangement and phrasing. It has good drive and evolves as it goes with some subtle surprises. I enjoyed it.
  22. Most of us are filling in for missing keys.
  23. While the lacquer cured, I started to prepare the tuners for installment. Like I mentioned in the thread of the other bass that I built for Tom Petersson I modified the Schaller tuners a little bit. Two reasons: Save weight. And to make them shorter in order to keep the headstock as small as possible (without sacrificing strength of the wood). After I had wet sanded and polished the bass, I installed al the hardware and electronics. Initially the bass was designed with a pearloid pickguard (which matches the pearloid buttons of the octave tuners) But when I saw the beautiful quilted maple top I got second thoughts. And suggested we'd leave the pickguard off. Tom agreed to leave it off. But I did make some pics with the pickguard that I already had cut out. I used cut off head of phillips crews to make it look as if it was really mounted. So no holes were drilled in that quilted maple top. I put the pickguard inside the case. So if Tom should change his mind he can always decide to mount it after all.
  24. After the neck was glued in I stained the bass in the desired color. Tom asked for a dark Lemon Burst. Which was a first for me. But it turned out great. After a few coats of clear lacquer Applied the decals
  25. Routed the profiel for the controls cover on the back of the body Routed the neck pocket Shaped the heel of the neck to fot the neck pocket Then routed the pickup cavities
