  2. 2006 Squire Vintage Modified Precision Bass in Olympic White for sale - with some modifications to dress it up like a 70s P bass. I will include the Thomann gig bag with the sale. I have always wanted a 70s P, but as a mainly 5 string player I knew I wouldn't use it that much so I didn't want to commit too much cash to one. So, I found a Squire VM P bass in Olympic white which had a few dings online and then proceeded to create my own. Personally I think it looks great and it saddens me to sell it but I could do with a little cash injection right now. So, the main change is the headstock. The squire details were removed and sanded flat, some discolouration added to age the wood, a 70s decal added and then a vintage amber Nitro lacquer from NorthWest Guitars. I have flatted it back and flatted off the sheen from the back of the neck so it's nice and smooth. Aged string retainer and neck F plate was added (I always intended to add aged tuners and bridge but never got round to it.) Body - it had a few dinks here and there which have been added to (nothing major to be honest) and the bass still has the Seymore Duncan designed pickups, original bridge and tuners. The olympic white has aged and yellowed really nicely and the rosewood board is nice and dark. I know this won't be to everyone's taste but if you fancy a 70s P and don't fancy the price of one, this could be for you! I have included a picture of the original squire serial number for information. Not sure what else to add about the bass. It plays great and sounds just like a P should. The previous owner changed the wiring to cloth wiring and added an orange drop cap to the tone control. Any trial is welcome and I have packaging to post. Will look at quotes and would be happy to share the postage costs.

  4. £750 for the bass.
  5. Bought a Hipshot BT1 from Derek, effortless and smooth, and a pleasure to deal with. Thanks! 👍
  6. I have one of these - it's one of the Spencer Doren built units (3 Leaf Audio) from the very short collaboration between him & Darkglass. Loads of info about that relationship on that other forum! Suffice to say, a pretty well built box that does the low gain thing very well and a possible collectors piece in years to come? GLWTS.
  7. Hey all, I just managed to get hold of a bargain Vanderkley 410LNT (4ohms) to pair with my 210LNT (8 ohms), powered by my Glock Heart Rock II (putting out the full 1000 watts @ 2.67 ohms). Although it also sounded great when I had a 4 ohm 210LNT (now for sale here!) paired with the 8 ohm LNT, something bothered me about having unequal power going to the same cab types. This is has scratched that itch. Good Lord. It sounds huge. (Sorry, neighbours)
  8. Its defo the DB500 not the foundry, the foundry does nit have valve drive but does gave a master volume control
  9. I think, given the shape of the control plate, scratchplate, etc, if the bottom edge of the headstock was cut straight to match the tuner side it would suit the guitar far mode, like a symmetrical pointy shape with a rounded end.
  10. I've never had a P-bass. I spent some time with a mate's battered and badly set up '75 precision and that was like being behind the wheel of a classic car and I could see how I'd use one for a project, but I had no desire to actually own one. It's a bass I'd use for a purpose, but not one I'd pick up to play out of choice, if that makes sense? I did fall head-over-heels in love with an early 80s Ibanez Blazer which was their version of a Precision. Good grief, that thing played and sounded like nothing else, but I just don't play 4-strings now.
  11. That's the custom Precision and the Aerodyne Jazz away. Didn't see the point in keeping them to look at. I never really gelled with either of them, so I've zero regrets. I can say for sure that I'm 100% not a Precision guy. They both paid for some nice wheels for my old car, so I'm happy. I've still three Jazzes, a Hofner and the Ric, and I've no desire to change anything out just now. If it came to it and I could only keep say two, I'd hold on to the Vintera and Ric.
  12. Here is a collection of Kalium strings. I stocked up on these years ago when I was using them on all of my instruments but I've now moved onto Elixirs. Without bringing up recent controversies, these were bought before Kalium (formerly Circle K's) quality control seemed to nose-dive. I have two full sets of balanced tension strings in Hybrid (proprietary alloy... brighter than nickel, smoother than steel) and 6 steel singles: Hybrid set: 102-76-57-41 Hybrid set: 106-79-59-43 Steel singles: 98 x2, 73 x2, 55 x2 + 1 Single Elixir Nanoweb Nickel .135 B string. All in for £40 £30 posted. Thanks for looking!

    Another great transaction! Thanks Mike
  14. Have a set of Sadowsky knobs for sale. These were bought for a renovation project but I ended up going with classic chrome Fender knobs instead. Purchased from BestBassGear for $44 several years ago. These are designed for 6mm solid shafts but will fit split shafts with a brass insert. I'm sure I've got some tucked away in my parts drawer so can provide them as well if required. £20 posted ONO. Cheers Bob

  15. My situation is that I have very limited space. And... I have hoarding tendencies (other people can collect and do so with intent and discenment, but I tend to hold on to things in case they come in handy!) so I really put effort into keeping on top of my environment and for me and the way I live I'm way, way better off with a couple of really appropriate instruments that I'll use than many more I just like owning. But as this thread has shown, it's really personal. I'm very grateful for everyone's input, though - it's been really helpful to think things through and come to a considered decision.
  16. I know that if I ever undertake a project again that I need a 4-string for I'll just get one and it'll be fun to find something that fits the brief. As it is, it's good to know it's somewhere that it may get the use it deserves.
  17. Oh yes sorry I forgot there are different types now! It's a 4 string set, nickel.
  18. I've got a couple of basses that I adore but will never get played in anger ever again. I've no idea why I'm still holing onto them, especially considering I've been offered ridiculous money for one of them. Emotional attachment. The Hamer FBIV hasn't been out of its case in a couple of years and even then it was only for a few minutes to fit a new jack plate.
  19. How many sets of strings are in the box and what type are they nickel etc? Thanks
  20. Today
  21. That's a shame, thanks for letting me know.
  22. As new condition. This was for a planned project that never happened. I unpacked it, had a quick trial and then put it back in the box. £70 collected. If you want it posted, cost will be around a fiver.

  23. That's useful thanks, I have some old gigbags and a laptop case that absolutely reek. @Lfalex v1.1 you might want to look at this if you're planning on using the C8 with the built in trolley/wheels in car parks etc:
  24. Just noticed... he seems to have completely missed that the Joyo has a gain knob....
