I think I have fewer requirements than most as mine is just for the mixer, no chord sheets or anything. Having said that, I spent £40 on a refurbished Amazon Kindle Fire 10. It works great and I can recommend it for running Mixing Station.
-
Most of the remaining parts arrived - chassis, board, choke, hardware, resistors. Just waiting on the capacitors now.

That is my view too. I got a Nokia tablet, refurbished by Nokia with new battery etc for a littl;e over £100. Is it the best tablet? Clearly not, but for the needs of a gigging tablet it does all that's required and more. At some point when it starts getting a little older I'll just switch off updates entirely. The only network I need to connect to is the mixer's router.

Im always nervous of leaving something muted when we go back on, so I have my XR18 set to Mute/unmute all by any of the mute buttons. FOH stays on and the iPad playing music does as well, but the band are all muted with one button (and it can be any of the big red buttons).

"Micro Frets" with interesting adjustment at the nut
Count Bassy replied to alyctes's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I experimented with an adjustable nut on my basses, but only to the extent of pushing a bit of galvalized wire under the strings next to the nut, so that it could be slid/angled as required. Made a real difference to the intonation at the low end (bottom 3 or 4 frets), and after setting the intonation at the bridge has negligible affect elsewhere. Didn't do anything permanent as I assumed that the required position would change with the strings fitted. In princible a good idea. -

I would have thought they would be the same? I have only had one dingwall and quite a lot of ibanezs but I didn't get that feel from my dingwall.

+1 on on the "get in touch with singer" idea. Singer, bass and guitar might be enough for a wine-bar thing anyway and you can take your time finding a drummer who can play quietly.

Cowardly and underhand band politics...
Woodinblack replied to solo4652's topic in General Discussion
Yeh, I had this before with one singer and drummer, I felt annoyed afterwards I had accepted it rather than pointing out that it was actually more my band than theirs. However we watched them over the next few years go through successions of guitarists / female singers / bass players before they finally seemed to give up. It was clear the weak area was the singer, I guess even if you refuse to accept you are the weak link at some point you get fed up trying to find out why everyone else is wrong. I was annoyed at the start, but the time they split up I was quite dissapointed I wouldn't be able to keep up with their facebook posts introducing the new singer / guitarist, and the next post saying about that same person going off to explore other avenues. You dodged a bullet, find someone else, make a new group, but yes, get in touch with the singer. If they signed on for a cafe / wine bar vibe they are probably not going to be happy doing blues -
Great little bass !

Yep. Par for the course. Same happened to me twice last year. Same band leader for both bands and same behaviour. Some guys are just A-holes!!

Easily the best speaker cabinet I have ever used: am downsizing to lighter Genz Benz cabs as I rarely play live now. The Eden D210XST Cab is loud enough to be heard and yet still small enough to be used at home or in a small studio. For those players who need a portable, high-performance rig with even more low end than the XLT, Eden has designed a 2 x 10" cabinet for their XST woofers. Punchy and clean, the D210XST produces a full and clear tone through its two 10" speakers. It's excellent for delivering articulate bass lines with volume. This 2 x 10" cabinet handles more power than many 4 x 10" cabs on the market. The D210XST offers huge bottom end with its cleverly-designed tuned and ported cabinet construction and speaker selection: the low end is full but tight, the mids are open and well-defined and the highs are clear and crisp. Durable build quality makes this ideal for touring and live performances. All Eden enclosures are constructed with 5/8" thick void free plywood with full dado and rabbet jointing. Massive internal bracing prevents vibration and keeps the sound deep, tight and clear. Exclusive Eden Cast Frame loudspeakers and Eden Cast Bell low distortion tweeter horns are designed, hand-built and tested in their own factory in the USA. Very Good condition. Comes with an official Eden cover. Power Handling: 500 Watts Impedance: 8 Ohms Speakers: 2x10" Eden-spec Eminence EC1060XS speakers Tweeter: Eden Cast Bell low distortion Crossover: 3.5KHz @ 18dB Frequency Response: 30Hz - 14KHz Sensitivity: 103dB SPL Connections: Parallel 1/4 Inch and Speakon Dimensions: 23" w x 18" h x 18.5" d Weight: 59lbs / 26.8kg Only £325. Collection from East London preferred, although happy for buyer to arrange a courier.

BabyBlueSound started following FáZZ - DIY Mastotron clone prototype £45 including shipping

FáZZ - DIY prototype. It is based on the ZVEX Mastotron, using a Fuzzdog PCB. The RE/PUSH impedance control is pretty cool, you can adjust the breakup to the hotness of yours pickups. It lights up under UV light! (can add photos when it gets dark tonight) The LED is matching pink! BUDGET PRICE - This is a prototype as it's my first attempt covering a pedal faceplate with epoxy. Unfortunately it's SPONGY, the epoxy never hardened fully. It's not jelly-like, it's pretty solid, but you can mark it with your nail if you press hard - so this is something to consider. I will also add a short recording shortly.

You are quite right to be completely outraged by this. There is however little point in losing it with them. You either accept this as fait accompli or try to fight. Believe it I've been there as I supect have most of us. You could try telling the drummer that it is your band not his and if he wants to go off and start an entirely different band with his new guitarist friend then he needs to do so. Like @pickguard I'd be ringing the singer and asking if she is happy with the changes, make sure she knows you aren't asking her to change sides just whether she would prefer being in your band with the set list she agreed to or the new band with the extended guitar solos. She may be extremely unsettled knowing she is working with such devious selfish people but let her raise any aspect of how they've behaved. Be the nice guy. My prediction is that this band won't be stable with two big egos and no personal loyalty. With that choice of music gigs are likely to be thin on the ground. Anyway with the singer on your side you are in a strong enough position to recruit new people. One word of warning, guitarists who are willing to play anything other than some genre of rock/blues are unusual down here in 'wurzel country'. in fact if you play guitar I might have a proposition for you -
So ... shot the face of the neck level and smooth with my trusty Stanley No 4 plane. It's still thick as a tree-trunk but I will sort that after I've glued on the fingerboard. First time it's moved as a unit with the neck bolts in ... no nuts yet (oooer Missus) ... but the fit and neck socket were tight and tidy enough for me to lift the bass. Checking all is well with the bridge height ... and should be no issues. So in preparation for drilling the tuning box peg holes I disassembled the tuners and mounted them as a template. The holes are 14mm so I've had to order a bit specially ... bah! Couldn't resist a quick shot of her looking a bit more like a bass again - yep the cap heads of the neck bolts will be let in ... luckily with the same 14mm drill as needed for the tuner holes - happy day!

Not so sure about parting with it.. But I'm reorganizing my gear and for my current needs, I'm not using this instrument at the moment as I also have other 5 string jazz style instruments. I might consider a trade, or exchange, for a different instrument, maybe something more modern, or 4 or 5 strings.. with active preamp This Olinto is a sensational instrument, maybe the best passive jazz 5 I've ever tried.. a very woody and organic voice.. it doesn't sound like the typical maple fretboard instrument.. it sounds very 60's.. it even has a sound that seems older than my 66 jazz!! As for the characteristics of the instrument: Olinto J5, Production year 2023 body: alder maple neck, birdseye maple fingerboard, custom Mas Hino hand wound pickups 34" scale Carbonetti Sunburst nitro finish hipshot hardware weight around 4kg original hard case available a spare white perloid pickguard Other pics and samples available on request price for a new one, around 5200$ plus shipping, plus taxes I set a trade value of 4800€, open to discuss depending on the offers no issues on the bass.. really near mint conditions
