Dood started following Do you have a signature sound?
-
This! I am obsessed with this sound! Itโs sounds a great deal like my 76 P bass but more of everything. Iโve never tried Optima Gold strings before, but hearing comparisons against standard Nickels, itโs exciting stuff.. to my ear anyway. I asked Don what EMG he has on board and he let me know itโs a P-X.. so, guess what I want now!! Literally the sound Iโve had in my head for years!

What are you listening to right now?

Have to agree on this. I seem to experience the same. I'm still trying to figure out what a tepid pie against a sheet of plexiglass sounds like but i'll work on it ๐ Dave

Is this a direct copy of the Takamine DB10? Could it also be fitted with an endpin so it could be played in the upright position? I have an Alvarez mini travel bass converted to fretless fitted with black tapewound Rotosound strings and a high-ish action.

That SB1 looks a lot better in real life than in photos. I bet it's a great rock bass. That Frank Bello bass looks killer in the new finish.

I remember those AC DJ basses. It might have been where I first got the idea of having ChiSonics put on mine. After Lakland first moved production to Indonesia a lot of the basses got lighter. I've got a Skyline 44-02 Deluxe fretless weighs about 8 pounds. My USA DJ is genuine swamp ash and weighs in a bit under 8 pounds. Sounds great with those pickups, like a beefed-up Jazz Bass but not like an active Jazz, which is exactly what I wanted. Haven't used it in a long time, but I will get round to it again. I wonder what Lakland are showing at NAMM this year? Can't find much yet.
