  1. Past hour
  2. As nice as lefty jazz as I've seen in ages. I probably have too many Jazzes and im dangerously skint. GLWTS JOdeV
  3. Nice work Leonard, I’d happily listen to that, good luck with your entry
  4. It’s funny but that post from @BabyBlueSound has made me realise that you’re absolutely right Lawrie 👍
  5. No worries that's what I thought, worth a try though. If someone else wants to take the C4 off your hands let me know and take the controller. Cheers
  6. I have one of these and it’s very good. I don’t fiddle with the controls much, tending to leave it in passive mode in the usual 60:40 jazz pup mix but I do like the string spacing
  7. Just to resurrect an old thread...... Is it just Babicz and Hipshot that make a replacement for the 3 point bridge? I'm just looking around and am surprised there isn't a generic drop in or Wilkinson don't make one seeing as it's a much maligned piece of equipment. I'm about to ask a stupid question, but here goes........is it possible to buy something like this and drop it in? https://northwestguitars.co.uk/collections/bass-bridges/products/4-string-bass-guitar-bridge-dual-load-bb404 I know it won't be a straight drop in and will need new holes drilling, but what else would I need to think about besides...... - Getting the string spacing as close to the original. Is there a 'safe' amount of leeway to give here? I think the 3 point has something like a 17.7mm string spacing, would a bridge with 18mm be OK? - The height of the bridge. Would any 'generic' bridge like the above need a plate underneath it like the Babicz? Or will there be enough headroom to raise the saddles to get the action OK?
  8. FOR SALE/TRADE, 2016 Fender MIM Standard Jazz Bass finished in Candy Apple Red *Mint Condition* Never Gigged! This lovely 16 'reg Candy Apple Red Standard Jazz has led a sheltered life. Bought new by an old client of mine (I taught his daughter about 25 years ago) and never gigged. It has instead lived in it's gig bag under a bed. Even the Volume/Tone knobs feel tight and new. Now it deserves to be played. It has a lovely glossed and figured Maple Fingerboard, and seems punchier than the later Players (from 2018). It will be set up nicely for the buyer and comes with a generic Gig Bag. Priced fairly at £450. Trades welcome with a little money possible each way. Buyer to collect from Derbyshire DE7, or will happily meet halfway at a distance up to 100 miles.
  9. As they have round cores I would say there's a bit mellower than the D'Ads. Watch this video, from 1:56 to 2:42 and then again from 6:49 to 7:35, which might help.
  10. This amp is now £400 on Amazon. Incredible. I will drop the price for the amp, adapter, pedalboard and case to £500, which is still a good deal I think, but I really cannot go any lower. If it doesn't sell at this price I will just keep it as a spare.
  11. I keep coming back to this. I love the clean lines and simplicity, but sadly the colour's really not for me. It's got me thinking how much would a refin cost! 🤔 GLWTS.
  12. I cannot. It comes from being shot with a camera - the verb induces the condition
  13. Delrin is also my preferred material.
  14. Can I ask what colour the pink lacquer is, please, and where you found it?
  15. I like the JD Delrin 500 in 1mm and 1.5mm and they are very grippy Normal teardrop shape
  16. Most definitely, my preference at present is .73, I have 3 different types: Fender Medium - nice warm, even/vintage sound Dunlop Tortex - more upper mids and highs to the sound Dunlop Ultex - modern, scooped sound At home I prefer the Fender, but for the band the Tortex
  17. Sorry to hear this. The moderators will I’m sure be able to check/remove any offensive content @ped
  18. Also what sounds lacking in isolation can sound perfect with the band Definitely helps if you tweek the EQ to pull back some of those massive increase in mids when you use a pick Some songs it works but I’ve found reducing mids slightly works but don’t overdo it as you then get buried in the mix
  19. FYI I posted a comment in the offending thread; hopefully the errors are genuine and will be addressed.
  20. @impathological Maybe some re-wording and an apology is due there...?
  21. Take Your Clothes Off When You Dance - F.Z.
  22. I am so sorry to hear that. Thank you so much for setting the record straight. The internet is a cruel and mistrusting place. Your story is the only one that counts.
  23. The material the pick is made out of will make just as much difference as the thickness. If you are still finding your way playing with a pick get a load of different ones in a variety of shapes, sizes, thickness and materials and try them all. There is no right answer when it comes to using a pick, and in fact a lot more variables to deal with since different thicknesses and materials can make a massive difference to the sound. And again there is no right answer to what EQ to use. It will depend not only on all the factors above but also how you want the bass sound to fit into the mix of the other instruments.
