  1. Past hour
  2. I'd say anything beyond £1500 is expensive in my view. Although I have basses costing more, none do a significantly 'better' job. Simples.
  3. Yes, it is. Maybe we're all tuned to different frequencies of said sonic hole..? I always remember a regular bass player at a Jam Session where I was house bass player some years ago, who used to go on and on about adding mids. What he never realized was that yes, adding a bucket load of mid frequency helps you hear yourself very clearly, but in turn always sounds nasty and harsh to the audience. I'm sure there's a balance lurking around somewhere!
  4. 👍
  5. It is interesting that we all hear different things. For me, you've just named two bass types that stand out most from the sonic hole! 😅 Whereas I find most two pickup single coil basses disappear unless they're really dialled up.
  6. Probably not the best time of year to list gear 😂 but here we go… I’m putting two Bitsa P‑basses up for sale. Both play great, both sound great — I just don’t reach for them anymore as I’ve moved to ultralight sub‑7lb basses and prefer a 38mm neck. Bitsa 1 – The Blue One – £500 A really lovely build with quality parts throughout: • Fender USA 1998 Precision neck – stunning feel, super low action • Hipshot lightweight tuners • Squier California blue body (Poplar) • EMG Geezer Butler pickups + electrics for proper vintage punch • Gotoh bridge • Weight: 7.9lbs (accurate) A very tidy, great‑sounding bass with a premium neck. Bitsa 2 – The White One – £350 Solid, lightweight P with loads of character: • Mexican Maple P neck – low action, plays well • Small drill‑through mark on the board (purely cosmetic, never bothered me) • EMG Geezer pickups • Wilkinson bridge • Squier Classic Vibe white body with a few honest marks • Weight: 7.10lbs (accurate) Another great player, especially for the money. Both are cracking instruments and a bit of a bargain for what’s in them. Happy to answer questions or provide more pics. Collection Plymouth or happy to discuss couriers.

  7. Another straight forward and smooth transaction with Tom. Once again I can say that I'm happy to recommend.
  8. These are amazing, this is a really good buy for someone who wants a quality handmade leather strap. Mine is one of my best bass related buys ever
  9. Make me an offer as I have no use for this… Appreciate bows need to be tried but there’s enough margin in this for you to that pretty much risk-free.
  10. It's nice to see some balanced opinions and experiences here. In my case, I've always been a die hard Status fan, and whenever the Status sound hasn't been appropriate, I'd usually resort to a Fender Jazz (both passive and active are available to me.) I have a few other basses, such as a very punchy GB Spitfire and a couple more, including an incoming new build walnut/graphite Jazz. Then there's my 95 Stingray with Aguilar pickup & preamp, an utterly fantastic sounding bass in isolation, which is currently up for sale on the marketplace here. I've had several EBMM instruments, such as a Piezo Stingray, an older Stingray 5, a newer three band Stingray 4, a Sabre Classic, a Big Al 5 & more recently a nearly new Stingray Special 5. For some reason, the EBMM sound never seems to work for me in a live situation. It disappears into a sonic hole of sorts, just like a Precision. Maybe it's those pronounced upper mids? I prefer some smoother clean treble with the mids set flat usually. Maybe I play too quietly and sensitively, but whatever the reason, whenever I get stung by the Ray (see what I did there?), it sadly ends up staying home and ultimately gets sold. Note to self: Stop buying Stingrays, you eejit!
  11. I guess it is just the inevitable direction of travel. As for data, yep it is incredibly valuable. It’s why Facebook and X et al are ‘free’. We are the product. I am just glad I am not of the generation that has been profiled since birth and accepts it as normal. I guess financial data is the holy grail and makes the work of HMRC, Any credit rating agencies, financial services, lenders of every description and if I pop my tin foil hat on, the ability for the state to subdue the masses via an intricate mesh of social credit. Happy Christmas 🎅 !!
  12. No problem... You'd be very welcome! 👍😊 Nice part of the world, St Ives...
  13. What about a cheap bass that requires upgrades to be properly useable? Or that requires a lot of expensive work from a tech etc? What about a bass that costs £2k, gets used for a bunch of paid gigs, then you break even selling it later adjusted for inflation? Was that expensive or was it basically free? Or a mid priced bass that warps or the truss rod breaks or whatever - that’s the one that feels the most ‘expensive’ in the long run to me.
  14. @bass_dinger for cartridges my current sensibly priced favourite is audio technica, the vm95 range is great value and all the stylus versions fit on the same body, so you can start with the cheapest conical one and then upgrade as far as you want, I'm using the elliptical one on my nad turntable and am very pleased with it. Audio technica The conical option is is about thirty quid and I think the elliptical is about fifty. I have generally avoided aftermarket stylii, once the supply of genuine oem options runs out I will swap to a more modern design anyway. Matt
  15. Started out bass life with a SUB being the first proper non-"cheap" bass I owned, spent the next 18 years owning pretty much every type of bass imaginable and never being satisfied, and for the past year I've landed back with a 2016 PDN StingRay and it just ticks all the boxes for me now. The Specials are also wonderful basses (and share much of the PDN spec). I went through a period of trying other older Rays and concur with the other issues noted on here, but the newer ones are very, very much worth trying. Most Ray's I've played have felt like overly harsh sounding boat anchors, but not so with the newer stuff.
  16. Hi, is the bass still for sale and would you take £400 for it looks lovely many thanks Tim
  17. You should be able to get some pills for that from the pharmacist. 🤣 Absolutely gorgeous bass, though.
  18. Amazing!!!
  19. Should also add this bass is fitted with Dunlop strap locks. Would consider trades for a Warwick 5 string but not a streamer..

  21. Having replaced this very lightly used (never left our smoke free home) Roland Vdrum kickpad with the the extortionate KDQ-8, this is no longer required. So it's up for grabs. If required, I could post it if we work out a price. It's in excellent condition and working perfectly, and I'll clean the dust off too (only just noticed !) Any questions, let me know.
  22. Mint condition Boss GKC-DA interface for controlling and playing Boss 13pin units VG99, GK33, GP-10 etc using the newer GK-5 pickup. i.e. SERIAL to 13PIN I'd already sold my GP-10 by the time it arrived, so it's never been used. Lived in it's box, in a cupboard, in a smoke free home. Still boxed with PSU. Willing to post. Any questions, please ask. This may be also be advertised elsewhere.
  23. You might like this one with Zeeteah, Don is on bass, great Bassline
  24. I have a 1981 Stingray. It is my first and until recently, my only bass. I need a back realignment after playing it for any length of time but.... It sounds incredible. In the early 90's it was Rotosounds through a Trace Elliott 1x15 / 4x10 and it always sounded bloody amazing. Huge growl and a punchy low end. After a decade of laying dormant in it's case, It has seen the light again and yes.... it still sounds bloody amazing! Currently strung with Dunlop flats due to some nerve damage in middle fretting finger (bizarre gardening accident) and you guessed it. It still sounds bloody amazing. Arguably, even better due to a more balanced sound between strings. I can't imagine not having it in my life.
  25. That's a good idea, they'll be able to let me know how big a gauge I'd need to reach a certain tension. The other option is to just order one and try it. I don't like ordering basses just to see but I probably don't have any other option with these.
  26. I want to keep it as tidy as possible so I don't want to plug the LEDs into the USB — Just to make things a little harder for myself.
