  1. Past hour
  2. Yep - I'd like one of those, to go alongside my Flyte.
  3. Remember the old saying: There's none so queer as folk!!
  4. Bargain of the century. Excellent amps, great core tone, very powerful. GLWTS!
  5. We usually get booked for the Ramsden fete, finishing the musical entertainment for the day, and this year was no exception. As is the tradition, it rained towards the end of the show. Right near the end the drummer's bass drum pedal broke and he was summoned via the event PA to move his car. I have a large blister on my middle finger after some vigorous plucking. Despite all this, the audience clearly enjoyed it, we were asked to extend the set a bit, and we got paid.
  6. Bright side of the road - Van Morrison
  7. This is a Chinese copy , stock bridge. I’m used to the wooden Dano style bridge , there is a sweet spot for it.
  8. Teenage Asshole - The Lillingtons, bass cover
  9. When you split you only get the clean sound to the amp, all the meatbox sub and octave go to pa
  10. An unusual gig this morning at a classic car breakfast meet down in Hampshire with the new funk band and then back home to Horsham to play at kings Lea school fate this afternoon with some old musician friends. Really enjoying my GB Spitfire 5 since it came out back from a service by Bernie recently. Sounds fantastic though the puma and LFsys Monzas . Now to enjoy a nice relaxing evening ( not playing) x😊

  14. So experiments in how easy this finish is to remove. I had 500ml of 99% acetone as a tester amount ... and just over 250ml stripped this C bout. It was fairly unpleasant ... I used Mirlon grey 'Scotchbrite' style pads to agitate the finish as I soaked it in thinners ... and it came off in lumps like toxic toffee. Be aware if you do this acetone is HUGELY inflammable so don't smoke ... work with gloves, a mask, ideally overalls, and most important OUTSIDE. I did this test on a hugely hot day - so the bloody lacquer was solidifying as the acetone evaporated in seconds! I stuck to the bass like a huge fly trap several times! Stage one got me down to what I would imagine is a tinted sanding sealer. Like 'Fullerplast' on Fenders Stage two ... another light wash with acetone and a light sanding once dry and the wood has arrived! Stage 3 .... 5ltrs of acetone on order!
  15. Don’t know much about Noiseshaper but this one is growing on me, good riddim

  18. These top class amps are part of an equipment sell off due to finally retiring from gigging. They have a valve preamp stage with a solid state output and are super clear and loud. One of these has been my regular amp to use with a Vanderkley 212MNT cab, also now for sale on this site. I was offered the second LH500 in a private sale and then had two, with one being a back up, but never needed it. I rotated which one I used as a main amp fairly regularly, the other one would come to gigs but remained in my car. (Except one time when a guitarists amp died halfway through a gig) Controls are simple and straightforward, if you are crafting your sound on your pedalboard then just setting the EQ’s around 50% will give you excellent results with no drama. There is a line out for a mixing desk if you need this. Obviously these can be for sale separately, but I’m not asking a lot of money for them as they have clearly been gigged regularly, so maybe you can justify treating yourself to the pair. I’m asking just £70 each for the amps, or £130 for the pair Here’s some Hartke details: The LH500 has a classic 12AX7 Class-A tube front-end design with a solid-state output. Developed with the HyDrive cabs in mind, the LH500 also has more than enough power and tone control to drive any cabinet on the market. This amp provides you with Treble and Bass Shelving to give its warm tone a little edge. Or use the brite and limiter switches to further sculpt your sound. Its intuitive front panel also makes adjustments on the fly a breeze. The LH500 packs a big punch in a portable, roadworthy package. A 2-rackspace metal frame chassis, steel faceplate and handles allow for easy, safe transport from gig to gig. With the needs of modern bass players largely centered around volume and versatility, the LH500 is an ideal solution that gives you plenty of options to create the exact sound you're looking for. Will pack carefully and courier to any UK destination at cost. Or you can arrange to collect from Chichester or Woking, or Putney in London
  19. Hi Terry, makes me realise how much I'm missing out living so far away from civilisation - Still the beaches here are nice ! 😂 I've been in touch with Andertons again today to try and obtain a bit more info on their secondhandhand White BB425x. I didn't so I still think it's a bit on the high side - and they won't drop a penny. I've tried researching as much info as I can to find out if the 1025x is really worth the extra premium over the 425x. Seems those in the know have divided opinions 🤔 Actually Terry I quite like the735a. I know many have a lot to say about the capabilities of the 735 - or rather lack of. I've had a go on the 735a (at the Yamaha store in the West End) but never even held a 425 or a 1025 so no idea how they compare 🤔 Are you disappointed the AFR5 has gone ?😔

  21. I’m left handed! I play air bass left handed but actual bass right handed. I wouldn’t know where to start with a left handed bass!
  22. Fantastic 😍
  23. This top class cab is part of my equipment sell off due to finally retiring from gigging. (You can see my recent post in ‘General Discussion’ on this forum) It has been used regularly but has been well cared for and is in excellent condition. I’ve used this with a standard Hartke LH500 and this has made an excellent rig with a clear punchy sound and good portability – cab weight is 25kg. (Hartke is also for sale on here) It comes with an unmarked and undamaged Roqsolid cover, and a standard Speakon cable (can also be used with a regular jack to jack cable) Included is a lightweight crate which is ideal for transporting leads, pedals etc but this also has a high density acoustic damping foam block fixed to the base. When the empty crate is inverted it makes an excellent riser for the cab and the foam helps avoid resonance on hollow stages. See the pictures. It’s easily the best cab I’ve ever owned in my long playing career, and it projects well at all volume levels. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. Will pack carefully and courier to any UK destination at cost. Or you can arrange to collect from Chichester or Woking, or Putney in London Sensibly priced at £500, go on, treat yourself ! 😊
